Time to crown a F1 World Champion in Las Vegas? 2024 Sin City Grand Prix Preview
Dr. Marko is scary 😂
A scary, dream-maker ! 😂 If he’s impressed by you, you know you’re onto something special. And Arvid definitely has his attention!
I miss this circuit a lot 🥺 ... Can we have Indian Grand Prix back, it's been 500 years 😭
You and a billion of us 🥺! India deserves it's GP back - Arvid, Kush, and the rising F1 fanbase are making a strong case for it. Fingers crossed! 🇮🇳
Can't wait to see him in F1. The rate at which he is going, I won't be surprised if he becomes a World Champion before Lando & Charles.
That’s a bold take Ankit, and honestly… not impossible! 👀 His rise has been rapid, and if Red Bull backs him all the way, who knows? Could be an interesting few years ahead! 🔥
excited for what's to come for arvid!
Ditto🫨🫨 !! The Red Bull Junior Team doesn’t take talent lightly, and Arvid seems to be ticking all the right boxes.
His talent is undeniable
Absolutely! The way he carries himself at just 17, both on and off track, is something special.
Arvid will be a driver we will remember for years to come!
Yuki under pressure crashes both times driving with Lawson in '23 and '24. Almost ramming Daniel was when he lost any chance of racing for the top team. Yuki won't handle the Max pressure.
But we'd love to see that play out in reality, won't we?
This win was a drivers win. It was not a car win or an engine win or a power win. Rain, the great equalizer, makes engine-power useless, it makes acceleration power non-existent, it makes mechanical downforce marginal. Only a delicate driver that is at one with his machinery is able to feel and apply the input the car needs in tricky sliding conditions. Such a driver is not rude to his car, he does not smash it around, he does not make sudden moves, he will not frighten his car so badly that it goes off balance, he will not lose his nerve and he does not make disastrous mistakes and if….if.. the car drifts out of line the world champion corrects it and brings it gently back on course. (Heartrate went a little higher there’””)
Indeed, and Max's best display of his talent all season long!
If max is going to aston martin what would be the salary (what do you think)
It can be the £1 billion that is being rumoured. It will include race fees (fixed) and bonuses for poles, wins, championships, etc. + equity ownership? "Generational talent" has always raised the ceiling in Formula 1 on-track and in the bank! - Kunal
2024 was the year of MBS ahahaha!
Best F1 Podacast , I have been following you guys from last 5 years , thanks for the great content 😊
Thank you so much for your loyalty, it's always awesome to have long-time listeners like you! Keep racin'! - Kunal
Pero le diste un carro inservible y le ayudo Checo a resolver los problemas técnicos Checo fue tu chivo expiatorio
The challenge is that Checo couldn't recover from his slump. Also, the 280-odd points gap can't only be attributed to having a bad car and running experiments for the lead car. The math doesn't make sense. - Kunal
Can you upload this with video as well?
We will release reels - check out @insidelinef1pod on Instagram - Kunal
@insidelinef1 Sure, already following the reels and loved them, I thought full video is also being uploaded to youtube
A lot of editing this week; the parody awards comes up next. So we decided against a full video release for Dr. Marko's episode.
Little things here and there other than the Barcelona upgrade have cost Ferrari. 1. Baku crash 2. Brazil crash 3. Failure to take advantage of Las Vegas race 4. Not holding onto 1-2 in Mexico. Instead they finished 1-3 and there was a 6 points swing to McLaren 5. Maybe if they had Sainz jr in Jeddah, they could have scored a few more points Not blaming anyone but they were very close to winning the championship. Hopefully, they would lift both the championships next season.
Exactly, and they lost a championship despite such a bad run of races between Monaco and Monza - Kunal
On the Stop and go penalty, I have a contrasting opinion then Sundaram, double waved yellow means it's a serious issue and can lead to a red flag as well or can be deemed as mini red flag. But when double waved yellow was there Lando didn't know if there's any marshal on track etc etc, from his situation by the rules he should've lifted which he clearly didn't. Moreover safety infringements can't be judged situation specific, people will keep taking advantage of it. Safety comes first otherwise wrong precedents will be set. Good on FIA to give out strong statement!
Yes, that's been my view, too. The harshest penalty for a safety-related infringement. - Kunal
@@insidelinef1 Agreed!!!
Started listening to the podcast in January this year, and it has been an amazing year listening to you guys. Can't wait for the parody awards at the end of the year.
Thanks for being on the journey with us, Gokul. 😍 The "parody" awards are already being planned and will be out mid-December. If you happen to live in Mumbai or around, do visit us at our offline events. We will post more information shortly. Keep Racing! Kunal
@@insidelinef1 I am originally from Mumbai but am currently pursuing an aviation management degree in Sydney. I would love to attend the race screenings when I return to Mumbai. Cheers!
Keep flyin'! ;-)
This season just keeps on getting better , delivering at its peak 🙌
It *will* go down in history as the most-epic ever! Kunal
@@insidelinef1 Indeed!
Absolutely loved it - I improved my listening capability exponentially
For what for cheating together with his teammate Lewis,! (DAS)
Let's see if this theory is proved or disproved in Qatar - Kunal
Why yt algorithm is not boosting these videos 😢, the quality of discussion is not reaching many f1 fans in India/Abroad
Thanks for your good words and compliment, Pranav. We're always trying to focus on our content - and in fact, are building our "owned" networks (partial) via WhatsApp channels, etc. The algorithms will hopefully prioritise us one day! - Kunal (link: x.com/kunalashah/status/1815459109900267928)
What's your opinion on discussion going on regarding stewards, does F1 needs to introduce a process for selection of stewards such as umpires in cricket, referees in football where they are properly trained for umpiring and well suited rather than just picking up old drivers who also may have biases?
I have three main thoughts: 1. Is more consistent stewarding needed in Formula 1? Yes, no doubt 2. Should there be a more formal approach to training stewards? Yes; it almost seems like a surprise that we made it this far without such a process! 3. But a driver is needed to adjudicate what happens in wheel-to-wheel situations. They are a better judge for the in-cockpit decisions taken, telemetry evidence, etc. - Kunal
@insidelinef1 Agreed on all the points, properly framed, thanks Kunal !
Great presentation put together 🙌, insightful discussion
10.18 The track characteristics suit Ferrari but their Achilles heel has been cold conditions, which could be a factor this weekend.
Yes, true. Let's hope that they've been able to find a way to get their car to work..if they want to continue challenging for the WCC - Kunal
This is the voice for every F1 loving Indian individual from 1999 to 2006. And we werent quite a lot in numbers. But this voice is the timeline of those 7 years. Thank you for getting him back with us. Missed it very much
Absolutely our pleasure, Rajiv. We're glad you loved our content and pleased to have our on our F1 journey - Kunal
great interview!
Thank you 😁 - Kunal
Geetings from the Netherlands. I can see you guy`s know a lot about Formula 1. Nice to hear you talk about it. I want to mention something. The new tarmac was installed 60 days before the GP. That makes it for me even more impressive how Max drove this race. It must have been so slippery as hell.
Thanks for that input, Johan. - Kunal
Glad i found this Podcast.
Thank you for your patronage, happy to have you on our F1 journey.
Yeah and i haven't read many pieces of news to comment about that breach aborted start of Norris. It was too lenient :)
Yes, strange that RBR didn't make too much noise about it either! - Kunal
Alpine indeed earned and deserved this podium, clearly shows the driver talent they have, if only they could've a better car :'
Indeed, the rain is a great leveler; and OCO, specifically, has always been there the minute the weather mixes things up. - Kunal
@@insidelinef1 Correct, ocon has always stood out in mixed conditions
Those stats shower by sundaram in the mid segment 🤌🫡
Great and Apt stand by Kunal Over Aborted Start penalty. The awareness of max about rules and procedures is amazing, thats what makes him great. If he would've done this breach , penalty would've been different 😀
Haha, thank you, Pranav. I wish someone brings this up in Las Vegas, if not, I will see if I can speak about the start breach on Viaplay. - Kunal
@insidelinef1 Will look forward to it 🙌
Thanks for addressing the class of Max , he deserves much much more credit for the drive! And for those who are saying it's luck, managing those inters literally on a river after 25+ laps tyre age where everyone is slipping around is no mean feat. This drive is surely going into the history books 🫡
Moreover the decision of staying out even after they had a chance to pit under VSC, then again under Safety Car when they could've but didn't and waited for red flag was genius
Lando is correct. Max is lucky. Nothing else. We are alive & kicking today enjoying good food, good company, good job, etc due to the run of good luck we have. Lando knows LUCK has a Creator which dictates everything. Talent & skill succumbs to LUCK.
That's true, and deep. No doubt that luck plays a part with everything in life. I think I extrapolated what "luck" means in the Formula 1 sense of things, too. But that decision to *not* pit in Brazil and wait for a race interruption was bold decision making...backed by bolder driving, and above all else, experience. Either way, if VER didn't get lucky, I'd have loved to see his fight back from whatever place and maybe the race would've been even more interesting then! - Kunal
@insidelinef1 Thanks, yeah he was lucky to have Jo's in the early years too.
Lucky? Can i assume q2 was bad luck then? Is it luck to stay out when it rains so hard that the camera picks up standing water on track and almost everyone on inters? Sure Max couldn't know an accident would happen during SC... But he could have calculated he could drive away and just wait for another SC to pit while having track position. He needed 12 seconds between him and Lando for that. And that's just reading the track conditions and knowing sorry to say this Lando is not as good as him in the rain. Nothing to do with luck that's just looking for excuses for your own bad drive from p1 to p6 and everyone with no bias sees that. Btw he ended 31 seconds in front of Lando he didn't even needed that red flag to win.
No luck. Strategy !
39:30 Sauber have something to celebrate this weekend. They registered the fastest pit stop of the race!
From their slowest stops at the start of the year...to this. Btw, they upgraded their pit equipment in Imola and have been consistent ever since - Kunal
16:38 Sets a bad precedence. I think Leclerc for his F word received harsher penalty than Norris for aborted start. It's very poor from Norris, Russell and both RBs. Lack of knowledge on sporting procedures? Teams should have also alerted them about the aborted start procedures.
Yeah, and a much harsher penalty, like I said in the podcast - Kunal
First!
proper knowledge man
lewis deserve it
My favourite circuit. I consider it the best circuit in the current F1 calendar. Wish Sao Paulo continued to be the season finale. 21:22
True, that would be a higher guarantee of an epic ending to a season. But well, money talks...or in this case, "money races" ;-) - Kunal
so are you guys saying interlagos overtaking characteristic was the only reason for 2021 Hamilton charge !!! was it the track/ W12 / Driver ?!?!?
It was a mix of all those elements...plus a new power unit! - Kunal
Sebastian Vettel 😊 10:50
He's doing something special in Brazil today (or right now, as I type this). - Kunal
You almost gave me a heart attack! 😱 For a second there, I thought Soumil was really leaving the show! Can't wait for the 'SOUM-pagne' era on the podcast! 🥂
Just finished listening the the audio version.. great podcast guys, keep it up
Great show, but the sound levels are completely out of balance. Soumil is so much louder than the others. It was too difficult to listen to.
Hello, yes, our audio levels went out of whack in this episode and it was too late before we caught it! We've put more checks and balances in place so that this doesn't repeat hereon. Many thanks. Kunal
Didn't realise you had a RUclips channel!! Have been following your podcasts on Spotify...and suddenly adding faces to the voices I have become/am becoming familiar with has caught me off 😊 a bit. A new F1 follower that I am, and quite enjoy listening to you. Thanks! And of course Let's's go Ferrari Let's go!!
Thanks, Jayashree. Always a pleasure to read comments from our listeners/viewers. We've been experimenting with a new video presentation setup and I hope you like it. Happy to be along the F1 journey with you - Kunal
Thanks for answering my Mercedes question. I've turned into your regular viewer. I follow cricbuzz chatter for test cricket preview and review, and now inside line for F1. Love unbiased and fun insights!❤😁 Bold prediction for Mexico: At least one DNF on opening lap between top 4 rows!
Glad to have you along on our F1 journey, Adwait. Look forward to more interactions with you along the way. It is soon time for Qualifying! - Kunal
VERY GOOD ❤ THANKS GUYS
You're welcome 😍
McLaren has had a lot of learnings this year😢😂
Indeed, and they have learned well, too. :-) - Kunal
1. Max was clearly ahead at the apex (which is mid of the corner) , do watch the skysports analysis for the same 2. Both went out agreed but max was normally moving, while Norris accelerated and overtook off the track which is why he got penalty 3. The same happened in Austria where max went out and overtook off the track and got penalty (10 seconds), so Norris also deserved the same here 4. Norris was moving under breaking in turn 1 which is also illegal 5. It was Max's first track limits warning and Norris's final track limits warning 6. If Norris would've given the position back then and there could've avoided the penalty and still he could've beat Max as he had massive tyre advantage and car advantage as well. Fair and Square! Cheers 🥂
That's a sensible breakdown of events, Pranav. Many thanks for sharing. The Mexico preview is out on Wednesday, look out for that. Have a question or two you would like for us to answer? Feel free to leave it here. Keep racing! Kunal
That's the crazy thing to me, why his engineer etc. didn't tell him to give the place back just makes no sense to me yet McLaren do more McLaren things constantly
Like I said in the podcast, they let their emotions get in the way of judgment - Kunal
What Max did wasn't smart, it was dirty. It is similar to Brazil, Saudi and Abu Dhabi 2021, where he entered the corners with no intention of making the corner. He did the same in Budapest 2024 and still Hamilton was blamed for the crash. Yes, as per the current rulebook Max was entitled to the corner as he was ahead at the apex. He was entitled to push Lando off the track if he had kept himself within white lines. But he didn't actually make the corner, he too went off, and that should be a penalty for forcing the driver off track. If not, it's quite easy to not break at all when there is a huge runoff area like Austin T1, especially when the attacking driver has committed to go around the outside. Thoughts?
Yes, Adwait. It wouldn't be a stretch to call some of VER's defenses "dirty" and we've seen that in the past. VER is capable of stretching the "grey" rules of racing, and gets away with it most times. I'm eager to see how NOR responds to VER's aggressiveness, if he does respond at all, that is. And of course, if there was gravel on the outside, both drivers would've raced differently... The Mexico preview is out on Wednesday, look out for that. Have a question or two you would like for us to answer? Feel free to leave it here. Keep racing! Kunal
Yeah Kunal... I don't see Norris winning the championship now. I would like you to shed some light on Mercedes. What's happening there... ? McLaren, Red Bull, Ferrari are clearly the Top 3. Aston and lower midfield are sorted in their places. Sauber is dead last. But only Mercedes are in the middle of nowhere. Nothing seems to be working for them and they're always in the news for negative reasons lately.
We'll get to this question in the next episode ;-)
