This is a passage from the Valmiki Ramayana, where Lord Rama tells Lakshmana: "Lakshmana, I have no desire even for the golden Lanka, for a mother and one's motherland are greater than even heaven itself." अपि स्वर्णमयी लंका न मे लक्ष्मण रोचते। जननी जन्मभूमिश्च स्वर्गादपि गरीयसी॥ यह वाल्मिकी रामायण का एक प्रसंग है। भगवान राम कहते हैं, लक्ष्मण! मुझे स्वर्णमयी लंका भी अच्छी नहीं लगती; क्यों की माता और मातृभूमि स्वर्ग से भी बढ़कर होती हैं”
