Michelin CrossClimate 2 - Colorado Snowstorm - Hill Performance
Thanks for the video. I just bought a set. How many miles did you get out of them?
Just got a set a few weeks ago. I was lazy and ran Blizzaks for 3 years year round on my MDX before switching. Hope they never discontinue this tire as it seems it meet all of my needs although they cost me $1200
9 days without a shower 😢😢
Thank you for sharing your post op healing as I will be going in soon for a partial knee replacement using the robotic arm.
2 seasons in how are they holding up???
The last piece you pulled off is supposed to stay on there until it comes off on its own. It’s mesh that is glued and you can leave open to air as long as it’s not draining with that to make sure you don’t bust open the incision. That’s what most of the surgeons where I live do.
Fitted a set of these to my wife’s Subaru Forester (diesel manual) here in the U.K. and it forgot to snow ! But they do perform well in wet weather too and they’re quiet. Will be fitting them to our VW camper van when it’s due tyres 👍🏻🇬🇧
Gloves?
Part of my knee is still numb and I had mine in September, the scar is very neat and not had an appointment yet to see the specialist, it was for this month but they have cancelled it x
Mine didn't look that bad.
What happened?
Knee replacement
@@JohnSmith-nu4fx those are a bitch!! I hope you recover quickly.
Tf happened to you my boy
RUclips recommended doing it's 2am thing again
for real
I LOVE these tires! Just switched from All-Season Nokian to Michelin CrossClimate 2 and tested in the first Chicago's Snow/Blizzard storm and BOY, What a difference these tires can make! The tires also are much more quiet than my Nokians. Overall, in my opinion, if you are looking for solid performance in winter from an all-season tire, don't let the pirce of these tires hold you back!
Thanks for a realistic drive. Not like the people driving in their neighborhood 😂
My question is, does the rubber on this tire remain pliable in cold weather like a true winter snow tire?
Just clean the snow off your A pillar fir a much better video
The AWD helped this to be fair 🤣
I enjoyed watching your drive through snow video. Just came to say that. Gave me some positive flashbacks. Thank you!
You would have been even safer with two hands on the wheel and the camera in the hands of a passenger...I'm sure the person you kill would be ok with it seeing you were shooting a RUclips video...dolt.
Damn, now I need to buy a Land Cruiser to go with these premium tires.
So you are the idiot following me so closely in a snowstorm. Pass or back off! Think about the physics and timing, Mensa! Geez us!
Wow! no chain, no snow socks? Just bare tire? This is amazing!
Can barely hear a word of what your saying…. What kind of vehicle your driving….boring…nuff said.
Going up great. What about down?
See timestamp 3:15.
Thinking of putting them on my 2007 Ridgeline . Live here in Canada
i put these tires on my car and they are dangerous ... in the wet they are so grippy that when i went in my moms car i forgot that she doesnt have these tires and i was too agressive and slid in to a corner XD
umm, did the tires cause you the accident or did you do it yourself? I think it's drivers fault (obviously not skilled enough), not the tires.
I have the same tires on two vehicles and really like them. What is going on with your dash lights?
Thanks for producing and posting the video. Good confirmation of what's been advertised about the CC2s. Purchased a set in July and in addition to some all weather road trips I have driven on dry, wet, sandy and muddy trails in the hills around Wendover UT as well. They work great everywhere. Still have a final seasons left on my Blizzaks so I figured I'd have to wait for snow but, road trip coming up and the Bliz's have a woob woob noise at highway speed. So I'll make the switch early and enjoy a great ride south and not worry about 'running risk' with snow when we return in a couple of weeks. Actually hoping for snow now. Touareg TDI
Just bought a set for my daughters Impreza AWD. Her safety is my #1 and those tires are the best ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐THANK YOU MICHELIN 👍✌
Some complain loss of fuel economy but life is more important than fuel economy. I won't know until summer if fuel economy is down on my Fusion Hybrid but the fuel efficient tires I had would slide in 1 inch snow if more than 4 inches I would get stuck. With these tires I think it could handle 10 inches of snow.
I don’t understand, with the visibility so low, how can you possibly be driving without your lights on, and I see quite a few drivers coming from the opposite direction without their lights on. Aggravating, those people should get fined.
I live in Canada and I believe that those all weather tires are not my best purchase! My advice, Go for the real winter tires if you want real security on the roads.
don't forget ..the Michelin Cross Climate 2 , it's a 4 seasons tire ...not a winter tire ...good experience
Dude, you did buy the cheap option. If you had bought cheaper tyres then you would have either crashed, or worn out the cheap ones. Those tyres will do 60,000 miles. I did 60k on Cross Climate 1's in an Audi A4 quattro.
Thomas tires are excellent never belived in all season tires and i'm happy to be dissapointed
my experience with CrossClimate has been excellent for the past 4 years, unbelievably good value for money!
even more amazingly is they performed just as well till the day i replaced them at legal limit
how are they dealing on icy hills?
All european all season tires are very capable in the winter. But in the US and Canada "all season" means something different, and that brings some confusion. But still, CC stand out in snow performance, even in Europe.
Im torn between these tires and the Falken Wilderness A/T tires for my SUV. The Falkens are all-terrain and they also have the mountain/snowflake designation for winter/snow performance. And like these tires, everyone just absolutely raves about them in snow, but also offroad too.
I was in the same boat as you. Falken WildPeaks Trail or CrossClimate 2. From what I have found is if you do a lot of off-road driving Falkens WildPeaks are great. But if like me you do more road driving then CrossClimate2's. I drive a 2019 Outback and went with the CrossClimate's as I do mostly road driving. I have a K5 Blazer for off road stuff. Both tires were hard to find in my size though, especially the CrossClimates
I got the Wildpeak A/T Trails for my ‘21 Impreza. I was looking at the CrossClimates too but the Falkens were $50 per tire less. I was also very impressed with them in the snow since I had put them on our Honda Odyssey the year before and drove over an Oregon mountain range in a snowstorm and they did awesome even on the FWD. but I may try out the Michelins next.
I got these, in Greater Toronto Area, Ontario, AWD Highlander. Yes, AWD helps, YES, Hybrid Traction motor for a rear differential also helps with instant torque & no transmission link delay. YES, it IS mighty better than All Season (really 3 seasons) because of the hybrid soft rubber compound. YES, you’ll lose a few mpg-Km/L but I didn’t notice the big 2-5 mpg other reviewers complained about (maybe 1-2 mpg, so keep checking your cold tire pressure weekly especially in winter, when mine was 2psi low, I lost 80-100 km to my tank 😖) THEY WERE MADE FOR EUROPE’s recently crazy weather: 20•Celcius to -2•C in short periods. They get: snow, slush, ice rain, regular rain, hail etc in 1 week/month, in some areas. Weather chaos (global warming byproduct) is happening here too in the North American snow belt. Every Winter is an El Niña winter, every summer is El Niño.) SO: CC2 works best in heavy rain due to their V shaped venting open groove pattern. Their Hybrid temp activated Softer rubber makes them much better than all season/3season and as good as a mid-low NON-CHINESE brand name winter tires. YES, they are GOOD on SNOW (virtually NO practicle difference than you’re average mid-grade snow tires, but still there is a slight difference, just don’t pretend you have dedicated snow tires, in winter generally, one ought to drive carefully & cautiously = slower, but not 3season snail pace) YES, they are adequate on THIN ICE on salted roades. With AWD they can handle packed SNOW but you have to do the handling as well with your stearing wheel. NO NO NO, they will NOT grip on ICE like dedicated high end winter tires especially those designed for ICE like Hakka3s Blizzaks or X-ice. a special NO TO BLACK ICE; XTRA SPECIAL NO NO NO for BLACK ICE on a highway (100-130 km/hr: 55-70 mph) XTRA XTRA XTRA special NO NO NO NO IF HIGHWAY BENDS. These roads are typically categorized as NON-TREATED (no salt, sand, beet juice sugar) or POORLY TREATED (Plows did 1 pass several hours ago) Example 2019 I drove the SAME CAR with DEDICATED SNOW GOODYEAR ULTRA GRIP WINTER Contact ICE on a side rural road that WAS NOT AT ALL TREATED. If i moved my stearing wheel even very slowly 15 degrees, my tires would’ve lost traction & ended up in a ditch. It was like wearing flat italian smooth bottom wedding Shoes on an ice rink. Or so it felt. Obviously the tires had some grip & traction cause I got home safely, but the point is u’d need STUDDED tires for UNTREATED THICK BLACK ICE. Even then, be careful. Will I buy’em again: If I’m cash strapped that year: YES (1 set is cheaper than 2) they are IMPRESSIVELY WONDERFUL so far. Because the streets are plowed & treated regularily in big cities. So if u are in NYork: YES, Alaska: probably NO. Also, they DO OVER STEER a bit. Do I believe dedicated SNOW/ICE tires on dedicated rims are the way to go in Canada & US snow belt YES. It saves tire tread & cheaper than wrecking a $65K car/SUV. Plus, you feel better handling, steering, stopping etc.
You will never catch me on the interstate in a snowstorm. All the car pileup is notorious in snowstorm on the interstate
What's the big deal? Do steeper grades in my Truck with Toyo ATIII tires in deeper snow. Most likely my Hyundai with goodyear all-weather can do the same. Sounds like someone is really easy to impress.
you never saw snow in your life
I saw a review of these CC2’s and he had 30k miles on them and gauged the tread depth at 7 to 8 mm. So they only wore 2-3 mm in 30 k miles ! Definitely can get 60k miles as advertised. This link is a detailed review of the CC2 tires. ruclips.net/video/PT2odY3C6Og/видео.html
Ramble from a guy up in Rollinsville CO, have had these on my VW Alltrack for about 1.5 years now. Out the gate, they're superb in torrential rain, wet snow up my steep road was solid til maybe 10" or so (compared to my Winter Command tires, those things plowed through maybe 16" of powder and 12" of wet uphill even from dead stops). At half tread, they show a bit of age on the slush, but still rather solid on packed snow... by which I mean "I need to go about 5mph below the speed limit on slush, and can only go the speed limit on snow" lol. New winter tires, I could floor my car and zero traction loss in any condition, CC2's had a little bit of TCS kick in for dirt/snow out the gate. At half tread, can still safely stop and start from standstill up/downhill without any slow sliding, tested on Loveland Pass today in the slush/snow, also tested them this winter around my roads as a safety stop test. I found them to be kinda bad in the mud last year though, even new, I had to really goose it around my roads (never got stuck but I don't like having to floor my car around dirt roads with bad traction). I still give em a 10/10 though for what they are. I'm considering getting new winter tires soon to be 100% safe since I drive long distance 3x/wk up/down to Denver, but completely recommended for anyone in suburban areas with semi-use in trash conditions, and still highly recommended if you live in snowy areas for the "year round" part, you just have to be content going the speed limit or slightly below when they wear *sigh* lol.
I don't drive any different in the snow ❄️
I got a set and live them!
Very expensive, but I'm going to replace my original Michelin all season tires, next year, because of age, not mileage. My large, rear wheel drive car has always been crappy in the snow.
My wife's 2016Toyota Rav4 and now my 2019 KIA Niro Hybrid has Cross Climate 2s. Hers have been on over a year and are still perfect. I just put them on my Niro this week. Not much snow in Kansas but the Primacy Michelins (OEM) were awful in the rain, and when it did snow slid all over the place. I expect that will all improve now. She has never had problems in the wet or the few times it has snowed.
I was always really impressed with not only their snow performance, but in the wet as well. Just like I made the comment about driving in a snowstorm feeling "like a Sunday drive", I had the same experience in heavy rain. We don't get a lot of rain here in Colorado, but when it comes it's torrential.
Michelin Primacy tires are absolute junk!
@jeffreycheng5984 I replaced the Primacy tires with the Cross Climate 2.
Buy an Audi and you won't need them..What do you call them?? Snow tires? ...
All season tires.

... honestly feel like a Sunday drive...😆Thank you for making this video. I do enjoy my CC2 for the last 19 months/37,000 miles now on a FWD HEV between 104~-40F temperature and so far they are much safer/quieter/stable/responsive/traction than the OEM Michelin Energy Saver A/S. I had to put on winter tire (Michelin X-Ice Xi3) two months after buying the car in 2019; however, got the CC2 just before that winter was over and had never put the Xi3 winter tire back on since then. The pace of mind of never have to think about the cost or when to swap the tire (or wondering if I swapped too early or too late) at any condition is a good lifestyle for me. Recently saw a professional review comparing this tire with the dedicated new Micheline X-Ice Snow and the result is: IN SNOW CONDITION ONLY, the CC2 is 94% as capable as Micheline's own dedicated snow tire in breaking/acceleration/handling but WAY BATTER in all other conditions and seasons. I know I can be a responsible driver by applying 6% of carefulness and awareness when driving in poor winter conditions on the road while getting free front/rear directional tire rotation from my garage whenever they are to remove the tires off to inspect/service my breaks yearly.
This is exactly my feeling as well. Are they 100% as capable as something like the X-ice or or a Blizzak? No, but are they +90% as good without needing to do a change over, or just staying home .05% the rest of the time? Absolutely.
@@JohnSmith-nu4fx Here is my math: X-Ice Snow is 6% improvement over the X-Ice Xi3 in the snow and X-Ice Xi3 is 10% better than X-Ice Xi2 in the snow so, CrossClimate 2 is 94% as good as X-Ice Snow in the snow so the CrossClimate 2 is as good as a dedicated snow tire from two years ago except, it can also be used at any season and perform as well as any premium All-Season and All-Weather tires. Good enough for me... since I don't drive like I have a broken right foot in any condition!
@@Jeo-WhatI love driving in snow storms when there’s no one else on the road. It’s so peaceful. But as I’m getting older I avoid driving in the snow. I think it’s also bc I no longer put in blizzak and have cc2 instead. The cc2 are good, but def not as sure footed as my blizzak. Esp since we have a lot of steep inclines, the cc2 def struggles compared to the blizzaks. But the winters have been getting warmer here and the cc2 performs much better in any other road condition besides snow/ice. I’m also too lazy to switch tires 2x per year.
i drove highway 6 in a blinding snow storm in my brand new vw bug , regular from Dillion to Denver before the Eisenhower tunnels used love land pass
