Acoustic music at its best when a talented duo (Pete and Anne Sibley) cover an original song with the writer John Lowell. "To have such amazing musicians do one of my songs - it's such an honor." John Lowell.

Ben Bullington "I Despise Flies"

Ben's song "I Despise Flies" performed at the Station Inn in December, 2012. Rodney knows it but Darrell hasn't heard it - it's great to watch his reaction and hear the audience's. From Ben's new CD "Lazy Moon." At this event, J.D. Souther (legendary songwriter) stood at the back door while this song was playing and called the next day to get a copy. It's something we can all agree on.... www.b...
Thanks to RUclips for keeping John Prine alive for me. An hour of Johns performances floods my emotions with sadness and thankfulness for losing him and knowing him. I listen for a while then I pull out one of my stringed friends to perform my favourite s of the day tunes. Here goes another tears and smiles session .
I have had the pleasure of knowing Larry since 1965 (or so). Used to go to a jam at his mom and dad's house. The house was full of bluegrass players and when they played, you could feel the whole house vibrate through the floor. Larry's dad was also a great bluegrass player and a great guy, as is Larry.
FANTASTIC !!!!
Its amazing to hear music like his. And how it so much better than the scrap they play on the radio today, over and over and ...
Ain’t it the truth? His music lives on, though. He’d be delighted.
Great song. Love John Lowell guitar playing !
San Judas Tadeo John Prine
Tres belle chanson j adore ❤❤
One of the nicest singer ever
Awww😭
The American government is limited not the people !!
Do not compare him to bob dylan
No comparison Prine was the incomparable song writer !
We first heard Ben perform and met he and his wife at the 30A Songwriter’s Festival in Destin FL about 12 years ago and we became instant fans and friends. He was not only a fantastic songsmith but he was a super nice fellow who was as genuine as old leather. His voice is sorely missed!

Mark Oconnor & Jerry Douglas?Holy crap.

Brilliant!
Love this song!
Nailed it... 😎
Long Live John Prine! What a great upload!! Thank you!
Thank you for uploading! If you have a minute, I recorded some original music. As a fellow music lover, I'd love if you would check it out. It's on my channel. I appreciate it!
One of my all time favorite John Prine songs. A great insight into how people decide who to vote for-- "Voted for Eisenhower because Lincoln won the war."
It's the cutest thing 😻
That crazy bone what a great country man s song writer singer
I love this song, it puts me to mind of my dad. His grandpa was a carpenter who took him, his sister, and brothers on along with his granny to raise. My dad loved them more , I think than he could say. His grandpa died of a heart attack with his head laying in my dads lap on the way to the hospital. My dad was a heck of a guitar picker, and a preacher. Him and his older brother both played the guitar as did their dad. Wow! Sorry about rambling on, but I sure miss him.
Level on the Level!
If John designed & built the first J-60, & that guitar is floating around out there now, what kind of guitar is John currently playing?
...steps never really thought about to follow, but worth mentionin.
💙 🇺🇸 💜 🇺🇸
Killer! Had to break out my guitar and play along (lucky you weren't here!).
This is the one I remember the most. But I wore 2 of the circle CD’s out
He's dead but he still sings!Great legacy he left us!
It's an absolute shame to a great legendary singer/song writer that they used the covid farce as the cause of his death.
“Grandpa Was a Carpenter” Boy THAT was fun! What a great talent and what a great guy John Prine was! Thank you so much for posting this. Aren’t we fortunate to live at a time when so many performances were recorded and to have a forum like this to share them with each other? 🧨🧨
Thanks Kris. I'm here thanks to you.
Scapegoat.....R.I.P.
i told some co workers, granted they are younger than me John Prine died today . they said who? i said one of the best folk artists this country has even seen. i played them some i had. they said i like them all
That’s a shame. He died on my 23rd birthday it was a full pink moon that night.
Can't deny quality. I like John Prine's every tune, he was amazing.
No more RIP’s!!! John Prine is never dead. NEVER.
One of the best singer/songwriters and a nice guy. I ran into him at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville in the 90’s. He was there just to listen. Got a photo with him. A huge loss to the world. His music will live on.
Another heartbreaking loss...John's music sure influenced my growing up and never got to say thanks except buying all he ever put out for sale and bootleg's too. i can recall his words to songs without looking them up and same for Dylan..it must be that i have same frequency? desolation row, sam stone, lily rosemary and jack of hearts still remember lyrics but can't tell you what day it is..hummm John will continue to sing in my house till its my turn to "step over" that rainbow...
It took me damn near 50 years to find the music that effects me to my core. The first time I really listened to John Prine, I was completely blown away. He drew from a deeper well of emotion than anyone I'm aware of, and he made it seem effortless. The man was incredibly gifted, and his final album was as good as his debut. We've lost some amazing songwriters in the last few years. Guy Clark was a tough one, Merle, but none hit harder than John Prine. He was gaining steam at 72, and cut down so quick.
Oh, grandpa wore his suit to dinner Nearly every day No particular reason He just dressed that way Brown necktie and a matching vest Both his wingtip shoes He built a closet on our back porch And put a penny in a burned-out fuse Grandpa was a carpenter He built houses, stores and banks Chain-smoked Camel cigarettes And hammered nails in planks He was level on the level And shaved even every door And voted for Eisenhower 'cause Lincoln won the war Well, he used to sing me "Blood On The Saddle" And rock me on his knee And let me listen to the radio Before we got T.V. Well, he'd drive to church on Sunday And he'd take me with him too! Stained glass in every window Hearing aids in every pew Grandpa was a carpenter He built houses, stores and banks Chain-smoked Camel cigarettes And hammered nails in planks He was level on the level And shaved even every door He voted for Eisenhower 'cause Lincoln won the war Now my grandma was a teacher Went to school in Bowling Green Traded in a milking cow For a Singer sewing machine Well, she called her husband "Mister" And walked real tall and proud And used to buy me comic books After grandpa died Grandpa was a carpenter He built houses, stores and banks Chain-smoked Camel cigarettes And hammered nails in planks He was level on the level And shaved even every door And voted for Eisenhower 'cause Lincoln won the war
thank you for the lyrics. wasnt john a wonder?
not many can write anymore. trash lyrics, sampled music, we heard real words & music, born of intelligence and heart
God bless John Prine
Everybody is coming to all the posts that feature John. A common man, yet so unique and talented. I miss him already.
He had a great sense of humor and a brilliant singer/song writer.
Love the Fiddle.. But I need Closed Captions . Where are they ?
Very cool ! cheers
This man had gold inside of him and he found a way to share it all with us all. How rare is that? Thank you John for all that you gave. I will remember you with love.
I look around this room and see so many of my favorite musicians, from Jerry Douglas Randy Scruggs And Mark O'Connor and John Prine all still Young, and I feel The loss even More.
