Hay I am a home distiller , and me and alot of other people can't afford barrels so we've been thinking about making oak lids for mason jars and leaving them on their sides as a pore man's barrel , You would have to char the inside and maybe make it go into the jar a bit and drill holes and little way into it to get the most char area . Someone with the get up and go might make a bit of money with the right marketing .I don't have a lath so I was just going to rasp out a couple from some English oak that had come down in a storm and use bees wax around the edges to make them kinda air tight
