Best Sheepshead bite I have had in years!
My friend Dan was able to drop me off out at the CBBT this last week. Took about 15-20 minutes to find them, but once we did it was every drop every piling. Caught around 15 Sheepshead and 5 Tautog in less than 3 hours time and then we swapped seats. I got on the boat while he fished from the kayak.

After catching so many Sheepshead from the kayak. I let my friend Dan get into the kayak and switched positions. We both killed them for another 5 sheepshead each in about a 45 min period. The bite continued to be absolutely fire even as we left.

Finally got a chance to take the kayak out to catch some sheepshead as they start to come into the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. Even though mid day we were caught up into some rain, we were able to finish with and catch over a two man limit of sheepshead.

Got out with my buddy Jesse on his Oldtown kayak which I can say has alot of Pros and Cons compared to my Outback. We were able to get such a variety of different species on this day which is awesome for this time of year.
Fall fishing for Sheepshead and Tautog

Was able to get out to the CBBT for the afternoon to target some Sheepshead and Tautogs. Water temps were at 69 degrees and current was moderate. North winds which give the south end of the bridge a sketchy launch and landing. Caught a ton of short togs but at least the bite has been getting better as I target them for the late Fall and winter months.

Got a chance to go out late afternoon to target some speckled trout for about 2 hrs. Bite is certainly turning on in the river.

First I apologize for the horrible quality of the video the water was constantly splashing me in the face and wind was horrible as you can see. We sent out for a decent fishing spot and grabbed our limit and dipped out just in time to miss a huge storm.

Finally got a day nice enough to hit up the bridge again targeting sheepshead. Dan was able to throw my kayak into his boat to the middle of the bridge.

Finally got some clear weather to head out to the Chesapeake Bay bridge. We able to get 11 keepers that day and tons of short ones. Wind picked up in the afternoon so had to call it early.

Last minute run with my friend to the Elizabeth River for few hours before sunset. Water seems to be warming up a bit and the bite was decent. Missed a bunch but was able to take home 4 nice fish.

Took my buddy Dan's boat out for a morning run and his friend Brad out for his first Sheepshead trip to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. Caught over 12 nice fish and kept a few for dinner.

Headed out offshore for some Tile fish and smoked them. I was able to catch 9 different Species thoughout the day. What an awesome time with the boys. I apologize for the language in the background here and there.

@just1morefishing676 awesome, I would love to check it out. I'm sure that's a rocket ship. My junk made some dyno pulls and made 969 at 5800 rp. I ,ran out of fuel pump and the injectors went to 99% on the duty cycle.

Probably no bigger impact fish finders provide than for Sheepshead. Game changer.

@@just1morefishing676 Reds and snook, but the majority of big sheeps are in or near deep water docks, rocks, and piers. They do occasionally feed near the surface, and you can do it, but not often. I've emailed Jesse several times to see if he'd be interested in guiding me if I brought my Predator PDL up to the CBBT and have yet to get a reply. Would you be interested, or have any suggestions?

Do you ever just spotlock next to the pilings? Or is it easier to propel at a constant speed into the current then just make adjustments left and right? Thanks
Sometimes the spot lock acts funny under the bridge but because you see the bite was so hot today you really didn’t have to be next to the piling long. I feel if I can pull that fish away from the piling while fighting it won’t spook the rest of the fish there as well.

Yes I like the downscan on this unit. I know it’s an old fish finder but it still works great for finding them if you know how to read it and know what you are looking at.

I think around this time all the way to end of September is the best time to catch them.
Love to see you slaying the sheep all the big ones are very old if you respect the fishery and enjoy catching them it would be better to keep the smaller ones then the bigger ones but to each is own 👍
I rarely keep the big ones. But sometimes that’s all you catch
