Sabre Wulf ZX Spectrum Walkthrough 100% Complete!
Sabre Wulf is a highly addictive ZX Spectrum game, written by Ultimate and released in 1984, which I've played off and on (more off than on!) for about 29 years. I have a soft spot for this 48K tour de force, as I remember my late mother being driven to distraction trying to complete it! For a long time, I didn't think that it was possible to score 100% at the end screen of the game, but, as you can see from the game I uploaded, it is possible if you visit every one of the 256 rooms on the map and collect all of the items. Sound easy? Why not give it a go!
This one's for you mum.

    Must have played this a fair bit but don't remember getting very far. I remember thinking it looked great but didn't have the same magic as Atic Atac

    One of my favourite games when I was young. But I only managed to complete it when I was 11 with some infinite lives poke.

    this video took me back 30+ years in late 80s when we used to beat this game. I got so frustrated once that i took a graph papre and drew a map of the whole damn thing. It took me and my siblings months to beat it. we never cared about collecting items. just completing it was the thing. this video brings back so many memories.

      I always waited for my maps. Generally got them in crash magazine. Best magazine ever!

    Wow... I haven't seen this game in over 30 years! Completely forgot it even existed but I now remember loving playing this for hours on end and absolutely shiting it every time I encountered the wolf next to the southern mountain range. Lol. Thanks for the memories mate 😉

      Must as I love Sabre Wulf I have to disagree. The main character sprites of a lot of early Ultimate games are very choppy looking, like they didn't get the sync right between the character redraw and the tv frame redraw. Hewson games like Firelord or Starquake were far ahead for sprite animation quality

    I only completed this last year - am now 43 and have played it on and off for 30+ years!! I used the same strategy as in this vid (well done btw, I was nowhere near 100% despite completing it) i.e. wait for orchids to appear...

    I only completed this game a few times when I was a kid, the wonky hitboxes and rapid spawning enemies on you are the only real dangers, great game though. BTW because it's been so long since I played this so my mind is hazy, I'm sure the map gets rearranged when you playthrough again, would be great seeing someone complete that map.

      +slightlytwistedagain The maze in the game is always the same but the position of the various items, including the 4 amulet pieces, are randomly set when the game begins.

      ***** What I'm on about is when you play the game again after you've completed it, as in NG+ the map as some alterations.

    • @AmbersKnight
      @AmbersKnight 8 лет назад

      slightlytwistedagain The map itself never changes, it's always the same layout. The only thing that changes are the positions of the items. That is certainly true of the Spectrum original and all other versions that I know of. Hope that clarifies things.
