please for the love of God don't do that you will fray your line and you might break your reel instead of doing what he said pull the line gently and if you need to pull the nots carefully then grab and hold the line with one hand and reel with the other

For most backlashes (like 80-90% of the time) I’m able to pull the knots and then slowly pull the line until the knots come out. If it’s bad though you may just have to spool again unfortunately. Luckily the bad ones are pretty rare for me and usually the cause will be a combination of a big wind gust, bad cast, ect. It’s never just one thing it’s multiple things in hat go wrong at the same time so the bad backlashes are rare. those smaller backlashes come out real easily which make up the far majority.

Good luck with that it is true to try & untangle the knots on the spool but yiyr chance of realing & have it come out is very slim. What you need to do is check & adjust your brake but it also depends on when tbe backlash accures at the beginning of the cast or at the end of it. No matter you are going to get them keeping your thumb on the spool will definitely help prevent backlash's.

This is not a video on how to get rid of backlash. This is how to untangle. Make a video on how NOT to get backlash at all. Your setup is wrong.

If you "feather" the line when you cast, you'll not only avoid backlash, but you'll cast more accurately.

The best way to prevent big backlashes is do a good cast (without a backlash if possible) and pull out a little extra line like maybe 10 feet or so, then put a piece of tape across the line. Then reel in your line and recast. You may need to relocate tape as your casting ability improves. The tape is to stop the line from blowing up past your casting distance.

Nah this is dumb. Theres many different ways to skin a cat too (it's a saying, for those that have never heard it before) but that doesn't mean all of them are good ideas. I've never fixed a backlash like this in the 10 years I've been fishing and I make out fine.
