Getting a rusted on bottom blade off the sole plate
Hi mate just wondering where you bought your carby from. Mine is also leaking.
I am in Newcastle NSW and bought it from dmc mowers on the central coast they post at a reasonable price
It's a shame that the two batteries are not used in parallel. That would have extended the runtime significantly, and avoid the need for electronic switich over for the batteries.
Good information, watching in Dunedin, Florida, USA.
Mine is doing exactly the same thing I’d say you need new tension washers but I might give the rubber band a crack😂
Yes you do need new washers this is just a hack if you haven't got any spare washers
@@mowtech7397I’ve just discovered you can re bend your old ones👍 not sure how long they will last but it works
Thanks, for your tips. Good to know 👍🏻
Thanks for sharing 👍🏻
I've had mine for about 13/14 years and I honestly couldn't use the word lightness when speaking of it. Great thing though.
Thanks mate, awesome video
My Maruyama is pricey in Canada. I have a Solo for wetable powders and bleach or acetic acid, it has the diaphgram pump and it is a bu_ _ er to pump by hand. I would be over the moon if someone made a battery back pack for abrasive or strong solutions.
Stop using this toxic crap. If you think this stuff and other toxic chemicals dont make their way into your house, body, pets, birds and surrounding biomes then you are just a fool. Youll do much better by observing what weeds are present and then understand what the weeds are telling you what the soil is lacking, DONT SHOOT THE MESSENGER! Youre certainly a million brain cells short of a farmer or agri anything, make sure you visit all the people who you make sick before they die and say thanks to yourself when you also get sick from exposure longer term using this crap. Weeds are not the pest, weeds are what the soil needs to replenish something missing. Nature has one pursuit and that is to stabilise area and build biomass with end result being a diverse ecological forest which in turn supports everything! WAKEY WAKEY👁️👁️
Hi mate your videos are always very helpful thanks for all the commercial specific info it has helped me heaps 🙏
Thanks mate
thanks mate
Original bag works great, just shake it out each time to clear the vent mesh.
Thank you for this video. I have rheumatoid arthritis and was so thrilled when I got the brushless one. However, my experience was a bit different than what happened to you. I used them for perhaps a half hour the first day and they worked flawlessly. I oiled them before and after, per the instructions. The next time I used them I was only cutting those small branches off the main branch so fit more in the garbage can. They began making the exact noise you videoed and suddenly one blade and the part with a spring fell off the unit and to the ground. Even though I picked these up immediately and set them aside, I can now see that circular piece that flips by where you oil is gone. I thought I would just need a part, but I am guessing from your video that they are broken. I sure could have had the trimming done for me for less than $149 for a tool that lasted an hour or less. I have not had trouble like this with my other Ryobi tools.
Thanks ! Would you recommend the 325ilk ?
yes but I think there is a new model out not sure of the model number but it starts with a 5
Love your work mate,I use bag with mulch plug in on some lawns then the customers say wire what fertiliser did you use late winter, oh the nitrogen I say 😉
I have at least a dozen or more Ryobi tools and this one is my favorite and the one that gets used the most. I couldn’t even imagine the pain and possible injury I might have endured by using a manual pruner over this life saving device. The only problem I have is Ryobi doesn’t offer replacement blades so the options are trying to sharpen them or replace the entire tool. Oh well, with the amount of usage it gets, it would be worth it ☺️☺️☺️
Best one ever Made in history of Mowers in my opinion and you can’t change my mind
Very valuable information. I can clearly see exactly what you described and how it will improve the drive mechanism and future problems, which, after having welded the spline shaft to the adjuster, should remove any possibility of it recurring, leaving only one possible cause, cable adjustment/replacement.
OMG, I had one of these 10 years ago ????????
cool useful jig indeed 👍
Thanks for the review, glad you went into detail. I’m currently looking into getting a laser level for the job site and for home stuff. I just want to make sure it’s the right one for me. Also, my Canadian feelings are hurt now that you’ve reminded me winter is only 4-5 months away 😩. Last season was harsh in my area.
It is the middle of winter here on the east coast of Australia, its a great feeling that someone in Canada has watched one of my videos. The laser is really useful I have used it more than I thought I would . I used it a few days ago when I installed a towel rail and shaving cabinet into a new bathroom
Thanks for the short review👍
Hello, just wondering if you’ve ever lost one of the pins under the rubber boot. I have and wondered if it can be replaced like the two outer pins??? Of is it a whole shaft that is needed? Cheers
No the clips go over the pins to hold them in
Can you turn the self-propelled off?
You just don't push the back bar in. I do a mix of push and self-propel with mine. But maybe that's not quite what you meant by the question.
any oil in the gearbox? or is it sealed
It is sealed but yes there is oil inside, I have a friend who pulls them apart and fixes them
Thanks mate good job
Good to see you back mate, always value your opinion. Still can't see the point of these scissors though, cheers Steve.
Thanks for watching
Hi mate I have 3 mulchmasters 2 with briggs and 1 the Same as yours and I also had one from 2002 and the gearing in mind are all metal never seen a plastic one and with a mower so heavy like theses are the plastic would not last
Thanks, that was valuable. Got this in the 48 cm flavor this winter, in Lithuania, and then found out Bosch (a better company, imho, as it managed to completely leave the russian market, while Makita keeps on doing business with this aggressive terrorist dictatorship) released their first mower in the professional line, the GRA 18V2-46. It is extremely similar to the Makita ones in terms of exterior design, but has an "only" 46 cm blade. It seems nobody has reviewed it yet, unfortunately, it would be a very interesting watch... Anyways, Makita seems to have a regular blade pretty much everywhere except Australia and some neighboring regions perhaps, which get this x shaped one. As far as i know, nobody has made any comparisons in terms of running time and performance, which is a shame. On the other hand, I couldn't find this x shaped replacement blade for the 48 cm version on sale anywhere online (in Australia, or elsewhere), so perhaps it's only the thing with 53 cm one. Anyways, sticking with Makita and we'll see how well it does this summer in a homestead, where the conditions are rough and I'm not trying to maintain "a lawn". By the way, I get a strong feeling from watching 53 cm reviews the rear discharge hole is way larger on this one, compared to the 48 cm version, because the motor area is the same on both models. Frankly, I will be pleasantly shocked if mine will be able to fill this bag over 70 percent. By the way, Makita also has 64V mowers, which have considerably more power (2300 W vs 1900 W of these 40V ones), but take ridiculously large, otherwise worthless batteries. They also have a polycarbonate deck (apparently), which is supposedly both extremely tough and light, but I consider it a major minus due to the high toxicity of PC. EDIT: there's also at least one 64V mower (LM004J, 53.4 cm) with a metal deck too.

Being an old fart and looking at retirement, I personally will stick with petrol. Battery will catch up in time, but when I have to cut through some heavy shit, nothing beats a Stihl HS81R or a Husqvarna 522HDR75X!
Nice one
The front axle is actually attached to metal. The plastic is just a cover. You can verify this for your self by going to the makita website, navigating to the mower in question and viewing the parts pdf. Edit: looking at buying one myself. Weighing up my options between this, an Ego or sticking with fuel and getting a honda
What'd you decide to get and why? I own the Honda hrx 217hya lawn mower with the 200cc hydrostatic transmission, and it's a dream machine for 5 years, zero complaints other than I'm sick of gas, etc. I'm eyeballing this Makita and the Ego LMX5300SP commercial version.
@@shanew7361 Havent bought one yet. Getting a new home built on a large acreage and planning to have a large lawn area. This won't happen till years end though so I'll let you know when the time comes
If torqued according to Honda specifications the blades will be easy to swing. That’s the point of them.
You seem knowledgeable regarding this mower. Can you tell me what the "U" stands for in HRU216. I know H stands for Honda, R stands for rotary, 21 is the blade length, and 6 is for the horsepower of the engine.
Mate I have no idea .it could be utility
Thanks for your response. @@mowtech7397
What is the attachment on the due grinder called?
They call them roloc dics
I have inherited one of these and trying to figure something out. Does it "drive" both rear wheels or just the right? seem to not have any power on the left so it works but it's a pain to push.
Yes it drives both wheels you may have a problem with the wheel ratchets
@@mowtech7397 Thanks. Will pull it apart and see what's going on
@@mowtech7397Just fixed it. For some reason the ratchet on the left wheel had moved a few mm forward so it was no longer engaging (the wheel was spinning freely forwards and backwards without moving the axle). Pulled the wheel off and reseated everything. Click click click when going backwards and moves axle now when spinning forward. Thanks again!!!
I'm gonna give 2mm line a try now on my DeWalt 54v trimmer. I used 2×6ah, 4×9ah and 1×15ah batteries using 2.7mm line on a church job this week..... it's powerful, but loves to drink battery juice.
Love your relaxed down to earth review style, man. Thanks.
Thanks mate
Nice work mate.
any update?
Great video mowey, I’m a bit older as well , and can’t believe how thick some boys lay a top dressing down these days.
Great advice, very wise and clearly experienced.
Start 1st go after 8 years no use $ 600 " what a bargain !"
I have difficulty taking them out for someone to charge. Is there a trick or need to add some lubricant to the battery so it slides out? Thanks
I bang it on the ground but be careful if you do that as I have broken the casing by hitting it to hard maybe some lubricant would help
Best thing about this video is the simple instructions without any damn music
Thanks mate , I try to keep my videos short and to the point, I just wish I could edit them better
Thanks for the comparison review. I' was a big fan of the reciprocating saw with a pruning blade to trim off branches on the tree, but if the branch is already cut and on the ground, the reciprocating saw teeth sometime just shakes the branch and does not cut it until you grab it tight. I hope this small chainsaw works better for all that small loose stuff that needs to be cut up.
I would have immediately put some loam in the cracks (over here I use gin gin loam WA). Helps with any edge dry spots and has good water retention. Have a wheel barrow or two full on standby, water that in and roll it level and then after say 4-7 days I refill any cracks that have settled in from the watering in. Obviously I have a commercial roller mower that helps a lot with rolling in initially and then mowing a few weeks later.
Yeah if I was doing it again I would of filled the edges straight away. I think it will take a few light goes with sand to get it right . I may have some trouble with this lawn as its heavy clay 100mm down . So I have 100mm of sand then clay which is not ideal
How did you end up with 4 green bins mate?
Neighbours
@@mowtech7397 haha nice!
