    • @KeyRowGarage
      @KeyRowGarage 3 года назад

      James, Thanks for stopping by. Amateurs? Yes. Yes we were and are in many ways. We do this for the love of the craft. I've met very few people that have the courage to dive into a project they know nothing about. Willing to risk and learn from their mistakes. This truck sat for 46 years because members of my family wouldn't risk it. I am not one of those people. We risked it. We made mistakes and we have broken things. I'd still do it again. As for the engine, never overheated, never seized and is still running 6 years later. That truck with that same engine will deliver my oldest daughter to her wedding this summer. It's moments like these that get amateurs into the garage each week. We do it because of the memories and the stories. Some of my best stories are about mistakes and missteps I've made. They aren't failures if you learn something from them.

    • @KeyRowGarage
      @KeyRowGarage 3 года назад

      These rims are pretty common. We have a few spares. I'd really like to put some artillery style wheels on him. People see Clyde out and about and some will ask with a smile, "How Much?" I usually give the response, "Everything is for sale for the right price." A few years back, during the neighborhood-wide garage sale, we put a for sale sign on Clyde. It read, "For Sale. Slightly Used, Low miles. $2,000,000" No serious buyers that day. 😀

    I hate the sound of grinding gears the clutch is not engaging it's may need a adjustment or it may be the pressure plate or the clutch itself I would be shutting it down when steaming like that or you will overheat the engine. I bet the thermostat is stuck closed it could also be the rad and the engine needs a good flushing of all the rust and old coolant in the engine after sitting for a long time the coolant will gel up and clog up everything.

    • @KeyRowGarage
      @KeyRowGarage 3 года назад

    Also would do rebuild engine plus carb too & add 89 or higher octane gas with a grey bottle of STP Total Treatment fuel injection and carb cleaner in to ever tank then 3 months after too ! Plus flush fuel tank to also new fuel filter to for engine use no synthetic oil of 10w30 brand of White bottle or Jug of Castrol GTX type!

    • @KeyRowGarage
      @KeyRowGarage 3 года назад

      We agree, Andrew. The bottom of the engine needs to be rebuilt. Rebuilding the carb after Clyde comes of of winter hibernation this year. Funny story about the fuel tank, thing was full of stuff. We eventually changed it for a re-popped tank from Jim Carter Truck Parts.
