Fan bracket was downloaded as a STEP file. User is not happy with the shape of the hole. So we plug it first, then create a new hole. Using the external geometry tool and a symmetrical constraint in the Sketcher to find the centre of the piece. #FreeCAD #PartDesign #Sketcher

This is a modelling challenge from the famous "Model Mania" series by SolidWorks. Of course we can do it in FreeCAD, as well. I'm doing it in FreeCAD 0.20 because the Sketcher behaves so much better than in 0.19. #FreeCAD #ModelMania #SolidWorks #PartDesign

Made for r/FreeCAD. A simple square with tick marks on the edges (every 10mm). Could be some sort of 3D printed measuring tool I guess. Made in Part Design. Techniques used: sketch, pad, external geometry, pocket, multitransform, linear pattern, polar pattern, turntable. #FreeCAD #PartDesign

I made the model from ruclips.net/video/jduKCviZyoM/видео.html (TooTallToby) in FreeCAD 0.20. This is very quick and dirty and not necessarily showing best practices. With a bit more coffee & focus I could perhaps have done it better & quicker. You can see me making at least one mistake (and correcting it) in the video. FreeCAD chamfers work on edges, not on vertices. The video shows how you can still do it with some clever geometric tricks in Part Design. Demonstrated techniques: using sketches to position a plane in 3D space, polar pattern. FreeCAD 0.20, September 2021. Thanks for the tutorial. Shame key presses weren't visible as I spent ages trying to figure why my ShapeBinder was un-selectable 😅 Turns out you toggled the visibility of the first sketch at ruclips.net/video/aFXgTLe9L3A/видео.html. Loads of online help said "Hide" the sketch, which is also misleading as right-clicking and picking hide, is purely the tree view, where we need visibility. Got there in the end 🙂
Thank you for your comment. I think of my videos more as demos than as tutorials. So it's true that not everything is shown or explained. It would be much more work to point out every little operation. I'm glad you figured it out though. So, did you make the book case?
@@cinqsdemosandgames634 Thanks, it's well underway, but I'm probably trying to run before I can walk 😂 At the moment I'm seeing which part assembly workbench works best, as I thought it might be fun to make all the component pieces and then build them into an assembly. There are lots of repeated parts, think Ikea Kallax style. Ultimately, I want a cutting list and a material estimate, though I was held up by not pressing the space bar 😄

Going through the same thing myself... designing something with a soda bottle thread in it. Nice video, but parameters would be helpful. @@cinqsdemosandgames634 I've been on a retro RTS kick and the rabbit hole led me back to Wz. Over 20 years later and I still haven't found an RTS quite like this one. Love it
