Power Wagon Okie: Driver’s Education in a 2020 Ram Power Wagon
Just picked up a used 2022 Power Wagon which came with a lot of accessories. The previous owner spared no expense in getting it ready for off-roading: Carli-King shocks and suspension, 37" Nitto Trail Grapplers on Method rims including the spare, S Pod controller, Light bar, dual ARB compressors, rock sliders, throttle response controller, air bags in the rear, and a bunch more. I'm retiring in August and already have several trips planned. We're starting off easy to get used to the truck and do the Alpine Loop first, then Moab, then South Padre island to hit the beach and do some surf fishing. Wife wants to visit the Upper Peninsula of Michigan again too so we're going to be using the truck a lot!
... dont forget to fold your mirrors in.. wouldn't want to stick out too much in a full size truck.
That was not too bad... you did not have to even fold in the mirrors and your steps came out undamaged... :) Love the PwrWgn! I do think 35's or 37's might have made it a bit easier.
IMPRESSIVE for such big beasts, i work a guy who has i think a 21-22 but he uses it for towing. Are those stock except for bigger tires?
Nice video I enjoy seeing other power wagons out there! I traded my ZR2 in for a 22 power wagon in dark grey
Good move. I had a 2018 ZR2, turned to a money pit at around 53,000 miles.
Long wheelbase is bad for tight trails
Power wagon breaking power😂😂😂
I have a 2022 , looks just like yours, mine is a level two . I’ve had it 2 years now and finally going to 35’s I had to wait for the stock tires to wear down. I love it ! I had a 2020 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon and the Power Wagon is a big improvement, more room, comfortable, 12,000 lb. Warn winch. And POWER !!!
I just bought a lightly used 2022 Power Wagon that's also a Level Two. Fortunately, the guy who owned it before me had deep pockets and put a Carli King lift, suspension, and shocks on it as well as 5 Method bead lock rims with 37's already on. He also installed lights, sPod controller, onboard dual compressor, airbags in the rear, extending bed rack, and a bunch more. Can't wait for time off work to head off to Colorado nd see how she does.
I think I saw 1 person in this entire group that understands the importance of momentum. Its an 8000 lb truck guys, you have to keep it moving. You cant crawl in these like you can in a jeep.
Looking good! You going to add sliders? Rocker panels are quite expose. I know from experience, every outing, you are going to test the limits lol.
Yeah I plan on it, just not sure when lol
Dope video!
Your spotter is fired. Wtf
Yeah, still not happy about this lol
@@PowerWagonOkie 😛😂
@@PowerWagonOkie I just got a new PW and thinking about a scratch makes me sick.. LOL I’m mentally preparing for it.
Ist the white PW on 35s or 37s?
Small 35s. Aired down they’re basically 33s
Wish this truck had a tow rating better than a 1500. That’s why I went with a Tremor instead. It’s got both.
Yeah, If I towed more I absolutely would have gone Tremor as well! Fortunately I didn’t need the bigger towing numbers.
I don't ever see tremor videos, just power wagon killing it off road.
Your tremor can tow more but can't wheel like PW .. I have a HD Ram that can tow what you can but my 5 link can still wheel off road more than your tremor.. tremor is just a pavement princess 😂
@@ShaneEstabrooks cool story dude.
I have a PW but love the Tremor too. They are different beasts. For towing, hands down Tremor. For off-road, hands down PW. I wish I could have both! :)
I’m dreaming of the day I pick this thing up from the dealership
I’m 3 years in and it still feels like my first drive!!! They are awesome !
Love the PW content! I haven’t done much off-road with mine yet but seeing you running without rock sliders gives me a little more confidence not having them. What tire and size are you running?
I wouldn’t follow in my footsteps 🤣🤣. I’ve ripped my sliders off (see my YT shorts) and caused a little body damage. Mine are very small 35s. With my pressures they’re essentially 33s. They’re a Canadian brand. I got them from a friend.
@@PowerWagonOkie ooh, just saw that. 😭😭😭
Rock sliders are pretty much a necessity with these trucks if you're going to be doing anything rougher than the line he took on little moab hill. But otherwise, the truck's size is about the only thing holding it back.
@@wilkingcpayeah basically that was the ONLY line I was able to get done which wouldn’t have destroyed the truck lol
you need the chassis unlimited front bumper.
Yeah that and some sliders lol
Is this a stock truck? I what one but its hard to find out true information on them especially being stock. So what ever information you can give me i would greatly appreciate it if thank you. Im shooting for mpg, payload capacity, towing capacity, off road capacity, cab space, ect. Thank you Im going to use it as a daily driver, a 3/4 ton truck for towing and hauling as well as for off road, i have a family of 5. Would this truck work for all that? Thanks
There’s actually quite a few videos that tell you all that info if you don’t skip through it just the years 2019 -2022 but there’s quite a few 2020 videos and there was a comparison between rebel 1500 and the power wagon . Just look
Also if your looking for it to be a family vehicle its fine if you don’t care about gas 😂 or making your truck the go to vehicle sure ( most people don’t ) . Id definitely have something good gas on the side (wife’s vehicle or a spare burner vehicle…If your city is mainly highway and non-light travels then of course you mpg will go up if you live in a light to light type of city then your milage will be atrocious. But you don’t go into a 2500 thinking about gas either
Off-roading with side steps was dumb in the first place. Need rock sliders.
Only dumb if you care 👍🏻👍🏻 it’s a toy, not a collector’s piece
Are you guys in 4hi or 4lo locked/unlocked going up the steep hill with the rocks
I honestly don’t remember, but I assume most were 4 low and unlocked.
Did I hear that driver call that a slider? 😂😂😂
That’s a badass truck dv
please keep posting! this is my dream truck and i hardly get to see it
Im with you I’m hoping to buy one towards end of 2024 I’m consistently looking for videos
At least your out There👊 still deciding between the Maple and the Knuckles…but tbh…I’m surprised at what those step slides held up to..sacrificial…but looks like the rocker fair’d well👍
Yeah there was a little damage on it. But it’s not noticeable unless you really look
I’ve been hitting up a lot of Power Wagon channels that actually use them to get out…I sure do want to drive my from AK to TX and time it when there’s a few full size rides of areas I’ve only seen on video and a map…and just meet some of the PW community. Great to find you and Cheers from Alaska AK49👊🇺🇸👊
Heck yeah, that would be an incredible trip! I want to take mine up to the Arctic Circle… funny we have similar trips in mind, just opposite directions 😂😂
@@PowerWagonOkie 😎😂 so True…Artic Circle😂😂 I had to do a Hot welding Job on a large River boat for some folks coming back from a Moose Expedition at the Bridge camp just pass the Yukon River a few weeks back. Took the PW from Kenai up the Dalton on the company dime(as support of course😜)Not sure HWY should be included at the end of that name..Dalton Road maybe😂😂😂I was 60 miles from the circle…had to turn back to make that $$ the next the day…can’t wait to return with time to explore and make that Mile marker…pretty cool…even cooler if we pass each other on an adventure at sometime👍
That was a blast!
Yes it was!!! Definitely a cool trail
Nice run, nice rig! 👍👍 Lake Havasu 🌞 Az
Seen MM do this many times...but there is something magical in this performance. Superb!
Never mistake a Step for SLIDER😂🤷♂️
Love that guitar. Been working on this edition of this track but the other live version. Y'all know it lol
And... that’s why I dropped 2K on white knuckle sliders for mine.
Yep!
@@1dumpedviper I actually hit a piece of rebar sticking out of the ground, passenger side, didn't see it, I turned, it slid down the slider, came off of it and smacked the bed, I stopped and looked, somehow no dent on the truck, tiny mark on the logo, can see a scratch down most of the slider. Definitely saved my paint. Lucky..
@@chadsisk1244 I've seen the abuse White Knuckles sliders can take, BOMBPROOF!
@@1dumpedviper thats dope to hear!! I deliver the steel to white knuckle where they fab them!
Same here man. That’s not slider in the video it’s a step.
Rock sliders aren't cheap but they're still less expensive than a trip to the body shop! Hopefully it wasn't too much damage!
Not too much, barely noticeable if you happen to look directly at it lol
have to expect those steps would be lost. easy replacement
Getting a power wagon, first thing it needs.
Top notch spotting!
Awesome video!! I truly do love Power Wagons but they are to heavy!! My 2nd gen Tacoma V8 SAS front&rear locked 6 spd manual can do all that then some and not get stuck
Oh I completely agree. But I can haul 6 people (which I need), I have a factory warranty, I can tow 10k lbs (legally), and I do it all while in great creature comforts!!! It works for me, and your Taco works for you! 🤣🤣💪🏻
@@PowerWagonOkie If I get a bigger truck it will be a Power Wagon!!
It was awesome hanging out with good friends and awesome trucks! Can’t wait for the next one!
Lol I see y'all rescue my friend that's new to overlanding his name is Mike Graves
Yeah he was in a very uncomfortable position 🤣🤣🤣🤣
"passenger, passenger, passenger" "CRUNCH" "alright back-up"
OUCH….😢
I just got my last month. So far I'm enjoying it in the winter. Be cool to find other power wagons in my area to do trips.
Your spotters are trash bro literally coulda said stop but they let u keep goin like wtf
Awesome video
Shit happens on new jeeps that have fake rails.
You pretty much have to have rock sliders if you're going to wheel these trucks. They're heavy and pricey, and you really only have 2 options, but they're a necessity if you want to keep your truck looking nice and want your doors to open and close normally.
Damn. Nice.
Nahhhh -- once you get some trail damage, you don't worry about it any more and can have fun. I like to take my new vehicles offroad and get some dings and dents right off the bat, so I don't even worry about offroading them after that.
Not sure what the spotters were looking at… 😮
Departure angle? We don’t NEED no steenking departure angle! 😂
Not bad! Damage is good! It justifies new better things. Do it at speed, so you can get some nice aftermarket bumpers! :) When I hit obstacles like this, I like to run it a few times in different configs. 2-wheel, 4 unlocked, 4-low just rear locked, 4hi all locked, sway on or off. So I can get a better feeling for each limits.
