Fordite, pretty cool, never heard of that before, loved the video.
William, you are a fabulous instructor. Thank you for this informative video. (enjoyed your humor, too)
Just like chocolate tempering, not as simple as it seems.
Подскажите, какая толщина металла, из которого изготавливаете безель?
I read somewhere that it is not necessary to use borax when soldering on coal, as coal when heated gives off carbon, which does not allow the metal to oxidize.
If your coal is getting that hot so that it gives off enough carbon to stop oxidation, your metals are already wayyyyyy melted.
How do you clean stones in a closed back bezel?
Dude… that vapor wave broach is such a cool piece!!!!!
Love these! Great info! ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
Nice content however, Rio does not allow beginners to purchase gold unless they have a business.
Hi Donna! Sorry for the delay in responding to your comment. You're correct, but you can access Rio Grade products through Metalwerx as a student! Anyone who takes a class with us (virtual or onsite) receives access to Rio Grande wholesale benefits through Metalwerx. You receive a link and a code when you take any class, along with other vendor deals.
@@metalwerxstudioare you no longer offering virtual classes?
Wow! Fantastic stuff. Was just getting into sand casting and now I’m scared of my scrap metal 😂 great info though! Thank you!!
Wonderfull job! I love it! You are a teacher of this job!😊❤
awesome video thanks! I'm going with the size 0 file, taking your advice!! I'll probably end up with all of them at some point!
Very helpful and thank you much
Ya got domthing stuck on your ear.
Totally the best, most interesting and entertaining studio tour I have ever seen! Well done and thank you Will!
👍👍
Great information.
Thank you !
I loved this video thank you, Michelle
Is the stone adhered to the bezel in anyway? Or is just a friction/tight fit?
I need to purchase some dividers. Which one do you use and do you have a source?
I learned so much from watching this that I can apply to my silver as well. Great tips on the clipboard and black paper too. Excellent! Thank you!❤
how to order
In the first video you said you used hard solder. But for the past couple of years after goldsmith…actually they should be called silver smooth courses…I land through watching a series of jewelry video like yours I learned I should only ever use use soft gold solder and medium silver solder if doing silver work. As the soft silver will run. But I Neil burn my bezels using anything other than soft sheet solder on my gold pieces. Is this why I am still ruining my gold bezels? Or need to fix and patch them?
Wow😊 great video ❤ I live I Duval Jax,Fl. And I’m going to find a class in this ! Wish me luck ….😊
Great video! This is very helpful. Once you place your stone into place at the end should you be pressing the gold edges down onto the cab?
I have the same question....
ur a riot, nice tour
such a good demo! thank you!!
where did you get the stones from?
I think the rivet work using cold connections is absolutely beautiful in that bracelet❤❤❤❤
Again, excellent video on a difficult topic. Your students are quite lucky to have such an instructor. Thanks again.
I am a novice and looking to expand my knowledge with experience and keep it affordable-which is not easy. I have watched some very good videos to prepare myself-and yours is maybe the most thorough and very best I have seen. I want to personally thank you. Good job!
😂
Great video, lots of great information. Thanks so much for sharing.
Sandpaper on a clipboard is genius
Great video, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for sharing! Impressive how you have found so many things and also the way you value the heritage pieces from your Grandfather and Great Grandfather.
WOW! Great video! So well done and informative. I thank you.
Nice model though I would route out the middle of the anvil leaving the top of the inside shank open to reduce weight and metal cost. This probably would require entering through the top of the ring and then installing a thin insert.
What a production!!! Great job.
I'm a silversmith of 45+ years experience and I still learned things from this video.
Fantastic and very comprehensive video. Thank you!
Absolutely great video.❤ Just one question … when you are working with a rectangular stone do you use “round wire” or “square wire” for the bearing/step?
Excellent video. I have always soldered bezel to plates by heating from below. I have had problems with solder climbing up the bezel when I heat from above. As far as placing solder chips on the outside , the one draw back is that the excess material becomes contaminated with solder and therefore cannot be remelted to make new stock. Finally, I used to sand my solder joints as I went as you recommend, however, others have pointed out that leaving surplus solder on bezels may prevent the flushing out of bezel seams during subsequent heatings. Now as long as they are accessible, I clean up my seams after final assembly.
Paula is on my list as one of the best jewelry instructors out there.
We totally agree! Such a great, patient, and thoughtful instructor!
Very cool I learned something new We love our rocks!!💜💙💚
The use of the divider to not waste bezel wire or time sanding is a game changer.
Very cool! Thanks
I love this organizer - 2962A8 - also on McMaster Carr
very cool!
