Traditional Chinese Medicine Meets Judaism
Traditional Chinese medicine meets Judaism - Reflections on the meaning of Fall
First of all I would like to wish a Gmar Hatimah Tovah to all of those observing Yom Kippur. This is an opportunity to think about the meaning of the fall according to Oriental wisdom, how it relates to the Jewish High Holidays and how we can all adapt, grow and stay healthy during the new season.
Traditional Chinese medicine carries the belief that we should move in the rhythm of the seasons to maintain health and wellbeing, that the secret of health is to adapt and be in sync with our environment. So, as the natural world is letting go of the old, making room for the new and starting to stock up for the wint...

    Can it be damaging to liver or kidneys?

    • @applepuncture2631
      @applepuncture2631 4 дня назад

      In general, this is a relatively harmonizing and gentle formula and should not be damaging to the liver or kidneys. However, it is very important to see a licensed acupuncturist or licensed herbalist before taking any medications, supplements, or formulas. Your acupuncturist can decide whether you would benefit from a formula and which formula. Furthermore, your acupuncturist will be able to order herbs from a reputable, safe company.

    Kristen, thank you. Been taking it for a few weeks now and feel great, I'm even losing weight. For how long can it be taken continuously? Does there come a point where taking a break is advisable?

    • @applepuncture2631
      @applepuncture2631 7 месяцев назад

      Hi! I would recommend taking it for up to 4 months and then taking a break for 2-3 weeks to see how your body does. Our goal is to rebalance the body so that we no longer need to take supplements or herbs. Then you'll be able to take it again should you have a flareup. If you are menstruating, you can also eventually take it starting around day 12 of your cycle preventatively and then stop when you get your period. Then repeat each month. But I would start with 3-4 months of continuously taking it.

      Thanks. What about herbs like Reishi mushroom, Cordyceps, Goji berries etc. Can they be taken the rest of my life while taking breaks from time to time? Would you recommend this as a good practice?@@applepuncture2631

    What is the difference between xiao yao wan and san ? Which is better for overthinking, aggression, dreaming, social anxiety, depression (abit of all these things). I got recommended xiao yao wan. Thank you

    • @applepuncture2631
      @applepuncture2631 8 месяцев назад

      Thank you for your great question. Xiao Yao San and Xiao Yao Wan are the same. But the "san" and "wan" indicate the preparation/form the formula comes in. "San" is generally the powdered/granule form of the formula. "Wan" traditionally is pills made from the powder, usually as capsules or teapills.

    • @applepuncture2631
      @applepuncture2631 9 месяцев назад

      You can definitely use it to assist with that transition. But we would not recommend doing the weaning on your own. It’s important to discuss this with your doctor and follow a safe plan for weaning off of an SSRI. Acupuncture is even more helpful in that process of weaning. Ideally, you’d do acupuncture weekly for 6-10 weeks.

    Can men benefit from this as well for male fertility?

    • @applepuncture2631
      @applepuncture2631 9 месяцев назад

      Yes, this could benefit a male. However, it’s important to get an assessment to determine which herbal formula is relevant to your body. There are subtleties between the formulas. We wouldn’t want you to arbitrarily take something. There are various formulas that are relevant to fertility issues. The best thing you can do is see an acupuncturist or an herbalist to get an in person evaluation. That way they can create a customized formula. That will be right for you.

      I apologize for the delay in my response. Somehow I am missing these comments. It’s important to see a practitioner to get legitimate herbs from them. They can order them from reputable websites that only practitioners can order from. If you order from just any website, you can’t be certain you’re getting a good formula.

    How often should I take this? My asian grandmother explained to the herbal doctor my situation so they gave her two bottles of this, 100 capsules 500mg each. I have chronic stress and anxiety and only sleep a few hours a night. Please let me know, I want to be my normal self again.

    • @applepuncture2631
      @applepuncture2631 Год назад

      Hi there! Thank you for your inquiry. You can start by taking a daily dose of 2 capsules in the morning and 2 capsules in the evening. You do not need to take with food. Try to be consistent in taking every day, but it's not a big deal if you take it at different times each day. Give this about 2 weeks. If you aren't seeing any change, you can take 3 morning and 3 evening. If you don't see any change, I recommend that you have a consult with a licensed acupuncturist to assess whether there is another formula or treatment option that might be more appropriate. I'm so sorry you are struggling with anxiety and insomnia-- that is very hard. Please don't hesitate to email me at info@applepuncture.com if you have any questions are need a referral to someone in you local area.

    • @applepuncture2631
      @applepuncture2631 Год назад

      So sorry for the delayed reply! I did not receive an alert. We do not recommend taking this formula during pregnancy, even though it is a safe and harmonizing formula in general. If you are struggling with newer symptoms during pregnancy or more pronounced symptoms related to hormones, it's important to see an acupuncturist to assess what is appropriate at this time.

    • @applepuncture2631
      @applepuncture2631 Год назад

      Wow- somehow I missed this comment, so my reply is much-delayed. I apologize for that! It's the same as the Xiao Yao San, except it also addresses heat in the body. If you notice that your tongue is red at the tip and sides, the Jia Wei Xiao Yao San might be more appropriate for you. If not, it might be best to stick with the Xiao Yao San. Ideally, you should see an acupuncturist for an assessment prior to taking herbs. But this formula is fairly gentle and harmonizing.

It's best to go to a Chinatown herbal shop if you have one or to get a consult with an acupuncturist. You don't want to play guessing games with these formulas because they could make you worse

      I am so sorry that I am just seeing this comment, and was not able to reply so much sooner. We do offer video/telehealth. However, we would very much recommend that you see someone in person and try out acupuncture for regulating your nervous system. Acupuncture is the deepest way of treating the symptoms you are describing in this message. But you’ll want to be seen in person so that you can have a proper assessment by an acupuncturist.
