Yes, Evan Call is known for film-scoring on TV anime (making music AFTER seeing the storyboards and the dialogue, or even the finished product). He confirmed he did it on a number of scenes for Frieren (more specifically, the first 4 episodes entirely since it was in movie form, the last scene of episode 8, and the climax of episode 21 were CONFIRMED to be film-scored and I’m sure there are also a few more). Considering we’re talking about a much healthier and less rushed project in Violet Evergarden, with such attention to detail in every department, I don’t think it would be unusual to find out that this anime has film-scoring across multiple episodes.

@24:22, there's an interview with Evan Call (the composer of Violet Evergarden - and also Freiren) about his experience uploaded here on RUclips. He described it as being a "menu" that he gets from the sound director about what they want and he has to interpret it from there. So, for example, it'll be like "Everday life 1" or "Battle 1." However, for Violet Evergarden, he got things like "Existence as Existence" and other abstract topics, which caused for him to look a bit deeper into the meaning of the work he had to do. If you'd like to see that video, it's called "Interview With Anime Composer Evan Call" and is just over 8 minutes long.

Unfortunately the implication here is that the daughter also died, which is why during the hug scene Aira says "take *them* to a kinder world" It's horrible to think about what might have happened to her before her death, but at least both her and her mom will be resting in peace

Violet Evergarden is a really beautifully made anime, but I think the aesthetics and style are really all it has. There's nothing really original going on, and most episodes are basically just charcoil copies of themselves. I'm not saying it's not a good show, but for me, it just felt hollow as there are so many anime series with great plots and characters.

I think Yor's family comes from a region of Ostania that is inspired by Yugoslavic/Hungarian culture. Since Ostania is generelly inspired by the East Block during the cold war, and the "southern" stew, paprika and sour cream. Paprika is used a lot in Hungary and the Balkans and sour cream in soups is common in slavic cuisine.

Ukitake at this point... is just a remnant/husk. Mimihagi is connected to Yhwach cause he absorbed it and Mimihagi is also connected to Ukitake. He's like the stick of a lolipop that is just hanging out.

Gremmy the imagination guy's limit was shown in the anime. He turned Yachiru's bones into cookies but when he got too involved in fighting Kenpachi, he forgot about Yachiru, and so her bones turned back to normal. Gremmy could keep thinking he is OP and he literally did like two separate times but Kenpachi made him feel what it feels like to live on the edge. A feeling he never experienced before. Kenpachi literally took him through a rollercoaster of emotions. Excitement, Fear, Doubt, Terror. His thought of "I am OP" was lost in all that. Then he imagined Kenpachi as an insurmountable monster and the second he thought that he killed himself.
