Treadbics* is treadmill aerobics.
Treadbics is better on your knees than running, it builds agility, increases your balance, it burns more calories than just running, a lot more fun than running on a treadmill, and it's simply an amazing cardio workout. These videos are examples of Treadbics.
If you want to try Treadbics, focus first on going forward.
Here are the basics: (1) Start slow (e.g. below 2 mph); (2) get comfortable with the aerobic double-hop; (3) use music to keep your rhythm (128 bpm); (4) get comfortable NOT holding onto the rails; (5) increase speed as you improve (topping out around 4 mph).
After you have mastered going forward, you will be ready to start going backwards. Repeat the five steps all over again, but this time going backwards. You'll find yourself easily doing the transitions from forwards to backwards.
*Do not attempt Treadbics if you have balance issues or suffer from dizzy spells. It's not for everyone.

This routine is a bit fast (perhaps 132 bpm). I finally figured out how to do complete rotations (360 degrees) pivoting on one foot.

Treadmill aerobic routine, great for agility and balance. It is less damaging to your knees than running, and also makes the treadmill experience more fun. I have taught others, even those who had concluded it would never be possible.
