The Package
My first (and probably last) short film! So blessed to have such amazing and talented friends around me to help the project to the finish line. Shot in Singapore, Los Angeles, Kuala Lumpur, and Tokyo, mostly in late 2022 and one day in August 2023. This project started on a whim as an idea and continued to grow over time, which didn't help the story but again - I'm so blessed to have amazing friends to get it all put together in the end. I can't thank each and every one of you enough.

Zeiss Nano Prime (Compared to Supreme Prime) - Shot on Sony Burano
Просмотров 4312 месяца назад
Thank you Zeiss for letting me test out the Nano Primes to consider (and Cathay Photo for the Burano). I did various tests to see how I feel about them, but alongside, did this fun little test (this video) vs my Supremes. It was completely unplanned and last minute, and done very casually - small changes in lighting due to uncontrolled natural light from windows, focused by hand, cheap tripod, ...

0:04 Notice the chromatic aberration in the highlights around the leaves(first image), huge difference between the Vespid and CP3.
Which color u use? Silver?amber? Or blue nanomorph?
Wow. That was a RIDE 😜
Thanks haha 🤣
Finally! That drone chase scene is insane!
Both drone guys killed it!! Thanks man
yeahhhh buddy! Great work! Stoked to finally see the final result of all those countless hours of production. Hana Hou!
thanks man!!! hopefully we can do something together (finally) soon!
@@TheLostKuma let’s do it 🫶🏼
great work
thank you, had a great team of amazing friends.!
🔥🔥🔥
you killed it on the visuals!!!
@@TheLostKumawe made it! Good team work and a lot of passion :)
Amazing FPV chase sequence 🔥
Mike & How were absolutely awesome on all the FPV scenes
How do you feel about this camera compared to Komodo or Komodo X?
Looks like it has a gel-like screen. Will it be compressed by the water pressure when you dive to some depth?
Yes, correct - as expected it compresses down a bit the deeper I go, but it still maintains its properties surprisingly well (still feels gel like) and haven't noticed any functional difference whether at 1 meter or 35.
@@TheLostKuma I see. And turns out it has a pressure balancer in its handle (I read it somewhere). Maybe it is like a compressible compartment. Meaning when the environment pressure rise, the pressure inside the casing also rise against the inward force, so the screen and the phone will not heavily compressed. Clever engineering.
Kolari filters works on canon adapters? I was thinking of getting the fixed nds from kolari as a best option than variable
hey! this was from quite a while ago and unfortunately dont have any canon adapters anymore so can't test this :(
Supreme focus breathing
Do the SP3 compatible with Autofocus?
you'd have to use an autofocus system like lidar
🎉
Thank you !
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
thank you !
Very cool! We are building almost the same system with the fx30 right now. Make sure you share some of your footage :) Have fun!
Will def do! I'm only just starting out in uw video - have posted something already but hopefully get better over time.
Clean!! Do you run to issues with the poco if there's a cage on your lumix?
Hey sorry unfortunately the camera was loaned to me by a friend to try (without a cage) so won’t be able to answer that :(
I dont think theres a cage that would get in the way. Rigged up its a little cramped but no issues yet
I want that lens!
its a stunner! <3
What is a lens like that even used for?
Cinema
basically for production use, where smaller lenses or small camera like this one aren't sensible. narratives, commercials, and some music video type stuff if it fits hte look desired...
Life in Singapore...... welcome to the bubble of beautiful nothingness....
If you could only choose 2 Cooke sp3 lenses which 2 focal lengths would you choose?
tbhonest i wouldn't choose the sp3's at all to begin with. but that's just my personal preference!
@@TheLostKuma would love to hear more as to why not!
Music???
ah sorry cannot remember anymore.... (this was originally posted a long time ago on IG)
which one is sharper??
Hey sorry, sharpness is one of the things i never specifically test for so I can't really comment. They're all certainly sharp enough for my needs, but obviously everyone's needs vary
I have a question: I record lengthy nature scenes (birds, squirrels etc) and need a camera that will record continuously for several hours. I currently use the Sony A6400 which will record for 10 hours straight on a 256GB Card and on A/C power. I would prefer to use my Fujifilm XT2 with unlimited A/C power via the battery grip, as it’s got much better quality but the video time limits make it impractical to press record every 30 minutes. I’ve heard that the XT5 has no video recording time limits (until battery exhausts or memory card fills up) but has no power grip to plug in a/c power. Can the xt5 connect to A/C power, enabling several continuous hours of recording footage? If not, can you recommend a camera (preferably from the fujifilm family) that can? Thank you.
Hey sorry I wish i can help respond to this but i'm not entirely sure on this. I also never trust makers' specs so would prefer to find real-world usage tests/experiences as well. Maybe try messaging some concert/event type shooters on IG that use fujifilm!
@@TheLostKuma ok, thank you for responding. Have a good day
Checking this out 2 years later. Incredible images! I have my KX rigged out most of the time...but the main reason I got this camera was for the portability. This looks like the perfect documentary lens for traveling with the fam and still being able to capture incredible images. Thanks for always providing resources like this.
Thanks for the comment! I generally just try to post footage, even if i'm just shooting random things without much intent. Plenty of others happy to spend 10 minutes and 8 seconds talking about gear without using it much.... makes me very happy when others find anything I post even remotely useful. Thank you again!
oh- and same for me! for production use obviously its getting rigged up but for personal use i really like to strip it down and go easy/casual for fun. its very liberating :)
@@TheLostKuma absolutely! There's not much out there on this lens for the Komodo specifically, so literally anything is helpful, lol. I saw some of your posts in the FB group so I had to come here and find more. Glad I did! 😎
You can hear the quality of this rig 😁👍
yessss. thanks =P its a good rig haha
Hi have a nice day; beautifull footage; do know about the xp image adapter? It’s bad compared with kipon?
Hey sorry, haven't heard of the xp adapter before
Thank you 🙂 Hard to see with the compression, but I think I like both Zeiss. I was in their demo center in Burbank (LA technically) and they first of all were super nice when I said I'm a student(Cooke never returned my email) and I was really impressed by the CP.3, they have such nice build quality, and being about 20% of the Supreme prime they look very nice(Of course everything I think will look nice on Alexa LF like was there tough).
Yeah, the compression makes it really tough. For me the chromatic aberration on the cp3's are a buzzkill because I really like the design and lightweight/size of the cp3's... considerably worse CA than i've seen on just about any other lenses sadly. but otherwise do love them. While its nice if brands are a bit more engaging or responsive, I wouldn't read too much into it, in reality none of them REALLY care, they're all out there to make money. What's important is getting the image we want for the project we're on!
What is your favorite good cinema lens that's expensive let's say but not ARRI or Zeiss supreme level? Let's say something around the CP.3 (maybe Tokina Vista? but they're huge)@@TheLostKuma
@@ronbackal hey that's a really tough question. for me i'll always choose things with character (like rehoused vintage) vs something modern and clean becuase the benefits are so marginal esp when on lower budgets and not with larger crew).
I mean I only have Sony 50mm f1.2 and FX3, but I was toying with the idea of renting and considering more expensive lenses . Than, I’m not sure that for what I’m going to do- to shoot alone and edit my own footage- that it will be so important, versus maybe buying a Sony Burano which is a much better cinema camera
@@ronbackalonly my personal opinoin but i'm SUPER meh about the burano tbhonest. Personally i think teh a7s4 gen cameras (given it's coming later this year unless schedule changes) will be a much better investment when the updated fx3/6 on that tech comes.
I’d like to see some footage
These are some dope Nikon shots!
😂😂😂😂🙏
Did you use ND Filter? If yes, which one?
Oh man I’m pretty sure we did but can’t remember anymore what we would have used, sorry!
Love it, especially part 2 at the wreck! Great edit! :D
thank you! all cus i had a great video instructor :)
Incredible footage!! 👍👍
Thanks man! You’re all too kind 🙏
should I buy this camera for a cinematic filmlike video/photos, or go with the sony fx3?
hard to go wrong with either, or any modern camera these days!
@@TheLostKuma After doing more research I think the x-t5 is the move because it also takes amazing pictures, especially with the "FujiFilm" look. By the way, can I use any lense for the x-t5?
@@Migi-eg2nm you'd have to use native fuji lenses, or adapt EF/PL/LPL/M glass! (or other dslr mounts)
@@TheLostKuma thank you!
Awesome edit man 😁
Had an awesome teacher :)
'Promosm'
haha what does that mean?
I’m debating between this and the 15mm lol already have the fine 9mm version for my fpv drone paired with Komodo
maybe the 15mm then. it'll be less prone to CA and also more future proof across sensor sizes
Seriously? 😮 I'd already chosen the FX3 over the BM but now im absolutely sure.
its a easy fix in resolve to eliminate RS completely though for the blackmagic's
@@TheLostKuma Hmmm today I learned. Is the FX3 doing similar processing in camera? Why do some camera have worse rolling shutter than others? Is it a hardware feature or how the camera's software processes the footage?
@@zbytpewny its a function of a few things- the sensor's readout speed, camera's processor's ability to process it, etc. the a7s3/fx3/zve1/fx6 sensor is fast readout becuase its a fast readout sensor but also it's very low resolution, less data to have to read out so it can read it out faster.
@@TheLostKuma thanks for the info, I may still go for the FX3 due to the lowlight performance mostly, but you have got me thinking again.
@@zbytpewnyi will say though, i find 12800 incredibly overrated and grainy. its not really native in feeling, and i guess why they dont officially say its dual base iso
Nice :)
thanks daeil =P
Beautiful…. 🔥🔥🔥
thanks se =P !
Why do i like the Komodo over X, though i like the colours of X. 😭
its always fair to have personal preferences for any or no reason!
@@TheLostKuma Yes.
Which camera that one
BMCC full frame!
@@TheLostKuma thank you
Lovely work!
Thank you 🙌🙌
In your opinion, Leica R w/ Cine-Mod or SP3?
i think for personal use modded leica r is a great choice, but i'm extremely anti-modded lenses for all other use case scenarios when possible
❤
Thanks 🙌🙌👍
I thought SP3s were adorable.
thanks :)
I had no idea you could build boosters into a rehoused. Wow. Looks sweet!
They’re awesome! I keep a set of modded only as well I used with Kipon boosters. Love Mamiya!
Yeah, the Panchros are definitely miles above the SP3s in terms of everything, flares and bokeh are way more pleasing to my taste
There really is no comparison. They're just very different lenses, but then again, same can be said about the price!
Nice test! Real Panchros are much better in every way; especially the flares, color, and contrast. I don't understand how people can claim SP3 are 95 percent there. Not even close. SP3 are made in China and are a cash grab by Cooke. I understand why they did it tho given the current market demands
In all honesty its almost as if cooke was quietly bought out by a private equity shop and forced to make the sp3's in china as a cash grab to capitalize on the cooke name, and sacrifice a bit of legacy. that's what my hedge fund manager brain/background tells me. they did do a good job on creating a set of cheaper lenses, but i wouldn't use them as a b-set on a panchro shoot. but that's just me. Nothing wrong w/ the SP3's though, but felt marketing it as a small panchro was a bit of a stretch and missing out on LPL was a big mistake.
Lovely looking lenses!
thanks man =P
