Добавлен 16 июл 2019
In the summer of 2019 we decided to purchase a small slice of the American Pie in hopes of leaving the "real world" behind and live the dream of independence. We decided to become Modern Homesteaders. Our first crop was hops and the second pumpkins. Where the future will lead us is anyones guess. Follow us on our journey, through our trials and tribulations, success and failures and all of the learning we have left to do.

chainsaw SAFETY check
Просмотров 1244 года назад
Chainsaw safety features you MUST make sure are working before using it. It is getting close to the time of year where families are revving up their chainsaws to cut down a Christmas tree and firewood, so I made this short video pointing out the safety features you need to make sure are in working order before using your chainsaw.
Echo Chainsaw CS-352... can it handle the job?
Просмотров 33 тыс.5 лет назад
Today we're testing the Echo CS-352 chainsaw, can It handle the job? We pushed the Echo to the limit. It's a great chainsaw for limbing and cutting small diameter logs, but it struggles when it comes to thicker cuts. Watch the entire video to see how it performs!

Cold Start: John Deere 3039R. ROUGH!
I bought one a couple of years ago and it's fantastic. My only criticism is a tank of fuel doesn't last long unlike my Stihl MS200T (35cc) which goes for ages between fills.
For rounds like that I have a sledge and wedge. Easier
Thanks. - was thinking of getting this for tree that fell today.. No way... thanks a bunch..
This seems like a more honest test of a Fiskars. Lots people testing them on pretty easy logs. But I get a lot of rounds like those, but often american elm, with lots of cross fibers. I'd expect the Fiskars to just bounce right off. I hit it a few times with a regular maul to make some bite marks, then pull out my splitting wedges and either the back of the maul or a separate sledge. Even then I end up putting ten or so wacks per wedge to drive them through. Hard to imagine a Fiskars working well for that.
This girl actually knows what that tool is for.
Well I don't know if most people know this but always replace the chain blade with a name brand like Oregon when buying a new echo chainsaw. Echo puts the cheapest blades they can legally install and believe me I've seen stupid people go out and buy an echo then complain it doesn't cut well. Slap a good chain on and that chainsaw will cut like a hot butter knife through butter.

I’ve got a bunch of 36” to 44” rounds to split. Super fun!!
Take a hatchet or axe ,start from the outside edge and use a small sledge or hammer and hit the axe head over and over. It will drive in and split the wood across. Makes short work of it. Be safe and enjoy.
You just made a great case for owning a wood splitter. lol
I heard from expert that 100 longbound The Maul would work better.
Nice,, bet if you turned it knot down she wouldn't have taken as many shots to split ER
Geeeeze that's a tough piece of wood, I just bought the same axe for splitting, thankfully I don't have anything like that in Indiana. Hopefully pick up a tasmanian axe next month for a comparison and well 2 axes are better than 1
Magarac, vidis da ti je Tupac motorca
Reminds me of my childhood.
Glad to see a female using the power tools! I’m going to learn. Just worried about my back and arms getting tired.
Which fuel ratio did you use in the saw?
Now do it with a real piece of wood. ie; oak or locust or something other than pine... I k ow. Doug fir. Not pine right... nope, its pine
Good stuff brother. I Love my X27.
I think you're pushing the limits of that little 34cc. Im surprised it even cut as much and as big of wood as it did! I have the 4910, broken in and muffler modded, carb retune, and oh boy does she sing the birds to sleep!
Who needs a log cart when you have a log carrier that looks like that? It must bring an added pleasure to a day cuttng wood 👍🏻
You wasted more energy and time splitting that round down the center than if you would just chip a piece of the side over n over again...the more pieces you chip off the easier it gets....but its not hard to chip away at a round....and its alot easier to beat a small amout of grain than 2 feet of it.....im Dead serious
Yessir !!
For a long handle you're pretty accurate..I wouldn't go in right in top of a knot though.
START FROM THE EDGE.
What's with all that noise?? "Aaah" after each hit??
Sir, your aim is on point! Good honest hard-work to keep your family warm. Nicely done. When I’m working a tough one, I approach it like eating an elephant- one bite at a time. So I work with the grain starting on the outside taking off a few inches then work my way around the round. Usually saving the knots for last.
силен мужик) деревяха красиво развалилась, лайк за труд)
you say it was sharp lack of huge chips proves otherwise your cutting pine should have been ribbons coming out , i use my saws to cut oak and hickory and way bigger chips than your showing if the chips dont hurt its not sharp
who cares about the saw the view was fuckin sweet
*This is a great sawSnapper It's powerful,🌼 **allabout.wiki/Wolf** easy to use, and has a lot of great features that make it safer for a homeowner to use, such as the compression release, chain brake, and choke that sets the throttle to idle up when starting. The chain is easy to adjust. The engine has a lot of horsepower and torque for cutting big sections of wood quickly. You cannot bog this saw down unless it gets pinched. But that's true of nearly every saw.*
I bought one (CS352) cut up one tree and had to have the carb overhauled. The air filter does not filter as it should carb got full of dust.I have a cs400 that works great. The CS352 spends more time in the shop than on the job.
having the sam chainsaw for two years, never had any problem...
I've had my CS352 for 7 years without an issue. It's used often.
It's a trim saw not a firewood saw
The bar barley was long enough to go through the big log. I say you needed at least an 18 inch and the next echo up! When your maxing out a small trim saw stop and re sharpen the blade and make sure it’s a full chisel chain and fill up the oil often. Great video!! Thank you..
This model is echos cheapest model mostly residential, it's not meant for tree services or logging companies. Yes you can put up to a 24 inch bar on this model but I recommend no bigger than 20 inch because it's not a high cc engine and the torque isn't that good for heavy cutting. Likely it'll start jamming on anything over 18 inches. Lite duty work is plenty for this model or cutting fire wood size cuts. I just didn't see paying $400.00 for the bigger more commercial model like the 590 Timberwolf since I don't use a chainsaw that often other than hunting firewood for my smoker and fire pit.
Knots are a bitch
Running wayyyy to fat on the top end. Need to lean it out some I always remove the factory limiting sleeves on the carb jets I have a cs310. A cs400 and a cs500p Every one of them have sleeves removed and modded mufflers
How do you mod the mufflers? I just bought one and apparently the air filtration system is faulty. Will address that soon as well as other mods. Does the factory limiting sleeves limit the throttle opening or fuel mixture adjustments? Thanks
@@kzoomin Remove the muffler. And the exhaust outlet (the little diffuser that is held on by 2 screws) cut those fins out. And on the back side of the muffler Echo has a plate that cuts off 1/2 of the exhaust Hollow that out. And take a 1/2” or so drill bit and drill down thru it to the outlet And the limiting sleeves is for the high and low jet. The throttle is just a screw that pushes a butterfly flap open After modding the muffler you will have to adjust the jets Depending on where you live (air temp air density ect) all change the amount of fuel required Only turn that high jet IN about 1/8th turn at a time When your cutting a log lift the saw up slightly and it should 4 stroke or “burble” instantly if it doesnt its running too lean
@@ericsalyer2869 got it, thanks for taking the time to explain. Appreciate it!
your axe is too light for that. need more weight on it's head.
Look like at the beginning you work against the grind of the log need to work with grind of the log not against it and put knot at the bottom i splitted a 4ft tall 25inch round log with a knot in it took a min but got it done
Some call it accuracy... naw that's skill to me right there nice vid my friend
It’s not for such a big tree I have it 7 years great saw but for smaller trees logs 🪵 etch buy a Timberwolf
Get a CS-590 Timberwolf and stop screwing around.
I think it did a good job considering the diameter of the tree you were cutting. The diameter looked about a 5 gallon bucket or slightly bigger. I'd use the 40 or 50cc saw for trees that size & a quicker cut. The 352 43cc for large coffee/paint can size wood works great for my needs. I'm new to chainsaws and only use them for a few months. I only use methanol free fuel as well. Curious what applications other folks are using. I only use the saw at 1.5k-2.5k elevation as well. Thanks for sharing the video.
It’s amazing how Americans measure with anything other than the “proper” units. It’s about two bananas wide. Or about as big as a South Carolina gambo soup bowl. Hehehe.
Whatever brand you like but a bigger saw is in your future.
In my honest opinion you could use a 2 wheel cart to shuttle those big logs. Everybody telling you adj carb.. adj chainsaw to 50cc! 490 are great pro saws at bargain price. The 590 if you can handle the extra weight.
What elevation are you cutting at? That could be why your saw sounds so rich
I’m guessing somewhere around 3,500-4K feet
You could be right, didn’t think of that
That’s pretty much what every straight grain red gum splits like... It’s super annoying. But a great workout! I like your precision. The strikes are so nice and close together
Yes this round was super green, I knew it wouldn’t be easy. Yes I agree, a total workout, kinda what I was looking for. Thank you! I’ve been doing plenty of practicing
Ну во ... мужик просто не стал выпендриваться! Где же это видео было раньше! Не за что бы не стал покупать это говно!!
благодарю вас
I bought a Echo CS-352 last weekend. It's like a knife through butter so far I really like it. The Stihl MS-170 was on sale for $159 but I rolled the dice and got the Echo at $259. After purchasing I wasn't sure if I made the right decision but many arborists claim the Echo is the better home owner saw vs the entry level Stihl so I opened the box and used it. Time will tell but how good it really is but so far I'm pleased.
Glad you’re happy with it! It was our first chainsaw too. It’s great for around the house and small jobs. We just got a STIHL 311 for firewood cutting, we’ll review that one this year. Thanks for the comment!
Whichever of these 2 products you choose is the same good choice ,, I have had the stihl ms 170 for many years and I cut tons of wood without any problems !!! and the echo is an excellent choice !!
Thx for this
You got it 🤝
