Part 1 of 3 This was shown in the late 1980's, a programme called "Star Test" where each week a different Celebrity would be asked questions by a computer. This was the best one featuring Stephen Fry, it was originally televised on Friday early Evenings, and then repeated in the early hours of Saturday morning, this is the night time version.

Doesn't he look young? Makes me feel old lol! He was much funnier back then
My mum jiving at rock n roll club x
I used to stand and watch the papers come of the line on that corner during my dinner break. My Saturday job was a lift boy in the Co op. I spent one Saturday afternoon stuck on the top floor until an engineer came from Bradford and managed to get me out. It was a bit of an hair raising experience. Life seemed less complicated back then.
That housing official woman arguing that cockroaches are not a "reason" to transfer a mother and kids from a house, seriously hope she now regrets her awful attitude captured for posterity on film. "Come back on Wednesday and tell me how it is" like its cockroaches love and pesticides which those kids were exposed to. Awful Dickensian patronising and at least these days we recognise that mould can kill a child.
what’s a halifax bus doing running a route in huddersfield
Dennis was a brave man taking on all those kids. Hope he didn’t live to regret it.
Chips, egg and sausage. Put meat on yer bones.
Intelligent, but gets flustered and misses the point on some issues.
What a shit hole our towns become
Born in Huddersfield in 1970 and so glad i dont reside in the dog-hole anymore, we visited a few month back and immediately had to shower s soon as i got home to clean away the smell of the place 🤮
Great to watch, seems a lifetime ago now !! Remember doing the fun run 😁👍
COR.ONCE WON THE LEAGUE TITLE THREE TIMES IN A ROW!1920S.HERBERT CHAPMAN? LATER ARSENAL?1930S? FRANK WORTHINGTON NO LESS DOWN THERE!1979-80? RESURGENCE? RINGS A VAGUE BELL.ALONG WITH GRIMBSY? AND ROTHERHAM( UNDER EMELYN HUGHES?) OR WOLVES? STRUGGLED AFTER THAT?
1985-6 CAME BACK TO BEAT MILLWALL 4-3? OPENING DAY? MAN.THAT WAS JUST A FANTASTIC DAY THAT! MILLWALL 2-0 UP AT LEEDS ROAD?WHAT A GAME!
Lockwood family, my brother babysat for them, loved growing up on that estate, good old days
How times have changed when he was talking about the 100% death rate for aids .
my absolute hero
I ADORE Stephen Fry! He reminds me of a bit of a modern day Oscar Wilde, which is something he likely tries hard to embody! :)
Wow Kevin kerry I remember him so well .lived in Deighton for 31 year and live across from kev on riddings road and remember this being filmed
35% rate rise - Pandoor would be in extasy!
Those were indeed the days. Great manager in Mike Buxton. Great victories with fantastic attacking football. Unbeaten for a whole season of 23 league games in the old Third Division. Two promotions and then the board of directors do the usual dirty trick and sack Mick. What happened? We went down the next full season conceding a century of goals.
My mum rock n rolling at the friendly and trades ❤️❤️❤️
The rock and roll night looked a brilliant night out. She's a cracking dancer
great days with great fans
The good olden days..... Before political correctness and racist BS.
2:40 Any ideas who Stephen is talking about?
Probably someone that's not a celebrity, might be an academic or something like that.
The black guys garden is a thing of the past but he looked after it so well . People these days 👳 just concrete and pebbles .
That rock 'n" roll evening looked a blast . . 👳 Sick times
This is nonsense the place was not perfect but it was all right beter than they show.
Going to league 1 now☹️
Hello
Hi
Fantastic video, better days for sure. I did a few of the Fun Runs, never did particularly well as I was always "fragile" from the night before.
Brilliant piece of film. What about that plonker who exited the car while it was still moving? (no I don't mean Fergie). Wetherspoons in Brighouse (formerly Bethel Street Methodist) ooooh, I'd LOVE a nice pint or two of Real Ale in there (if it's ever allowed to re-open) and finally....what about the photographer up Emley Moor mast? I was terrified for him!
Priceless ! Huddersfield has "fallen off a cliff" in recent years....but it's still "my town" and I love it (compared to the surrounding dross).
7 minutes , you dirty rotten bastards , I guess you are here looking and still laughing .
My school mate Tommy Reid lived up there , last time I saw him was mid 80s .
He's still up here
@@courtneyHorner-kf7es How is he doing ?
wow they both where good mates of mine , kevin hung himself , and leon was doing a long stretch in jail ,wow glad i got out of there and dun sumthink good with my life .
I'm sure I met the big guy with red hair and beard a couple of times when he worked as a doorman for a club underneath The Dog and Gun in Huddersfield . One night we had a quite a long chat ( as there was never any trouble there ) and I found him to be a very likeable, pleasant and honest guy . Thirty five years later I wonder how he is and I sincerely hope life is good for him .
@G Fantastic Thank you for letting me know about him . If you happen to be in contact , please just let him know someone was asking about him and sends best wishes . Cheers , Mark .
Cant believe she talks about being on game
Mick Buxton and Dave Cowling wing God. Great teams happy memories.
Wow. What an amazing documentary. I grew up in Huddersfield. This is an accurate portrayal of life there, for so many people. My Mum would have gone spare if i'd have gone up to this estate. Where i grew up was marginally less rough. We got robbed every other month. We had bugger all worth nicking. I escaped. Not many people i grew up with did.
Good game
That noise at the mill fire was creepy as hell !!!
Was there too 😁
I love it when he goes into talking about himself in the third person
I knew of David Cowling at Wilby Carr Secondary School, as we were in the same class. We all knew at school he was an excellent footballer, but he was also an intelligent man in the higher end of the School. Not surprised he would have a career in football. I believe he married his school teenage sweetheart. Also a nice decent man. I believe he could have played for Division 1, Manchester United/City? He also started one of the first football academies in the UK, not just for football, but education too. I am sure his teachers would have said "Well Done". Pleased for him, but wish he could have played for one of the Manchester clubs in his heyday. (Do you remember me ... MO?)
The chip pan, brings back memories :D. The black bits in the lard from burnt bits, always loved it when the fat was changed (like once a year lol) and you got decent golden chips :D. Not sure what area this was filmed, another part suggests Deighton?
Brackenhall, although could also be riddings and sheepridge area
Makes you proud to be British!
English is better
lets face it. Huddersfield hasn't exactly thrived has it.
I recall playing with friends who are white in Greenhead Park as a young child in the 1970's and the examiner photographer requested my removal from the photo. This photo is now displayed in Greenhead Park.
Oh dear. Where is it
I guess there were no ethic minorities that enriched Huddersfield during this period.
Interesting to see the bias reporting. Aren't there any ethnic minorities living within Huddersfield during this period.
