45:20 hit hard, hope you or your friends haven’t had any more bad experiences. So sad in general that it still happens, but in a family of people that you think of as a genuine community, like you say, it’s so important to feel safe. Some punk rockers have definitely done bad things, as we learnt with Scott, but I think a lot of that stuff genuinely comes from outsiders. Had a problem in the city recently at a local venue, where some fuckers were waiting in the toilets to inject people with shit, never actually going into the gig if I understood correctly. Scary stuff. Great interview, that part just resonated with me recently cuz you still hear a lot about it unfortunately.
That is what I love about Rancid, they stay out of politics. I do not like Trump but Jesse is missing so much about how the left side of the aisle works.
I met Brad many years ago when FMinus played a tiny show in the UK,a wonderful human being and still one of the greatest gigs I've ever attended and one I still think about today probably 25 years later
FU
So Great !! Thanks.. I flew to Portland Or. to watch them play.. Met up with a bunch of close old friends I grew up with.. Was AMAZING to finally see them live after all these years and yes I almost cried.. 😁
That's so funny hearing him talking about trap music 😂 Totally didn't see that coming, but it's super cool. I can totally relate.
👍
This guy is such a talented musician. Can’t believe he didn’t become huge like Rancid. I thoughts it’s because he didn’t want it but I don’t know. Seems like he has some regrets.
I kinda got the impression years ago, like he felt like he'd outgrown that phase of his life or he got bored & wanted to move in a different direction in life. Whatever it was, I just thought it was odd that he could have such a talent in music & then just move away from it.
No chat with stza then ?
I love Jessie Michaels! Operation Ivy, Common Rider, Big Rigs, and Classic Of Love!!! He is a master songwriter!
Meh. He's no SEWER TROUT...
Great stuff, thanks for making this!

This was really cool. I joined the dear you band wagon so I’m not cool. I’m bummed I missed the tour.
I have about 10 short vids of them at the Chicago show last month. don’t have them on my channel on here I don’t think. But feel free to check. Maybe I put some there and forgot lol. I don’t know if you can message people who post in the comments of vids , but I’ll send you a link to the shared album if you can figure out how to message me.
@@missvincent7017 ha! That would be great! I’d love to see your videos 😁😁🤘🤘
Dude!!! I love his art, personality and views sooooo much!! I'd read a book that had pages of "I sat around and thought about watching Tv... I didn't feel like getting up though"

1:01:26 Covid 19 was that manufacturerd epademic psuedo crisis. Wow man he called that before it happened
Yeah…. Um, no.
@@johnnyconsumer oh okay
Is there any way to send Jesse an email right now? I did an interview with him via email when I had first discovered op ivy. I was like 15 or maybe younger than that. On my end, I do not have the email because it was a hotmail address and I think that hot mail is either gone or impossible for me to log into. He probably doesn't have it either because it sounds like he has had tons of interviews before and since then, but I was thinking that maybe if he has the same email ( I found it on the common rider website ) then maybe he can just search it. Great interview so far, I am about halfway through it.
luckily i went on your website and read the blog post about the interview, because until then i thought you were talking about "fucking the coach", i was like what?! :D not that the post made me be any less "what" :D
Jesse Michaels 30 years later and still handsome
Love this interview. Thanks
Love it. I’m Canadian. I’m an op ivy guy. I’m a fan. Damian Abraham will do this podcast in a second. Hope you ladies didn’t quit..
I absolutely love you guys! Dont chug Brandy!! Lol I learned my lesson 😣
So great i could have listened to hours and hours of this
Your 100% right! He’s a phenomenon! A true bafoon. He is a knee jerk reaction to the country becoming darker younger and more about unity and equality. I’ve seen so many people who were so gun hoe about him because he was controversial just the spectacular.
Thank u so much for this episode you two are fabulous. Getting your guests to be so open and honest!
Watched 20 minutes of this and was inspired to drink a beer. Hey look at that it's noon! Great interview. Love hearing the back stories in a very raw and open format. Cheers.
The lyrics that you wrote had such a deep, meaningful and profound effect on me.
TheTaralovesmakeup “considered a lyrical oracle and I’m a most appreciative one” 👍🏽
He is pretty dismissive of most of the lyrics he wrote for Op Ivy.
Hot chicks right there.
Nice. Like it.
Discount was the other band with a girl singer everyone mentioned.
Edward Pignataro IV Nope, cinder block's band is Tilt.
Chad Allen i was meaning that the singer in even in blackouts made me think of Alison from Discount. Like a lot of people liked Doscount. Tilt too I guess but never got into them much.
Awesome podcast! I've been following these guys since their first EP and they're super cool dudes.
Correction Maura Weaver from Mixtapes, not Maureen. I think she is great.
Nice interview, i love the bombpops music, its great to see 4 beautiful girls talking about punk rock, btw is there any chance that you can share those lyrics?? been looking for them everywhere without any luck :(. keep doing what youre doing!!!!
