My big takeaway, other than velocity, is workload. Another section of the report talks about the spike in injuries at the beginning of the season. I'm wondering if the reduced workloads, and off-season rest, contribute to that. Maybe taking the winter off, then coming out and going full bore isn't the answer. Perhaps a pitcher's arm needs consistent work to stay strong. Not saying throw full out in the winter, but regular (every 4th or 5th day) workouts, from a mound can reduce stress. I'm also wondering how much velocity has to do with injury. Look at old school pitchers. Before the 70's-80's, it wasn't uncommon for starting pitchers to make 35+ starts, pitch 200+ innings, maybe make a few relief appearances. What changed? Velocity. Go look at some of those careers. The guys throwing 200+ innings didn't strike out nearly as many batters. I went to BR, and picked a random pitcher. John Tudor pitched just a hair less than 1800 innings, and had 988 k's. Or Mike Torrez, 3043 IP with 1404 K's. This is supposition, but maybe the games emphasis on velocity is destroying pitchers arms.

Bottom line, the human arm was not meant to throw a baseball like MLB pitchers throw a baseball. The overhand motion is naturally conducive to injuries, and as pitchers get stronger it only means the injuries get worse and there are more of them. This is why velocity is pushed so much - the more of it, the more outs you get. So naturally guys push themselves, and its why farm systems are stocked with guys who throw hard, so when a guy blows his elbow out, another one is ready....to blow his elbow out. Of course, the better pitchers have other stuff besides velocity, but in today's game, if you aren't hitting 95mph you better have really good stuff to offset it. Most don't.

I don't know why this got recommended to me, because I don't watch baseball anymore even though it was my favorite sport for 20 years. I haven't watched a single game for at least 5 years. The game is so boring and its two fold, the pitchers are too good. Strikeouts are the most boring way a batter can make out. Secondly, far, far, far too many hitters are swinging with massive uppercuts, flying out all the time and outfielders basically never drop fly outs. Ground balls used to be exciting to watch. Bunts, stolen bases, these are the things that made baseball interesting, and they've successfully removed them from the game.

Soto is too high considering he is just a hitter. Also, Acuna when healthy, he is the top 3 player, he should be higher than where he is. Obviously, no one can top Ohtani as he is number one.

That 2nd inning 3 run home run by Ohtani in Game 1 of the NLDS was the biggest momentum changer I have ever felt. We never had a moment like that in the past 11 seasons in the postseason. That homerun told us Dodgers fans that this year, it’s finally going to be different.
