I get why ND fans are reluctant to give freeman credit but can we give the man some credit for how the team is playing. I also realize there’s a long way to go yet but after the NIU game this team has looked exactly how everyone thought they’d look all year and you have to give freeman some credit for it.

ND wins out, they are in. The NIU lose sucks bad - REALLY bad - but if they win out, they are in. Because ND is not in a conference, they are going to have to play an extra game. That opponent is going to be good regardless and they are going to have to earn wins. As for the win, the offense capitalized on turnovers. That is so important. Love was excellent. The defense played very well and Sneed had probably his best game of the year. Refs aside, ND must cut down on penalties. It has been a problem all year. It will cost them in the future if they don't cut down on them. My dad once said, "All refs are bad but some are worse than others."

Officials were biased and bad. ACC corrupt.

Its almost always better to defer, for a lot of reasons. The opportunity to get the back to back scores to end and start the halves is only present when you defer. Also, getting the ball first in 2nd half is better because you have an idea of the kind of game you are in (are you up big and want to slow it down to shorten game or are you behind and know you need to put up some quick points). Also, teams are normally the most geeked up at the start of the game which helps the D but can hinder execution on offense if too fired up.

Agree, that was my thought...get them to 3rd down before calling the timeout. Unfortunately his analytics boss probably told him to call it then.

It's very possible NDs Oline next year will be 5 future NFL guys. The 3 mentioned (Scrauth, Craig, Jagusah) with Lambert & Black. If it isn't those 5 someone beat out a good player. Replace Rudolph? Please, spare me the nonsense. Knapp is a short 6'4" and listed at 290. He most certainly is not that heavy. Wagner is listed at 290 too, that's also a stretch.

Good stuff. IMO, Denbrock schemes up like 1-2 of these elite play calls every week but a lot of his system leaves a lot to be desired. Not a ton of motion, eye candy, etc. Very predictable on most plays

Good substitute for Deuce.....Not an upgrade as a recruit though, that's silly......I will be Hebert's biggest fan but right now Deuce is the better prospect by a lot.
