I got this game at Christmas in 2012. When life was so uncomplicated and my little brother and I would play for the entire day and in between courses of our christmas dinner.

i was hired as a teacher’s aid but kind of got thrown into being a teacher with teacher responsibilities despite me being 18, so i’m really tired. i work mostly with 1st graders and it’s wonderful, but also difficult of course. i’m coming to find that working with kids is a mixture of feeling their joy and also having this unexplainable sorrow in my chest at all times. i don’t know where it comes from most times, i don’t know why sometimes i just feel so sad with children. part of it is sometimes that i see them growing up and i realize that they are going to grow up and experience being human-and that just seems to me like much too cruel a fate for a child. i’m witnessing these kids and their development and taking part in it and it’s kind of insane, and it’s hard to process everything. i’m also neurodivergent, so seeing myself in the neurodivergent kids and understanding their struggles but knowing they’re going to experience so much hardship anyways really kills me inside. it’s like my bones are being grated down when i think about how there’s nothing i can do except have compassion-not that that’s a small thing, just that there is nothing to change what will inevitably happen for children who perceive the world differently. all that to say, this is a wonderful mix for when i come home from all of that. thank you. makes me feel the sadness a little less sadly, if that makes sense. takes the nostalgia from working with kids and restores the happy part of it. i think it’s like i feel the sad part of nostalgia at work, and i’m just sad about children, but it’s confusing because they also make me so happy-but having this nostalgic music restores some of my own happy memories. i love mario galaxy more than any other game in the world
