One motion shooting feels very different from traditional two shooting style, the ball doesn't stop the entire shooting motion, you are basically transforming power from the core to the up motion, then using the wrist to prop the ball forward. The ball has momentum not from the point of aim but all the way when the ball is near the hip, this way it saves a lot of energy trying to shoot long distance vs the traditional two motion shooting form, and it gives the shoot a certain feeling of smoothness. Once you get it, you can probably shoot free throws this way without any of the underbody gets involved at all, it's like throwing the ball up but with aiming.

Hard to see in this video but the most important thing she does is with her EYES. To all the kids out there learning how to shoot: never watch the flight of the ball. Keep your eyes on the target (the center of the rim) and your eyes will auto-focus (yes, just like your camera) subconsciously, adjusting left-right and front-back til you are swishing shots dead center. Watching the flight of your own shot disconnects this incredible auto-focus feature of the eye-brain partnership. Yes, you can still make shots by NOT doing this, but you will never be a GREAT shooter, just an average shooter. Yes, it can be fun to watch those spinning basketballs as they float softly toward the basket (especially the multi-colored balls!) but DISCIPLINE your eyes to NOT do this. Please trust me on this. I don't know much---but I know this. ❤

As a kid I patterned my jump shot after Jerry West, now I couldn’t hit the side of a barn but my jump shot looked great, on first seeing Caitlyn that’s what I noticed her excellent form and release and quickly became a fan. Since then her passing has captured my imagination, some of the youtube people compare her to Nash, but I see a lot of Magic in her game.
