Wyming Brook in the Peak District
Wyming Brook Nature Reserve is a 'Site of Special Scientific Interest', but also it is incredibly stunning, immersed in a valley of mossy rocks, ferns and trees. It almost feels slightly Jurassic.
It was a short walk less than 5 miles, but a very enjoyable one loving the sounds and the colours of late Autumn.
I am sorry about the 'blips' in the video I thought I had sorted it but obviously not, guess I will have to get another camera !

River Wye canoe trip
Просмотров 1732 месяца назад
At the beginning of September my brother Paul, cousin Andrew and my brother's brother in-law Garry canoed down a part of the River Wye. It is a trip my brother and myself have been talking about for around three years, it took the addition of Andrew to actually sort it out and make it happen. It was supposed to be for three days but on the last day the weather forecast was heavy rain and I didn...
Beal Campsite to Berwick Upon Tweed along the East Coast Path
Просмотров 1373 месяца назад
After walking the St Cuthbert's way I needed to catch the train home from Berwick-Upon-tweed. I decided to walk along the relatively newly formed English Coastal Path section between Holy Island and Berwick. It is about ten miles and was a very rewarding walk. Starting fairly early in the morning the sun enhanced the features of the route in it's early light, and to be with nature as it wakened...
St Cuthbert's Way - Part 6

This was a real mixture of a day. I had to wait for the tides to be right to cross over to Holy Island via the Pilgrims Path, which wasn't until mid afternoon. So I spent the morning hanging around the camp site which after a few hours became a little tedious, I just wanted to get on with the walk. Finally around three I started walking across the sands, it was an amazing experience, I found it...

This was a great days walking and I had the pleasure of sharing some of it with fellow pilgrims along the way. The landscape was different again fields of crops and cattle less wild than the previous two days. It was also exciting to see the goal of my walk in the last few miles of my walk the sea beckoned with a sense of anticipation holding the island in it's waves.

This is a very short video, but then it was a short walking day. Only about eight miles to the town of Wooler. It was though one of my favourite days, I was all alone with amazing views walking across the hills, it was a fine morning it all felt super chilled out. Also I must admit I was looking forward to arriving at the hostel and having a clean up and a proper bed. I arrived at Wooler a bit ...

One of the highlights of my walk was walking over the Cheviot hills. They are so wild and lonesome. When you are in the midst of them there is not a single road or building to be seen, and I don't think I met a single person. Arriving at Kirk Yetholme was special, it is where the Pennine way finishes which I completed in 2014. It brought back many memories of sore feet, a welcome relief and sen...

On the second day of my walk the landscape evolved from woods and rivers, into rolling hills and fields of ripening wheat as I headed towards the Cheviots. After a pretty good nights sleep (eventually) I walked from the heights of the Bembridge Downs down to Sandown and on to Shanklin and Ventnor finishing at Saint Catharine's Head the most southerly tip of the Isle of Wight. It was an enjoyable but demanding walk at times because this was the stretch where I encountered the most diversions due to cliff erosion.

Thanks for sharing Clive, I'm planning on doing this route in May 25 with a tent and have a couple of questions for you. How heavy was your pack and how easy is it to get to the site in Hinderwell? Thanks in advance

      @clivestrudwick 2 дня назад

Hi James, thanks for watching my videos. My pack weighed between 11 and 12kg. When you arrive a Port Mulgrave you will hit a tarmac road, this bears away from the coast towards Hinderwell. Follow the road, take the left hand fork when you are in the village up to the High Street. Turn left and the Serenity Camp site is a little way along the road on your right. Hope you have good weather for your walk, I really enjoyed the Cleveland Way. ATB Clive

I had to come back to this to post a comment. I saw that there were no comments before I started watching the vlog, but I didn't realise that it was because the end is so sudden. Nice brief interlude, the end is (almost) in sight. Watch out for ticks! Since I got into Ren (Ren Gill - just put that name into YT) I am more aware of the dangers of ticks. He was bitten in his late teens, and has suffered with lime disease and misdiagnosis complications since.

Hi Clive! "There is nobody in the country who is lower than me" For the UK does that make you the lowest of the low? When I was at school back in the 60's, when in my teens, I was taken on a school trip to a local colliery, and we went down t' mine. Yes in one of those cage lifts that travel down faster than if you could falling. So how low can you go? Or is that cheating? You could try getting to the physical Centre, but I know that is debated. Hi Clive. I think that most of the rock you see around Beacon Hill is metamorphic, having been changed by the heat of the igneous (volcanic) rock. But looking the local geology up on't'internet I read of pyroclastic flow and fine grained granite from another volcano nearby in Whitwick. Complicated stuff! Thanks for the armchair walk. Bye!
