In Push Hands, you can be strong but not stiff; you can be soft/light but not weak. Stick and follow is the basics; attack the attack and fill any opening is more direct. The key to not getting pushed is to listen, absorb and redirect. The key of pushing is to allow your opponent to push you. Here, I'm working with Deborah on some basics. A teacher must use the right amount of energy for the st...
Fajin explained @taichi

In this short clip, I’m giving a brief explanation about how to do Tai Chi Fajin. Many people do it with explosives, I focus on the connection. The whole body unites at the finish to maximize the power created by movement and mass. The legs push, body turns and arms extend. Qi expands and spirits expresses. Update: After seeing some responses, let me clarify. I didn't mean other martial arts do...

Here's a short clip from the Long Form part 3 review. From this video, I talked a lot about how Tai Chi energies work, it's all common sense and easy to understand. Common sense may not be so common because no one points in the right direction. People make simple things complicated because they don't grasp the root of it.
Practicing the kicks
Просмотров 2,9 тыс.Год назад
The kicks in Tai Chi forms are important in many ways. To be able to kick with balance, it requires good form, the right energy and practice. Even when kicking fast with Fajin, there's no kickback like when you fire a gun, it's more like shooting an arrow with a bow. The power from the kicks comes from the internal center of the body, as it goes through each part of the body, the right energy i...

    Sigh... people focus on "Explosiveness" because that's what Fajin is! Taiji often attacks without explosiveness, it is not the only or best way to strike or attack. You CAN use Fajin with brush-knee. It does not make sense with Push or kicks. These use different Jins. Tai Chi does not use the concept of "follow-through" for striking. Rather, it emphasizes "Release" and "mindful of the rear". You are not wrong when you talk about expansion, but it is not Tai Chi instruction to put the Yi into a follow-through. We have a rich legacy, why not use it?

    • @AlexDongTaiChi
      @AlexDongTaiChi 7 месяцев назад

      Well, this is a 5 minutes clip about one thing. Of course you can do whatever you wants to. Use fajin or not, Taiji is about changes, use what's right for the situation. We can go on and on talking about, only in a real situation we know what works and who's better.

    • @daryabeygi
      @daryabeygi 7 месяцев назад

      @@AlexDongTaiChi I feel like we are getting off on a wrong foot. I am curious about why you advocate a "Fajin Form" and how you think Taiji teaches Fajin. The two clips I have seen have nothing to do with Fajin from my perspective. I hope to understand better about your school's method someday. I hope I am wrong that your approach appears contradictory with my experience of learning FaJin.

    • @AlexDongTaiChi
      @AlexDongTaiChi 7 месяцев назад

      It's all good. Thanks for explaining. I mean why not. We practice some forms slow, some fast and some with fajin. That's what we do. The same question can be applied to any form and style. We also practice drills with fajin and individual move. We also do it with a partner. It's hard to get into details writing, but yes. when you have a chance, stop by. @@daryabeygi

    You have a tendency to lean forward too much (almost like you doing Wu form ,not Yang). Suspend the head, tuck the chin,there is no point of opening the lower back if your head is not suspended from above. Other then that all looks good.

      This is call hollow the chest and raise the back. When you are too upright, you don't have much power. Most fighting positions are a little rounded. What you describe is more modern Yang.
