ICE Passenger Train at 219 Scale MPH
Просмотров 66628 дней назад
We had an evening for Passenger Trains at Night. This train was brought in by a volunteer for the event. Prototypical speed for an ICE train on passenger train at night. The OC&E detector clocked this ICE train at a scale 219mph! This was a rare occasion to have a train at the Colorado Model Railroad Museum going so fast.

Chasing BNSF On the 20.5 Scale Mile Layout
Nice 👍
I LOVE "F" units. And the scenery looks fabulous and realistic on the layout as always. Unfortunately, this video is too short.
Wow, that is one mishmash of a train. Anything and everything in it. I like the RPO baggage right in the middle of the train. Nice.
How??????
Some questions, if I may. What are those white stickers (?) on the roof of the SP locomotives for? To identify them as designated Track Cleaning power? Is it one train over the whole system or are there two, each running in opposite directions? Do they clean mainline sidings daily as well, or are sidings cleaned, like, every second day? TIA
I will have to ask about your questions next time I am at the museum.
Beautiful video shots and great camera work. This is one of my favorite railroads to railfan. Love it, keep'em coming.
Same here! This layout is awesome!
Track cleaning trains! Now, that's what I call an ingenious idea! 💡
Southern Pacific 1970’s Commuter train running around.
The world’s fastest ICE Train is taking off in United States!
Southern Pacific F Units hauling a long load of freight.
Which one of those trains?
Southern pacific steam train hual a lot of freight.
The GE train carrying wind turbine blades on flat cars!
The BNSF train carrying construction materials and lot of bridge pieces.
The ATSF train carrying Tower Cranes and containers on flat cars.
I've nothing but good things to say about the CMRM. I've always admired the realistic looking landscapes of the layouts. And the HO scale engines and rolling stock are fabulous. I enjoyed watching this short, but interesting video.
So happy you enjoy the museum!
Here comes a passenger trains! There’s the Amtrak diesel, and rio grande steam train!
So you can speed match Tsunami2 and a ESU locos together in a consist? What do you use for a hand held controller? Thanks.
@@rockhead4534 The volunteer only has Soundtraxx decoders. He does not have ESU. You can see the NCE throttle in the video 🙂🚂
Okay I didn’t hear him say only Tsunami. Thanks.
I’m looking to model this train in a train simulator and was wondering if you happened to know how many cars these trains typically had? There doesn’t seem to be much info on it on the internet
Per a volunteer, “He needs to get a hold of of the Rio Grande Modeler magazine, the prospector, volume six number four”
@ thank you, how would I go about getting that magazine?
@ I would look online
Very fine!!!
Very fine video! Thanks for sharing! The one thing I'd add is that I wouldn't trust those four locomotives to be anywhere near close in speed even after applying the newly produced speed table. This is a very good trick to get a similar locomotive close! It would be well worth actually checking each one and be surprised and pleased that they are actually close with the updated speed table. 😉 Enjoyed!!! Thanks again!
I have seen those trains run on this layout and at La Mesa. They ran with no additional speed matching.
So how do the changes made on the computer get to the locomotives? Does it update thru Bluetooth or is there some sort of port on the locomotives?
Great question! Information is passed from the computer through an interface to the DCC command station through the rails to the decoder.
@ColoradoModelRailroadMuseum Thank you. Would have been far more interesting if the whole process was explained in the video.
I’ve literally spent the entire morning looking for something like this, and I don’t understand why it’s so hard to find. It is such common sense is this day and age so that should be a wireless power mat table tops that could be used for stuff without having to worry about batteries or something like that. I’m so glad I found this video and I am now looking into this book. Thank you!
love it!
Nice show you put on with Southern Pacific F-units. I LOVE F-units! For me, the fun started here 👉 03:27; I love to see F-units in "lash-up" consists with "B" units. I enjoyed watching the F-units in the A-B-B-A lash-up for remainder of the video. And, of course, the layout is spectacular! All layouts with their beautiful landscapes (at the CMRM) are enjoyable to watch.
@@everettthepetractionguy4222 Glad you liked the video! I was filming several trains at the same time. It was hard to get a lot of video of all of them. That is a great problem to have 🙂We never know what the volunteers will bring!
During the Railblazers runs (mid to late 1980's) most of the flat cars were painted yellow Trailer Train schemes. I visited this layout a few years ago on a trip from Northern Virginia to Utah. Fantastic layout but oregon scenery in Colorado? I was told this is what the guy who funded the layout wanted. I'm a Rio Grande fan so I always enjoy trains that are typical of the 70's and 80's. The Railblazer ran from 1986 and was named based on a "name that train" employee contest at the Rio Grande. By 1986, cabooses were removed from most trains but I'm not complaining since much of my life, cabooses were the norm. City Market grocery trailers were typically on Railblazers, heading to destinations where City Market stores were located, such as Glenwood Springs and Grand Junction CO.
It is a long time ago, when a real german ICE train ran in the US.
The GWR 1010 is at the museum in Windsor. The 1007 red side door caboose in these pictures is in Wyoming on the ranch of the railroads owner. The 90, 75 , 51 and the 60 all still operate on various tourist railroads. The 51 is at Hudson Colorado in storage. I am a Great Western Railway employee for over 25 years and fallow our old locomotives.
@@mikedunkelberger7787 thanks for the info 🙂
Cool. Will there be a catenary installed?
There's rarely a dome after the baggage car - usually the diner because they use part of the baggage car for food storage (rolls, etc)
@@Randy-jna this train is owned by a volunteer. This is how he pieced his consist together.
@@ColoradoModelRailroadMuseum I understand, as I worked for the ARR, I was just trying to share some accurate prototype info for him.
Ah yes. Robert Bondie. I saw him last summer in Little Rock Arkansas working on the UP4014, as part of the Union Pacific Steam Crew.
Who made the cars
Work on AC-11 is impressive. Great layout. Stunning scenery too.
The Yampa Valley Mail Train!
Michelle, Ralph, here, after Christmas, send me one of those SF loco's and I'll weather it for you!
@@theMudFather Michelle’s doesn’t run the RUclips. If you are referring to a locomotive in the video, it is owned by a volunteer. 🙂🚂
It would look very nice weathered I do say
thanks great shots

Always neet to see Rio Grande Trains. Every time I look in on the CMR, I'm hoping to see one of the main photographers, Bill Rogers. I haven't seen one of his in a long time, has he retired from trains and taking those wonderful movies of the CMR?
@@williamwargo3066 thanks for asking. Sad to say Bill Roger’s passed away. He was a wonderful volunteer, and donated much of his time and talents to the museum. He definitely spent lots of time on his videos.
Didn't you guys announce an event for May 2025. I'm thinking about visiting that month.
@@RonMontagueSWRR the Rocky Mountain Region NMRA Convention is that month. There’s Depot Days in Cheyenne the 3rd weekend of May. Usually steam shop is part of that.
@ColoradoModelRailroadMuseum okay thanks
Very nice! Thanks for sharing.
You’re welcome!
Those are very impressive modular bridge sections, but I would think they'd look more at home on the 8 axle heavy flats over 89' foot flats. I think they'd exceed the weight limits of those long cars.
Good thing we are not 100% prototypical then 🙂🚂
That's awesome! My spouse and I did a 5k Run for the Cure this month, and this is great inspiration for me to add a similar touch to my model railroad
And is it dc or dcc knuckle coupler or the other kind
All trains that run on the layout have to use Kadee coupler #5. The layout is DCC.
@ What’s Kadee Coupler The Only Kinds Of Coupler’s I Know Off And Have Heard Of Are Knuckle Coupler And Rapido Coupler
@ Kadee is a brand. 🙂🚂
Now I See What You Mean
What scale or gauge is it is my question
@@BigBoy-b1m our layout is HO scale and DCC.
Thats cool !!!!
Very nice models. Thanks for sharing.
