SILENT HILL - The REAL LIFE Dahlia Gillespie house in Maine
This is the Olson House….the real life building that inspired the Gillespie House location featured in the iconic survival horror video game series, Silent Hill. The house is featured in the original PlayStation classic Silent Hill, as well as its prequel Silent Hill: Origins.
The inspiration for the location featured in the games was taken from a 1948 painting by artist Andrew Wyeth entitled “Christina’s World” in which the house can be seen in the background of the painting. Since this house is 2 miles down the road from where I live in Cushing Maine, I figured why not document and share what it looks like today in 2024 with the Silent Hill fans out there.

A project I did for an assignment while in College. My buddy Eric Brown and I visited my hometown of Vinalhaven for the night. An island off the coast of Maine. In short, The Burden is essentially a (slightly) exaggerated version of a nightmare I had while I was in college. The memory of which has remained with me to this day.

Thank the evil liberals for destroying small towns. Wake up people!
From yemen me..i watched this film in 1988..i loved part3 becasue i love mercedes
16:05 during a Winter storm in 2003 i got locked out of my dorm up in Orono and couldnt get in, it was around 3am, so i decided to drive home to Brewer. Well i was going around that corner and slid off the road into the ditch. Luckily a truck drove by and was able to pull me out easily. Whenever I tell the story I always say it was right where this movie was filmed. "Thanks for the ride lady!"
When I saw the fork in the road I new I've driven there a few times and that was the first place I thought of Dexter it's changed a little bit since I used to go there to run a business.
Thanks a lot. It's obvious that this trip means a lot to you, I understand you perfectly, I'm a huge fan of film locations too
Hey Billy just subscribed to your channel much respect and appreciation for your videos Excellent channel fantastic content love the locations love from Dublin Ireland 🇮🇪

I can't thank you enough for the enormous amount of work you have put into this channel. Thank you so much for making all of this available. I have always dreamed of visiting these locations but I never did it and now I am too old to travel so your videos are giving me a chance to see these places. I hope you know how much I appreciate it.
I almost moved to Dexter. I ended up in Skowhegan.
I always wondered about these locations I love this movie definitely underrated
Mi'kmaq native from Eskasoni. The "k" sounds like a "G" and the "q "is silent Mik-maw is how we pronounce it, mic mac isn't right but a joke here. Fun fact we invented the hockey stick.
I too think the face that comes out of the rocks is Jud. I always have. It looks just like Fred Gwynne to me. Also, Judd had JUST received that call from Rachele and he then knew immediately what Louis was up to. It's Jud, and nobody will convince me otherwise
For anyone who likes visiting locations in Google Earth Pro's client, the coordinates of this building are: 44.971371°, -69.546480°. The location can be viewed from the street level, too.
A real mill playing a mill. It is quite rare to see practical locations which are not only real, but which had also actually served the same purposes in real life as the buildings which they played in films. It's not too common to see real buildings used so extensively in the picture. It's sad yet, at the same time, somewhat symbolic that this building appears to be as abandoned and forgotten as the film itself - an excellent, underappreciated, unjustly abandoned picture, with a surreal, dreamy-nightmarish atmosphere.
Retirement community is relatively new. Even in the late 90s there was a road you could drive from the library to another road. There was a gravel pit in there too. Road ran on top of the river bank.
10:30 I remember my mother telling me about seeing filming down here going on when she was driving home from work, and 15:00 I regularly take this exit when driving to see my parents, and think of that scene every time lol
Great job cuz
Great!!! Video!!!🎉
I lived in Dexter, If you look at your example, you will see the coats and such hanging in the window for sale at Renys. There was not actually a news stand there but one was superimposed for the movies sake.
But that’s not where the exorcism happened. That’s just where they film the movie
That’s correct.
It's the Bartlett Mill est. 1829. There was a fire , but the Bartlett family rebuilt quickly. They are in business yet today, selling wool, alpaca and other fiber yarns in the offices across the street from the mill. They also have a website where they sell the yarns they have. And the history of the mill. I do know it is the oldest continues working mill in the state.
This is the and i mean THE best film location of pet sematary. Fantastic!! Ive seen pretty much all of them and this is just flawless
@@michaelgriffith4110 thank you so much! That means a lot to me. It was definitely a labor of love. I wanted to create the most comprehensive video available about the filming locations for deep divers like myself. I’m glad to hear folks like you are out there. That’s who it’s for. Thanks again!
@@wjd329absolutely man! U want a great experience on a based off of movie. Visit centralia pa sometime which was the basis of silent hill movies. You made me feel as though i was there! Thanks a bunch for this

Meu sonho vicitar essa casa
Not sure the famous scene of Brody sitting on the beach was shot at 'Jaws Beach' (47.22) as in the movie he is looking out across open water and not at the rocky breakwater. Wouldn't bet my mortgage on it, mind! Great video, BTW.
Great video! This is one of the few horror remakes that I actually like.
THANKS FOR THE RIDE, LADY! 😂

At 47:50 the rocks line up perfectly with the screenshot. Amazing.
Thank you so much for this video! Went there yesterday and would have been lost as hell without this, wouldn’t have even found the gate! Even for people who don’t love the movie (like us) this place is majestic!
Soy un gran fanático de Pet sematary amigo me encantó tú largo video Saludos desde Córdoba capital Argentina.
The scene where the hitchhiker is in the woods and crushed against the tree is in Old Town, Maine in the University woods. If you drive down Jefferson St where it turns into Perkins Ave, on the corner is a bike path into the woods. it was filmed in the woods in that area. Also, they used Carver Road and Library Road near the Library in Hampden when she was driving on the dirt roads. I believe it was on Library Road where she runs over the Hitchhiker over and over, back and forth. Back in the 80s when they were still dirt roads before they were ever developed.
Exactly! I was living in Pine Haven trailer park on Stillwater Ave in Old Town at the time of filming. My roommate and I watched while they filmed on the bike path.

Every time I watch this gem....the scene where they stumble upon the stick figures...I get super anxious, excited, and creeped out knowing that once night falls, they'll be taunted by the witch herself and hear children's voices....the best scene in the movie IMO
Awesome video, so glad I came across it. I am going for the Crystal Lake tour on October 13th and will check out the towns as well. This coming Friday is Friday the 13th.
Perfect! Thank you, greetings from Serbia

Great job it was nice to see some locations that were never seen before. Question though do happen to know the wherabouts of where the truck is that was built and used in the film. I watched another video years ago and someone found it in abandoned in a junkyard.
Ha! I sure do. Believe it or not, I’m actually the person who found it, but that other dude beat me to the RUclips video and I can prove it based on the timestamp of my photos compared to his RUclips video. I found it one month prior to him. In any case, a heating oil company owner purchased the truck from the owners who had it when I found it. That company is called V. L. Tammaro Oil Co. The truck resides at their Baileyville Maine location. You can schedule a visit to see the truck. They just request that you call ahead and arrange it, and not just show up. If you’re interested, their phone number is 207-454-7500.
