Hey man! My buddy's full size grizzly is nearby so it's fun to see the difference. I'm still happy with it but it's massive amount of dust and definitely lighter duty. I beefed up the top bars and put expanded steel on when I wanted a more finished product. All in, it was good! The wheels were dumb! Just lift it with the loader.

@josh, I'd try maybe reddit or permies.com as a start. Those are free and good starts. Not sure of the listing cost on zillow but a lot of folks are searching around on there.

I haven't checked the market in a bit so I can't say in regards to new availability. But your read on the situation sounds accurate. Between the combo inverter/charger and the batteries the flow can go either way.

I was going to install a single DC breaker in the positive line from the inverter to the battery bank but have the same question. Since it charges and discharges, at some point wouldn't that be reversing polarity? Maybe I would be better off with a disconnect that doesn't have a breaker.

@@jamiewilson7280 Thanks for digging my (royalty free) music taste! I actually did something similar although I call them "footholds" moreso than "steps" as I just anchored shoebox-ish sized rocks. I've been considering putting some cement steps in because I can control the shape and pre-set the rebar holes. Maybe I'll make a video about that once the snow clears!

Hey man! Yeah there's a big difference. A lot of things you listed (checking for liens, deed changes, escrow) is the title company. The agent can draft up the contract, but you can too. The escrow and title is all handled by the title shop. The agent's primary thing is to help you find what you want and negotiate the price. But past that you'd be using a title company for all the meat of the operation.

When that process happens, does the title company fax the counties titles / deed office the signed contract - then the county looks at it and updates their records with my name as the new owner? So I wont get an attorney and will go strictly through a title company - any suggested companies? Whats the average price, or is it a percentage fee? Is it genrally cheaper then an attorney? It will be for land in Tennessee, price around $100k. Also your video is well done, im surprised you dont have more subscribers.

I didn't mention them because I'm not using them. From the research I did they are remote trippable switches. I *think* some degree of current is supplied which will trip the circuit for remote purposes and allow it to be used for a shutdown of sorts. MidNite Solar really anticipated these to be used in side of their hardware so there's not a better documentation source that I've been able to find.

@@dusthavendotcom Thanks I had a thought that is what they would be used for as well ... MN does have several products which would allow for this. We have three of these 600's going into one of their 12 slot boxes with 3 SPD's to feed our SMA SB 7.7 so wanted to figure out the extra wires before commissioning it :D

In most cases you're right, you very much want to protect the rebar from rusting. However a lot of rebar is driven straight into the ground (exposed to moisture) and in my case I'm in a pretty dry area so I'm okay with the corrosion.

Hey Peter. If I'm understanding you correctly, the only way current should be traveling between a charge controller and a battery is from the charge controller into the batteries. The batteries should not be pushing current into the charge controller. I would put the ++ side of your breaker on the charge controller's output, and the -- side on the batteries. Your victron charge controller, and probably your panels, should have diodes in them that would prevent current from going backwards (from the batteries to the charge controller).

I have some second thoughts thou because maybe the controller has diodes but as i red to some solar forums some people mentioned that in case the battery create a shortcut inside the battery or if controller gets damaged by some reason then many thousands of amperes will return to the controller. So they say that in the battery circuit with controller we put always the ++ at the battery side to prevent the huge amps return to the controler in case of failure. So yeah, and after all that i red somewhere else that specifically in the circuit of the battery and controler we put a circuit breaker that is non polarity sensitive. So, guess what i will do. I will install just a simple fuse lol. Thanks again !

For sure. I think single pole breakers like this are really for between a solar array and a controller where you can be sure of the current direction unless something very bad is going on.

I don't think the inverter would ever be higher voltage than the battery; it's a load that (without the batteries) is consuming amperage not producing it at all. I don't think there would be a source of current on the DC circuit from the inverter to the batteries.

@@dusthavendotcom So what do you call "charging" ? higher potential from inverter to lower potential in batteries ... then at at night the current runs in reverse so the batteries become the higher potential , sorry i am still confused

@@arafetkanso1405 No worries! Your solar panels should never become a load, using electricity. In a solar<->inverter/charger situation there should never be appreciable current going back towards the panels. You can see it yourself if you look at the voltage at the terminals of the inverter/charger at night time; there's likely to be next to nothing (except star or moonlight).

Of course. I mentioned to someone else try to keep your drill bit as straight as you can. It can flex a bit if you really lean on it, so it can get twisted into rocks in which case you may never get it back out again. Happened to me in the fall, it was an old bit so I just left it there and used it as the rebar so to speak.

Hey you're welcome, glad to help. One thing I'd add too is try to keep the drill as straight as you can. If you go through a rock at say 1', and then you keep going, you don't want to start getting a twist in the bit because it can lock up when it gets a little levered going to something at the 2' mark, if that makes sense. Basically just make sure you stay straight and don't over pressure the bit down because that can cause the shaft to flex, which result in it binding up.

Hey thanks! Yep, once I got on the phone with a would-be seller I just asked if I could walk the property and take pictures. Since these were all unimproved lots, every owner was fine with that. Good luck on a land hunt if you go that way!

Generally the building codes are enforced at the county level, so I'd make a cross referenced list of states/regions you're interested in, then start googling for the building code process. In my experience any county (even very rural ones) who have big metro areas tend to likewise have a very heavy handed permitting process. So it tends to be a combination of remote county + no major city in that county. Any CC&R's (covenants, codes, & restrictions) would need to be on file with the county office, so provided you have the parcel number you should be able to pull any documents related to it. Depending on the county that might be electronic or (in my world) it was manually, printed paper in the office.
