Gary Lewis: Jazz
Великобритания
Добавлен 25 май 2020
This is a space where I can primarily keep track of performances and recordings I am personally involved in as a pianist and as a trombonist. Much of the material is original or co- written with friends but there are also clips of me involved in live performances with guest artists playing jazz standards. More recently I’ve taken up trumpet which I find helps me approach music and improvisation from a new perspective and keeps my quest for learning alive.

Blown away by the guitar solo ...Lovely. --- I hope I can play like him in future. :) ..
❤❤❤👍
Outstanding. Well done.
nossa que bagunça
Incredible solo, Jim Mullen!!!😍
Thanks for showing off this piano! How easy was it to record audio and video at the same time? Did you have to sync them up later in software?
Cheers! Yes- I synced the audio recording into iMovie. It’s fairly easy and intuitive once you’ve done it a couple of times.
not music , mastrubations
sound great
Love it, and the way he plays with his thumb reminds me of Wes Montgomery
I heard him saying he kept losing plectrums, Joe Pass used to keep an extra one in his mouth. However Jim's rhythm playing with Morrissey Mullen was incredible, especially his upstroke with the thumb. So sorry he didn't make it up to Scotland with Hamish Stuart for the Jazz festival.
Fantastic!
Absolutely beastly. Unreal
very good
nice!
Superb.👌
Mighty fine guitar playing!! Horace would have been happy with this!!
His playing is timeless, everyone was great. You are only as old as you feel.
Wow Jim Mullen so Amazing solo 🔥👏
Absolutely beautiful. One of the prettiest tunes ever written in the hands of The master Jim Mullen, very nice tight little gem of a performance. Thanks for sharing :-)
unbelievable guitarist....real original artist...impeccable
Jim is not your typical grandpa. Not his first rodeo. Yeee ha
Olé
woah nice punchy guitarist!!
trumpetやsaxophoneは要らないと思う。
I feel compelled to write a comment, but truthfully I don't have the words.
Very interesting, his technique and phrasing is influenced by Wes but harmonically and note choice he is somewhat closer to Jimmy Raney.
Oh wow - that short quotation from 'My favourite things' around 2:30 or so blew me away :)
love jim,s style 🏴
I love this version too. So sweet, melancholy, almost sad but really beautiful
loveit! x
what guitar are you playing
Aria FA-71 by the looks of it.
Bloody good! How do you get your voice so low?
Ha! Hi Johnny! I’ve always had more of a bass voice than anything else. On this recording I beefed up the bass parts by singing them in several times to sound more like a small choir with doubled parts.
Morrisey Mullen was a fine Funk Blues Jazz band....love that band
Didn't see that coming, Grandpa. Much respect. Hot Licks, Great ideas... Very nice. You certainly can't judge a book by its cover.
First heard with with Brian Auger around 1970.
woow, you make this perfect sir
🙂❤
The thumb!
Been following Jim since early Kokomo and then Morrisey Mullin - what a guy - cannot get enough of this talented Scot
Wow! Been listening to him for decades but never seen a video . Never knew he played so beautifully with his thumb. Looks impossible. .
Incredible thumbpicker especially at his age. Guitar tone is as it sings and not strings probably best to describe. Good to know about his guitar.
it´s an Aria FA-71
❤️❤️❤️Эми!🌹💎👍
Wonderful improv! There is hope for us old guys still playing and learning
How does this one man jazz band just have 100 views?! Good stuff! (gonna go riff to this now 🔥)
really cool!
Hi Gary, sounds great I really enjoyed it!
Cheers Joe- lovely to hear from you! Hope you are well :-)
Jims 🎸 guitar playing is impeccable 👌 so slick.
Oh wow.. glad I found this. Great addition to Nancy.
Cheers!
Smooth, confident, atmospheric
I never heard Jim Mullen before. I've been missing out. I was not ready for that solo. Killer. You played excellent as well. Nice sign language to bring it back to the head.
