    Too young for skin cancer???? Absolutely ridiculous. I have cared for an 18 month old in the hospital with ovarian cancer, and my co worker gave birth to her last child who was born with kidney cancer. My friend’s 3 year old daughter was having some obvious symptoms, they took her to the family doctor, she tested positive for sugar in her urine and the doctor said she was too young for type 1 diabetes!!!!! News flash….type 1 diabetes used to be called juvenile diabetes because it is typically diagnosed in children and there is no such thing as being too young to have type 1 diabetes! My friend’s child was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes several days later when the parents further pursued a diagnosis. NEVER accept a doctor telling you that you are too young for a diagnosis. I am terribly frustrated with these doctors who dismiss the patient’s story/history without doing a thorough examination/inquiry. Never underestimate the value of being your own advocate. And it helps greatly if you have someone/loved one supporting you with your advocacy. ❤️ I am a former long time emergency nurse.

    I was diagnosed late spring of 22. Stage 3c. The day of tje biopsy of a weird freckle on my arm, the lymph nodes on my collarbone blew up. My primary saw me the same day and was very concerned i had cancer of a major organ. Long story short, i was lucky, only 3 of the 26 were affected. But immunotherapy is not an option because i have lupus. The risk of severe health problems is too great for the small chance itd work. A year of getting scans every few months and then lymph nodes in my armpit showed up enlarged. Went through biopsy and then surgery in Oct of 23. Once again, ive lucked out, only a handful of the bunch and tissue were affected. But once again, i cant do immunotherapy. The risk is to great because i have lupus. So here i sit, scans in a couole weeks feeling like i have a big target on me. Again. Ive changed my diet, i take turkey tail mushrooms, exercise more. Doing what i can but feeling helpless.

    I was diagnosed stage 3c metastatic melanoma summer 22. The day the dermatologist biopsied that odd little freckle, the lymph nodes blew up on my collarbone. My primary saw me immediately. He was very grim and informed me that presentation usually means major organ involvement. I got a referral to be seen by a general surgeon. He referred me for a biospy and i was lost in the system for nearly 2 months, despite calling repeatedly where the referral stood. The results were posted to My Chart before that Dr called. The horror of reading Metastatic Melanoma with zero explanation. I called my primary who referred me to a leading specialist. Things moved fast. Thankfully, my PET came back clear other than the collarbone. Had those removed, only 3 of the 26 affected. I was lucky. Immunotherapy was/is not an option as I have Lupus and risks outweigh the benefits. Did my scans every 3 mo. Got to my 1 year mark and the lymph nodes in my armpit, same side affected. I was very upset my oncologist cancelled my PET scan stating he has a "good idea" what's happening. I'd still like to know myself. Had surgery to remove the axillary nodes last October. Once again, a small percentage were affected. I developed a stubborn seroma and went through nearly 5 months of drains, scans and radiology visits. My next round of scans are in a couple weeks. The anxiety is horrible. The waiting. Not having any type of treatment options..however, if there's no cancer presenting, what to treat? The small percentage immunotherapy would work to kill off the cells dispersed in my lymphatic system vs the high risk of having serious health problems and complications because of my autoimmune disorder makes it a "take it as it comes" situation. I see my oncologist in a few weeks. I've had a lot of time to build a question and answer session. I've learned we have to be our own researchers and advocates

    I'm Australian, sun awareness is an institution and part of our life down here. TV campaigns - slip, slop and slap was a slogan back in the 80's. Slip (on protective clothing), slop (on sunscreen), slap (on a hat). I'm aghast at incompetence of medical practitioners you were faced with. There is something wrong with the system when you have to fight and advocate for your health. I actually think googling is a good thing, how else do we become aware, and knowledge is power especially when the medical profession are negligent. I hope your health is under control, you are a real heroine, sending love.

At this moment, I am recovering from a Spitzoid Melanoma on my head and neck. I can’t really see the huge wound because of its location and have to have help cleaning and changing dressings. my dad has been diagnosed with melanoma 2 weeks ago, its 2.4mm deep with no ulceration and no angioinvasion which i guess is a good sign, however it has a relatively high metastatic rate, we already established that it hasnt spread to the lungs and abdomen, however the day after tomorrow ill get the call from my mom whether it has spread to the brain or the lymph nodes, I am only 21 and have no siblings, or any close family except for my parents, my dad was the one who raised me so he is the closest person to me, i feel devastated and absolotely collapsing since i study abroad and i feel very isolated from my parents i still have a bit of hope that the cancer hasnt spread I will know soon but i am very afraid of that day I have plenty of assignemnts right now and i dont know if im up to it, i want to be strong for my dad but its really hard i dont know how, I hope you will live in good health years and spend great time with your family still, much love for you and your family, I also never seen my father weak and he is still completely symptomless but if he starts weakening i dont know if i am ready to see him suffer i dont want him to suffer i want him to be happy ❤

    Those one that look like Eczema or Psoriasis to begin with can be a rare kind of T Cell Lymphoma called Cutaneous T Cell Lymphoma and most commonly Mycosis Fungoides but sometimes other kinds like PCTL NOS , Large Cell Anaplastic,Sezary Syndrome,etc . PCTL NOS and Sezary Syndrome,as is the advanced stage of Mycosis Fungoides ,are formidable diseases with,sadly,a poor prognosis.With Squamous, and Basal Cell Carcinomas the complications that this man had would appear to be very rare so much so that as I understand it they aren't even staged with the 1 to 4 stages that Melanoma, and most other cancers, have.

  • @essanjay8604
    @essanjay8604 5 месяцев назад

    My dermatologist told me if ever you see a new lesion on your skin and it hasn't completely gone after 6 weeks get it checked out. In the UK a basal cell carcinoma is treated as "routine" and the waiting list for treatment is long. You are treated much faster if you have a suspect squamous cell carcinoma. It would be easy for the untrained eye to fall into the trap of assuming you have a BCC (especially if you've had one before) so it's always best to get things properly assessed.

      You have an scc. But it is not diagnosed by a medical professional. Therefore you must have diagnosed it as scc yourself. My recommendation is that you treat it yourself. That way you can say that you know/knew, everything about your condition and therefore cured yourself ! Unless you are wrong !😂 . Best of luck .

    It should not have taken this long to diagnose and treat!

    I was diagnosed with Stage 1A. The mole was removed and then a wide excision. Looks like they got it all. What’s the chance of it coming back?

    Thank you Caroline. I was recently diagnosed with stage 3C melanoma on my right thigh. I had a wide local excision and a sentinal lymph node biopsy. Fortunately, there was no melanoma in my lymph nodes, but there was evidence of metastasis in-transit near the mole which put me in the stage 3C category. I will be meeting with a medical oncologist in early January to discuss treatment options. Your comments have been very encouraging. Best.

    Note that 85yo was going to be assisted in dying by the medical Dr. Later received care and was doing well. Don’t let the Dr help you DIE
