100%! It all comes down to preference at the end of the day. I liked the X-Pipe and Stock Muffler setup but ultimately I went with the Corsa Sport which isn’t as loud as the Corsa Extreme.

@javierfdc1218 I like the x pipe with C&L quad muffler deletes setup too , really loud but I think it sounds good. I'd try out the borla switchfire x pipe with C&L quad muffler deletes if I had a GT. That or the corsa double x pipe.

@javierfdc1218 I actually have a 2015 3.7L cyclone convertible 🌀, I went for an under dog build and I got it for $17k at 84k miles. The 3.7 cyclone v6 in the 2011-2017 mustangs have "forged" cranks & rods from factory. With a single turbo they can handle 580-600whp safely on e85 and 480-500 safely on pump gas. They are very reliable and cheap to replace if needed. Think of it as a 370z but disguised as a mustang. Mine has a Afe intake tube + filter , Sr performance 2.5 gt x pipe -> borla ataks , MPT 91 PRX tune and recently a GT PP torsen 3.73 diff. Its a very fun and lightweight car. I actually gonna be getting the TB & intske manifolds ported soon. On my channel I have a exhaust video, id appreciate your opinion of my setup 👌

@@LuciJah420 the 08 Altima coupe is pretty much identical to my Max. I’m positive you can tune it also. Now the biggest issue is finding a tuner to tune a CVT.

In this video, it was no muffler and no resonator with a Racingline Ypipe. They don’t make racingline anymore, so Jemini makes the same Ypipe as this one if not better.

@@nicetricks123 stock the car has 230whp = 290hp to the crank. After all the bolts on I added to my car my first tune got me 260whp = 307hp to the crank on Uprev. My second tune I added a megan racing catback and used HP Tuners which got me to 275whp = 325hp to the crank.

Nope, I keep it in first and drop back in D mode right before launch. The reaction time is better doing that, DS mode actually makes the car slower compared to being in D

@@javierfdc1218 I think DS mode faster especially from a roll D is slower in my opinion because the transmission whines a lot more when in D and the rpms it just gets stuck I’ve won a lot of races using DS and beat all different types of cars using the mode DS

@@NoRegretKale so the only reason I have 325hp(275whp) is bc i street tuned the car with all the mods I have. When you place all the bolt ons and don’t adjust the air to fuel ratio yeah you’ll only see minimal hp gains like very little. The Underdrive pulley I have from Stillen is a guaranteed 10whp gain without tune. So with all my mods without a tune I’d probably do 245whp which is probably 305hp to the crank.

So I’ve pulled on Ford Ecoboosts and V6, A Genesis coupe don’t remember if it was a 2.0T, the new Civic Si’s, kept up with the new Camaro V6(335hp) until 110mph, some V6 chargers and Challengers I’ve gapped, Lexus IS 300 and the new Accord 2.0t 10speed. All of my races have been rolls and honestly, not many peeps try me don’t know why haha

Damn that’s a tough one, I know for a fact Admintune doesn’t provide that service anymore bc he stopped tuning Maxima’s with a CVT. Tuners are very hard to come by with our cars, I called 5 locations in FL until I land the right call. It can be a bitch, have you only looked for Uprev Tunes? I’m on HP Tuners try to find a shop that supports HP.

@@javierfdc1218 I’m in ct and there’s quite a few shops around that tune z’s and g’s with uprev but they won’t tune this car. Someone said it was pointless because it would “destroy the cvt” and I just had mine changed last year, but I see your’s has over 100k. Did your tune remove the throttle cut at like 80?

@@_zigzak dude I’m about to hit 130k miles 😅, I’ve been tuned twice. Bc with Uprev they remove your ETC and literally removes all restrictions for it. On the Maxima Facebook page some dudes have been able to get the Uprev but it blows up on them bc they push it too much. I haven’t taken it past 130mph bc I don’t really see the point in that. I have raced my friends 2016 V6 Camaro that has 335hp on a 40 roll and we were neck and neck up until 110mph but that was when I was straightpiped. Honestly, CVT is delicate but if you know what you’re doing it will be fine. Just constant fluid changes and you’re good. I have read on G forums they switched from Uprev to HP Tuners bc they liked the tune way more and it doesn’t remove ETC. I go past 80mph and have nothing holding it back.

@@javierfdc1218 yea fluid changes are essential, did mine like every 30k and I got 150k out of the stock one before it started going into limp mode. 100k of those miles were me abusing it so they hold up pretty well. I never bother trying to top mine out anymore out cuz it’s so disappointing above 80 lol. But if the tune fixes that then I gotta look into it.

@@_zigzak honestly i recommend it, especially if you have mods on it already. You’ll be able to get the full power from them. Stock we do 230whp(290hp) with tune I’m doing 275whp(325hp). The midrange is where the sweet spot is. I have videos of me keeping up with my bro’s Q50 3.7 who has 324whp until like 100mph

What’s up my man. Yeah the dyno bullshit is completely wrong, you literally can’t dyno a CVT. One of the funniest things I read on forums was someone who asked a Nissan GTR specialist if he should dyno a CVT and he response was “why would you want to anyways” 😂. The K&N intake for the AEM one is kinda stupid especially if they’re both short ram it’d be doing the same thing essentially. I tuned on UPREV before and I wasn’t happy with it. Too many issues trying to download the licensing and it isn’t super tuner friendly. My tuner all together stopped using Uprev and now I’m tuned on HP Tuners. A lot of the maxima’s who blow their CVT’s come from Uprev tunes Bc they remove the electronic throttle control. That controls cruise control and essentially removes the restriction to the CVT to push over 133mph but there’s reason you shouldn’t go over that speed. It causes to much damage to the CVT. That’s why Admin tuning doesn’t tune CVT maxima’s anymore Bc they blow up on him all the time. My first tune was $675 and to retune was only $275. I think $1600 is way to steep of a price. Let me know what you decide bro 🤙🏻

But the AEM intake isn’t short ram. Yeah lol unfortunately i’m not familiar with which tuner is best for this vehicle either, it sounds like a lose lose situation altogether thanks to our trans. But I for sure agree $1600 is a whole lot compared to just $670 which is reasonable. I’m based out in Pennsylvania so i’ll keep searching for something better hopefully...

@@balmainattitude yeah honestly call and just ask around. I know a lot of tuners who don’t fuck around with tuning our cars or they just don’t the software for it. I was only able to pick up a WHP from street tuning the car which shows what you’re putting down based off the pulls you do. From what it sounds like you basically have the same set up as me, if you get that true 3 inch CAI then I’m pretty sure you’ll be able to squeeze out a little more WHP than me. I put 270-275whp and just from racing multiple Q’s stock to tuned I’m essentially putting down the same stock numbers a VQ37HR puts down. It’s just they pull way better on the high end which is no joke lol.

@@javierfdc1218 Okay cool i’ll take your advice and keep looking. I just installed the Y-Pipe and I definitely feel the power gain but I kinda feel like I sacrificed low end power a bit. Like from a dig, it holds back a bit before it completely wakes up. And that has kinda always been my problem with it, it’s been a great roll car. But dead starts is where I really wanna improve. I also saw something bout a reflash from NISformance.

@@balmainattitude what’s the exhaust setup you have rn? When I was no muff/no res I also dealt with a loss in the low end. It wasn’t until I got the catback that my low end improved big time. Tbh I hate doing digs and it also causes a lot of stress on the tranny so I avoid them and still to just rolls.

I haven’t gone over 133mph bc I’m really not trying to blow up the CVT. I have so many miles on the original CVT (126k miles) that I don’t want to push it over the limit. A new CVT without warranty is almost $4k not tryna spend that ya know?

I wouldn’t say lose power at all. I’ve been tuned twice already, it wasn’t until my second tune that I could actually hang with my bro’s Q50. I also know this guy whose been tuned over 3 years and still puts the power down. The Q50 obviously has way more potential modding than the Maxima so I think ya made the good choice. Did you get the 3.0t or 3.7L?

Yeah I’ve been looking for another intake tbh so I might consider switching it. Admintuning doesn’t tune CVT anymore. I honestly should have done way better, I have other videos where I keep I up. I didn’t get my launches right and my rpms off launch were really low. Gotta do manual mode and switch back to D. Hell my most recent one was against my bro’s Q50 3.7L 324whp and I keep up. But hey I wanted to post it regardless. I’ve been tuned for over since Feb 2019 and retuned back in June 2020. Surprisingly the CVT is still holding up, I did my tranny fluid swap last Aug 19. Gonna switch when I get to that 30k miles 💪🏻 thanks for comment bro!

@@javierfdc1218 No problem bro! Yeah switching from manual to drive helps a lot since your rpm is higher. You’re correct, Admin don’t fool with our cars anymore (unless he tuned you prior) or if you’re manual swapped lol. That intake you have on now is doing nothing, just making noise lol. But she’s moving though. You might be able to find a fab shop that can custom make you a long tube intake then get a retune (world of a difference) lol.

@@kingshaka5324 damn I’ll look into that. Rn I got a 350z intake duct that is directly over my tranny and goes straight to the snorkel. It’s actually helped out a lot with cooling and just sounds overall better. I’ll look into that intake to see what I can do. You moved your battery to get that 3.5 intake?

@@javierfdc1218 Nope. Just had to cut the radiator shroud and the hood in order for it close properly. My intake runs all the way to the front bumper (in front of the condenser).

Also if you drive the car in a sporty way often and more aggressive with flooring it and what not be on top of your cvt fluid changes, I’d strongly recommend fluid changes around every 30k and if you ever hear it whining that’s a dead giveaway that your fluid is toast and is struggling to keep things cool and if not i also recommended a cvt trans cooler. Shit works magic man and not all that expensive at all
