The Central Ohio Soaring Association (COSA) is central Ohio’s premier soaring club. Just a short drive from Columbus Ohio, we offer members a chance to not only learn how to fly a glider, but also a community of welcoming, experienced, and passionate aviators. Our purpose is to help people of all ages experience the joy and art of soaring.

16 flights today, thanks to Milt for doing all the tows. Sugar, Cirrus and 4 private ships flew. I think that's a record for private ships in a long time. Kaz had the record at 3 hours. Max lift was 5000 AGL.

29 flights today with thermals to 5600' MSL (4600' above ground level). Managed to get some nice drone shots of the gliders despite the winds aloft and thought I'd put together this short and, um, slightly aggressive recap.

Thanks to John and Mike C for towing and Mark and Scott for instructing. Note the Green tow ship is down for repairs. Longest flight was 90 minutes by Kaz. New sub. Nice video 👍
Great footage!
Thanks Nick!
My goal tomorrow is 160ft from the threshold. ;)
Nice looking 1-34!
Nice video! Good aerobatics with a beautiful glider! 😉
Great footage of a beautiful soaring day!
I almost came out yesterday
Awesome!
What a fun day of flying!
Beautiful 1-26!!
I’m glad the camera missed my bounce! 😉
Great shots!
The turns from Base to Final needs to be more square, and less rounded.... I learned to fly the Schweizer 2-33. when I was 16, it was a fantastic experience, and launch a flying career.
Very well done, nice and smooth. A joy to watch for an old glider pilot who learned on 1950s/60s gliders in the early 1980s in Germany. Assume slip landings are getting out of fashion with modern slim fuselage planes.
They did great. That slip landing was for a commercial rating and were part of a no-altimeter, no airbrake landing. Thos old gliders you flew are a real joy, our club has schweizer gliders from the 60s 70s and they are a blast to fly ;)
Congrats to everyone who earned a new rating today!
Beautiful footage! I sure hate to see those low turns from base to final. A longer, higher stabilized final is much safer.
Agreed ;)
No music, beautiful
What a great turnout!
What is that towplane?
Cessna 150 with 150 hp engine
Nice work, Martin!
Central~ How’s everything going?~ like it. best video! 🎥
I miss making them! I'm coming up to COSA next weekend with drones - new one coming ;)
I miss these kind of videos Chris!
That 1-26 looks great in all red. Never seen one painted that way before.
memories of My 1st solo Flight In Scwitzer 232 on Aud 29, 1964 It was my 15thn Birthday!❤
Wow! You guys have quite the camera crew!
Just discovered your YT channel, and your COSA website. I like your collection of Schweizers and your club. Greetings from a Canadian 1-35 owner!
The Ka6 and Ka7 are very old gliders. I myself had my first lessons on the Rhone Lerge, which was another glider from the 1950s. Then on the Blanic where I flew my first solo and then Ka8, Ka7, Ka8, Twin Astir, Club Astir. Nice of you to show those old gliders here again, I look at them with nostalgia. I subscribe and hope for more of this.
There are no Ka6 or Ka7 in this video. The red glider landing is a Schweitzer 1-26 and the two seater being towed is a Schweitzer 2-33. These are old US gliders from the '70s.
When I was up in the 103, I hit that same thermal. I thought it was too small to stay centered in. Maybe the 1-26 would've done better.
Ha ha, yeah I struggled with it - managed to maintain altitude for a could of turns but nothing all that worthwhile.
Wowza. Good landing Chris!
Great day of flying!
Yeah man!! Great weekend ;)
Great footage as always!
Gnarly
Looks like a great day of flying!
Tubular!
I love the drone footage. And I love that you're using a C-150 to tow. I've heard about it being done but I've never seen it and I would have guessed that it would have been pretty difficult with a two-place glider. Only possible in flat Ohio? Thanx for posting!
Hey thanks so much! So both the club towplanes are 150s with bigger engines than stock. I think they're 150HP.
@@centralohiosoaringassociat8646 ah, that makes sense. A 150 HP 150 would be perfect for the job. The drone footage is really good. Hope you keep it up! I want to see more.
Siiiick
Wonderful!
Butter!
Spectacular!
Very cool!!
Amazing video!
These are great. Keep up the much appreciated good work. 👍🏼
You bet Kaz, thanks man!
