    My goodness, speaking a little more slowly could have been easier to understand, and video quality is a little low, but truly an interesting video. Strangely, at least for me, it went black about 5/8ths of the way through. Black and silent. Still, the stuff I saw/heard was interesting.

    We used to call it the “Astor Column” after Vincent Astor, but the proper name is “Astoria Column.”

    This review helped us pick a spot to stay and inadvertently a great place to wine and dine namely The Bridgewater Bistro which would be nice if this program is ever updated. I was just slightly and only slightly put off by someone describing a seafaring town by saying one could "park" their boat at the nearby marina. I believe the term is moor. Still all in all a refreshing and informative review of this great town.

    Sorry but there is nothing in this music against Protestant doctrine. As for "Protestant" music being played in Catholic settings.... what difference does it make? A silly comment...

  • @noklarok
    @noklarok 15 лет назад

    no, i am not "trolling",, nor did i suggest these musicians were right wing, but they are hijacking a very emotive piece for a political end. i am suggesting there is a difference between a mother losing her young child to (e.g) an illness and a mother who encouraged her son to join the army and proudly boasted of her son defending america only to have him returned in a casket. although deaths of soldiers are sad, they are avoidable... especially since there was no reason to invade iraq,

  • @noklarok
    @noklarok 15 лет назад

    any mother that let her son go to war in Iraq should accept that that was a pretty obvious outcome. the legality of the war in Iraq is now under review in the UK. everyone knows that tony and george wanted to go to Iraq. 9/11 was the real clincher. fuck the iraq war. fuck 9/11. look how our civil rights have changed. it's all bullshit. war in afghanistan is making my streets safer?? complete bullshit.

    Plagerism was a way of flattering musical colleagues at that period. The other composer did not think of it as stealing. Handel's magnificent oratorio Israel in Egypt would never have been written if he had not been able to borrow much of the music from Stradella, who was...flattered by this attention.

  • @1401JSC
    @1401JSC 15 лет назад

    Ah? Did you telephone to Pergolesi to obtain this information?

  • @1401JSC
    @1401JSC 15 лет назад

    This is not conducting, this is beating time! I don't have the impression that the singers are practising abdominal breathing and the cionductor doen't inspire this). Latin words have stressed syllables that do not necessarily coincide with high notes!

    elegantissima esecuzione. Ho cercato su RUclips lo stabat mater di pergolesi ho trovato interpretazioni provenienti da tutto il mondo da Est a Ovest non ne ho trovata una sola provenente da Napoli. Giovanni Battista Pergolesi un grande del 700 Napoletano e questa la dice lunga sulla politica culturale della nostra città.

    When I was in Croatia (Dalmatia) I stopped at a Cafe Astoria. Having had relatives from that Dalmatian town who had immigrated to Astoria, OR, I stopped. To my surprise it was named for the one in New York - from which a native had immmigrated to and returned to Dalmatia.

    very beautiful. But one of the singers over shot a little in the first movement. And thank god everyone came together in the second movement. The violins were late coming in and then the conductor tried to wait for them but thew off the cellos in the process lol

    the manage of tempo is one of the most elocuent features in a performer, i think that is the proper tempo, in my very personal opinion, very personal.... the proper tempo is the fastest possible, without damaging the spirit of the music, very personal, if you think otherwise, please don't nag at me ok, i don't care hehehe

  • @Monrealese
    @Monrealese 17 лет назад

    Before 1800 Largo was a caracter indication wich meant "broad". It got nothing to do with tempo. Since Beethoven Largo, Allegro, Andante and so fort, are tempo indications. A famous quote by Beethoven he put above a composition was: Allegro non troppo Largo quasi Andante molto Vivace.
