My daughter is using drugs and living with her drug boyfriend on the streets 😢😢😢
@@leeanne-x1x I am so sorry to hear this. There is only so much one can do to help. The user must recognize they need help. Keeping you and your daughter in my thoughts and prayers
I’ve been an addict since I was 23. I’m 50 now and though my drug of choice is heroin, I think alcohol is the worst. I haven’t used in about 7 urs and the reason why is bcuz I can’t stand fentanyl. Waste of money garbage. I haven’t seen heroin in my area in over 7 yrs now. I guess that’s how I stopped using. Thank gawd
That is great to hear! I agree that alcohol is horrible but I know of a few people that heroin ruined their lives too..
Ive been there, brother. For 15 years, im on the methadone now for 6 months, havnt touched dope. Unfortunately ive found myself an alcoholic now, so im still in this prison.
I am begging you to stop drinking while on methadone. My children’s father died last year from mixing them. Liver failure it was literally shredded. When they Will kick you off for drinking with it, this is why.
Maybe get to an AA meeting. Talk it out with someone.... you may gain some tools to fight this struggle. Thoughts to you on this journey.
Great analogy with the restaurants. Meetings matter - find one that works for you, even if it's online. 👍 111 Days and counting.
Absolutely! I thought this was a good analogy as well.
Appreciate you! Thanks for having me!
I'm 93 days into sobriety and working hard to ensure this is not just a "stint." Thanks for your videos. Best to us all in the days ahead.
Awesome! Great job! It does get better!!! Thanks for the support!
A supportive network is crucial. Ain't no lone wolves in recovery.
Been a top 2 priority in my sobriety. Mental health being #1 for me.
This is a good analogy.
Agree!!!
Kindling is scary and real. If i have one shot, ill spiral. It take almost nothing to enter crazy withdrawal
It is scary. Thanks for sharing. Stay safe
And it does not matter what gets you to treatment. If desperation gets you there so be it as long as you listen to the message
I hear ya. I was desperate for help
@@theaddictsadvocate me too yo
So well spoken Ashley. Sharing your life experience. This will help so many people, even non-addicts. And you are so right, you call it being human, I call it life. Thank you for sharing your story and helping SO many people. You are an Angel on earth.
Thanks for the comment! Ashley is going to be back on the podcast in the next week or so.. Stay tuned!
OK, these are some good reminders, there’s no question that increasing your mental clarity and boosting your drive, comes with quitting. Yes, there are many ways to kick the habit, Steffon Barkload's Quit Drinking Forever is what worked for me, best shortcut I go’ogled that took days without withdrawal.
Thanks for the insight! Love finding ways to help with recovery!
Why do you have to drink? I just don't get the point?
This highlights the addictive brain. It sounds like you don’t have addictive tendencies.
Fuck that im drinking till i kms
Good job! Keep going.
He is an inspiration ! Thanks for the comment
I'm sorry, but putting any negative connotation towards recovery such as saying that it's 'selfish' isn't super helpful. Anyone that has the desire, want, or need for recovery should pursue it at all costs! Self care 100%, but not selfish 🩵
Thanks for the comment. Oxford dictionary defines selfish as the following: (of a person, action, or motive) lacking consideration for others; concerned chiefly with one's own personal profit or pleasure. Yes, I will not consider others when they want me to have a drink with them and I will focus on personally profiting from sobriety. That’s not negative.
@@theaddictsadvocateI completely agree with you. I am in recovery and I have issues with boundaries. So putting myself first and not hanging out with certain people because I know I’ll relapse is selfish, but In a good way. Being selfish at times isn’t negative. It’s loving yourself
@@theaddictsadvocate The word "Selfish" has a negative connotation to it in the U.S. You and I may not care if we're being selfish, but as an addict and someone who was a people pleaser I would have hated to be "selfish" aka get sober. I've had conversations with folks that are holding back from getting sober and having a better life for themselves because people say it's selfish. I wasn't trying to be rude, I'm just talking from experience and trying to help💙 Good for you for trying to spread the word and congrats on being sober.
Ashley is an amazing woman. I was lucky enough to meet her through The Phoenix app a couple years ago. Thank you Ashley. I have already started forwarding this link to my peeps!! Keep doing what you are doing!!!!! Ellis
Ashley is definitely making an impact in the recovery community! Thanks for the feedback @riverratpat

Ashley is such a beacon of hope and an amazing woman. I will also mention if you’re interested in truly being an advocate, then I would suggest you use language that isn’t stigmatizing in your title.
Yaaaaaaaaaay❤❤❤ That's my Ashley. I love you so much......my inspiration my❤❤❤❤❤ proud of you ❤❤❤
What a phenomenal story! Ashley is an inspiration and her approach to recovery has changed my life.
She is amazing! I love her kind hearted approach to therapy!
More than 2 drinks a week is considered not healthy.. more than 2 drinks in one session is considered binge drinking
I remember a British comic who was talking about his alcoholism after being dry for 20 years. He said "no I haven't beaten alcohol. To have beaten alcohol, I would be able to go back to occasional social drinking, which I can't".
An addict gets a 30 pack & a fifth of SoCo with no tolerance left? Glad he didn’t die.
Thats called a dry drunk
Noberry cookie addiction
Dude's drunk right now
Thanks. Really like this piece.
My pleasure. You have an amazing amount of insight into addiction recovery. Keep up the great work!

Glad you enjoyed it. I will be releasing another episode in the next day or two. Thanks for the support!
what good and bad realizations have you made about yourself in sobriety?
How has the sober/clean community impacted your recovery?
What new routines do you have in recovery
How many times have you attempted to get sober or clean?
That was the advice really? That person needs to know that there is something that happened to them either during childhood, or some kind of trauma, or some kind of built-in belief that is lying at them and causing them pain and they want to numb themselves and all they have to do is figure out what is bothering themsubconsciously and heal that and realize that that belief that they’re holding or that trauma that they’re holding absolutely can be let go and needs to be for them to have a healthy life
@TruthIsNot4Sale I agree that there can be underlying reasons why a person is addicted. Some of those reasons can be genetic, past trauma, and mental health, to name a few. This individual I interviewed has found some solace in being around others experiencing the same difficulties. Some scholars have found that the opposite of addiction is tied to connectivity and community. Thanks for the comment. Good dialogue!
AA Meetings are awesome. As an addict who is also an introvert, it was hard as hell to get over that hump and commit to finally going, but I’m so glad I did. Being in a community of people that not only understand what you are going through, but are on your side in your recovery journey is a big deal.
@dylanshulgi I hear you. I attend AA and NA meetings and have met some of the most empathetic and intelligent people in the world. It is great to have those people in our corner
