Jaco was unbeatable as a bass player. For about 10 years he was number one in Downbeat magazine in polls of both professionals and ordinary readers. For me, to this day, he is still number one. And we are talking about 50 years ago mate!
3:21 I like how jaco did a medley of his own baselines at the end like Barbary coast, No slack, the chicken, and river people. It was a nice reference to himself 😂
hey Rob from metallica give jacos bass back to his family!! he said he would if they paid him like 115,000$ for it. which is a joke that Bass belongs in a museum not in Robert trujillo's hands,. like cliff burton from metallica his 4001 ricky should be somewhere prominent, but i do think i read before its in a hard rock cafe somewhere. the original aria pro Bass that he was using and using that as his main bass. an original is expensive and the cliff signature series is expensive too but id love to own one
Ci mancava il professore. Mi sa che sei appena sceso da una pianta. Du palle sono quelle che hai nel cranio. Ma levati e vatti ad ascoltare la musica che riesci a capire, forse.
I can't wait till these musicians are phased out for more modern musicians. Most of the people doing ratings and comparisons are still living in the nostalgia of their past. In 20 years, the world will look back on bassists like Flea, Les Claypool, Vic Wooten, and realize them for surpassing the people that inspired them. Sure there was talent in the 60s and 70s and even later, but as we've seen in every instrument, the modern era of music has left what was once considered revolutionary in the past. Drummers like John Bonham were fantastic, but even drumming has become so much more technical and precise. Guitarists like Hendrix, Page, and SRV are being outdone by guitarists like Tim Henson, Misha Mansoor, and Eddie Pickard, John Petrucci, Michael Romeo. These modern musicians have dominated with a new wave of talent and technicality that would have made musicians in the 60s brains explode from the sheer technical prowess. The things our fathers raved about as the peak of talent have become so basic and diluted that as society ages, the new 60 year old dudes writing articles will have grown up in the 80s and into more modern eras. I watch this video and I am so underwhelmed by the "talent" and "skill" on display here, that it truly makes me hope that shit like this goes away all together.
From 0:47 to 1:07 Jaco is playing the theme from a 1954 movie, "The High and the Mighty". I am certain he would seen it as it was popular with anyone who loved flying in airplanes. I would know because I was his best friend from 4th--7th grade, and played keyboard in his first band "The Sonics" which he formed after the Beatles arrived in February of 1964. Peace my brothers and sisters. Everyone even then could tell that he was an extraordinary person, smartest in the class, best visual artists, best at sports, and by 1965 a lady killer.
Jaco is the greatest musician of all time no questions asked. He is the greatest bassist and instrumentalist to ever live by a landslide. His playing ability is like no other. It is very similar to Jimi Hendrix on guitar. I am actually named after Jaco myself. He’s by far one of the most underrated musicians in the world. His baselines are absolutely beautiful.
My wife was friends with Jaco when he was with Dixie Dregs and never listened to his music despite being offered backstage tickets for free on many occasions. Jaco left a black 1964 Gibson EB0 at her appointment and offered to give her lessons for free, she was in college and didn't have the time. 15 years later in 1998, she was a new bass player and she walked into my bedroom for the first time and asked why I had a picture of Jaco on my wall?! I put on his self titled solo album and she simply said, maybe I should have taken him up on the lessons.
I’m a guitar player. And I know objectively That bass is absolutely superior
2:44 holy fuck…
Muy musical, ese era Jaco
Notice another beautiful thing besides Jaco and his bass?? Not a goddam cell phone!! People are focused on music.
That thing his thumb is doing is grotesquely cool
PEDRO AZNAR!!!
2:44 - 2:56 Nunca había visto un bajista hacer esto con los armónicos, parece una metralleta sonora, que brutalidad.

We have 2 tipe of electric bass player; one before Jaco and one after Jaco. This is append 50 years ago!!! Very simple.
Не понимаю в чем его гениальность, мне не заходит его игра
Probably is better if you go to Taylor Swift channel mate.
@@rossanozanga9581 What does the vocals have to do with it?
You can hear his mental illness. It's in the way he plays, and it's what got him killed in one punch.
Jaco fue la inspiración de Pedro Aznar
He was already using a sampler , back in the day , .
What is the name of the backing track?
No name mate.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
The gold standard jaco

Une légende de l'histoire la musique!

At 2:15, what song is he quoting?
Jimi Hendrix - Third Stone From the Sun (Are You Experienced)

Jaco never played with The Dregs. He was with Weather Report.
Yeah nah i don't get it
Jaco Pastorius is the only bass player to look like he just got done running a 10 mi marathon then just plays an entire concert afterwards XD
Bass soloing that makes sense and is palatable, melodic, tells a story 🙌🏿
