Great White Shark attacks boat in Tasmania, Australia. Original Footage

We were sightseeing seals off the north coast of Tasmania, when a Great White Shark rammed our 5.7m boat. It damaged the front of the boat with it's biting, before moving to the back and flipping its tail out of the water. Estimated size is 3.5 to 4m. We escaped unharmed and immediately headed for land in case of any damage to our boat. An unfortunate attack as we were unknowingly in the shark's territory.

Horizonal tail means mammal not fish. Black and white means Orca not Dolphin.
Alternative title: "Great White hits boat while hunting seals, because two idiots got too close to what was obviously a well known gathering spot for sea life".

That tail fin was not from a shark, look at it closely…. It’s horizontal like a whale, not vertical like a shark.
Just chasing a seal and you got in the way.
Why are those idiots going so close and stress them in the first place.

The size of that tail made me think it was a whale at first.
The shark was probably more freaked out than the guys on the boat. Like, "Wait -- this doesn't taste like seal ... (engine revs) ... F*ck it!"

The shark seen this boat as a fast swimming elephant seal , period !!!! it was in hunting mode with all the seals leaving the island he though he was getting a meal of a lifetime. Probably broke some teeth off on impact. Probably took the rest of the day off to nurse a concussion!
Makes me wonder how often this has happened to kayakers and just never heard of.

That is NOT the tail of a great white shark. That's not the tail of any shark.
It’s very clearly a great white angled down and away from them. Grey crescent shaped caudal fin with notch on upper trailing edge, white underside and a broad caudal keel along the tail. It’s not hard to google what they look like.

It’s very clearly a great white angled down and away from them. Grey crescent shaped caudal fin with notch on upper trailing edge, white underside and a broad caudal keel along the tail. It’s not hard to google what they look like.

@@ChristopherHitchens3.14 It was tricky because in the freeze frame the tail was sitting in a more horizontal position. Also the tail of a shark is not symmetrical, the tail of whales is symmetrical.

That was an Orca not a Great white.
Looking at the footage, yes. Great whites are grey and white. This is black and white.
@@mattstudios740 besides sharks don't go up with their tales like that at the end....that's was a vicious slap, just like Orcas do when they send seals to fly.
It was a great white. The tail is not symmetrical. Orca tails are symmetrical.

@@user-or6ym3yp7v Whales have symmetrical tails, should be fairly understandable. Sharks do not have symmetrical tails.

Gave me the vibe of a determined and angry shark, I thought it was trying to swat the guy closest to the rear of the little bass boat off with its tail, had it hit em, he would have flew like a ping pong ball off the boat and ready for dinner😮
