Peg Leg Sam - Born For Hard Luck LIVE
This was a great watch. Thank you for making this.
I first saw this 30 years ago at a friend's house. A bootleg tape that we watched 50 times or more. Many of his sayings and such we all started using in our conversations between each other!
gorgeous!
SUPERB❤️
I just wonder if they were "aware" of eachothers careers? Like if theres anny. Further stories of them interactions
"Of course.. of course ma man... you knowds the problems"
This is the song that got me into ROSCOE in the early 90s while in college. The man was furious
For wolf, blues was a career opportunity.... For son house it was a way of life.
You dont hear these ppl crying and demanding reparations...yea i said these ppl
Huh???
Huh what dood
@@sk8171300 are you blind what don't you comprehend
@@alphaturd6922 what does reparations have to do with this video? whatre you on about
And Son was born before wolf and died years after wolf …sweep around your own front door
Thank you so much for keeping this incredible music alive.
Splendid!
Just came across this now. It gives an inside look at his life. A unique perspective not seen before. Thanks for putting it out here. Clifton has been an enormous influence on my banjo playing. I even searched out an 1888 Luscomb because he has one and I like the sound.
I don't know what it is, but I love that archaic banjo sound too. Its like something that goes way back into the depths of time. I wonder when Clifton lived in Savannah. I lived there for a number of years but it sounds like he lived there after I had left.
Thanks so much. Kenny Hall live (at the Roots Festival that used to happen in San Diego, I saw him every year after I found about him) is among the best performers I've seen in a lifetime of hundreds of shows, most with more famous artists. OOAK.
“He had all his life and you ain’t done nothing with it”
Is this cuttin heads?
That's so true - The poetry is more important than the music. Some might play the banjo or guitar very simple ore reduced, but the people listen first to the lyrics.
He was so relaxed and in his element, so chill
Much as I love Son's music, Wolf was very much in the right here. Wolf was not a drinker, very disciplined, and a solid family man. It would have been nice to see just how much further Son could have gone if he had taken some cues from Wolf.
I went to college with him. We had field school together.
How was it
@@bingbong8649 we had a grand time!
Best version of Hook and Line I've heard
Wolf made a lot of sense. He was just being straight with the man.
Son house tried to interrupt wolf with his drunkness, wolf had enough!
Banjo goes crazy
I love all the ppl crawling around in the back
Awesome stuff, thanks for the inspiration guys
Fuck yeah dude
The dearest Trout
That’s my Grandpa. 😊
For real? Love his tunes
Wow
Great family!
People reading this please do more research on Clifton. Yes he is a talented player but he is not really a great person....
Shut up
Clifton has been the target of hyper-sensitive hipsters who get sunburned on overcast days. Hearsay and malicious misinterpretation have been furthering this hysteria virus. Don't spread it around.
@@PuritanWorkhorse I talked to someone who knew first hand what happened... It's not being overly sensitive. He made some comments to some black girls
@@huliniswhoiami personally know clif and can say that is false
People sure like to try and ruin his reputation a whole lot because he has different political views that doesnt fit the oldtime scene, all it is is he said/she said bullcrap
Sadly House was in the last stage of his alcoholism and suffering ‘wet brain’ here. Not Alan Lomax’s best idea to set up a fake Juke Joint for Newport in ’66 and supply the assembled blues men with free liquor! Sad but Wolf holds his own and is quite right here IMO
Mississippi Fred McDowell was great at making his guitar echo what he said.
still smiling at those lyrics
I love his playing and think he is great player..
does anyone know where the house is/was in newport? definitely want to see it
I believe this was at a bar in Newport called Specs (aka the protective club). You can see a sign that says protective club at one point. Building still there but extensively remodeled. 596 Thames Street in Newport RI. In the 60's Newport was a Navy town, and the area where Specs was wasn't a very nice part of town, like it is today. Newport wasn't a tourist town then.
Wolf is the GOAT. Period
.
He is doing A LOT for interest in the banjo!
john snipes old rattler is the greatest banjo piece of all time
Wait... Is this his channel... Or a interview feom somewhere else
Una de las mejores canciones que se han escrito nunca
Love that old time up-picking!!
Magnificent upload. He was a pioneer
Amazing and wonderful. Thanks for sharing this priceless bit of history
Wow Thank you
Excellent and informative, thank you
I didn't think this guy could get any cooler. I was wrong.
Clifton your passion has rubbed off on me. I'm just learning to play banjo at the age 61. I've built 2 mountain banjos and I'm currently working on my first hexagon banjo. I've watched your video several times along the way. To keep the built going in the right direction. Your knowledge of banjo history it amazing. Thank you so much. Keep up the good work.
