This is what freedom feels like - Te Araroa - Chapter 3
In Chapter 3, I step into the raw wilderness of the South Island. The Richmond Ranges, rugged and remote, pushed me further than ever before, offering moments of awe, isolation, and complete freedom.
From weathering storms in the safety of mountain huts to standing atop Waihu Pass with snow-capped peaks in view, this chapter is a reminder of nature’s power to humble and inspire. The silence of the mountains spoke volumes, inviting reflection and gratitude for the fleeting beauty of each moment.
Km 1,700 to km 2,000. Wellington to Aurthur's Pass.

Here I was feeling sorry for you going over the Rintouls with no view and even more sorry when the weather packed in before Waiau Pass but man that was epic and the snow in summer. I've had that once and it is truly magical.

Having walked theTA South Island myself and the Richmond Ranges three times and being addicted to TA videos, I can honestly say that this video is one of the best. You captured the adventure and the challenges.

Awesome video bro. Im one of the pilots for salt air and we fly over 90 mile everyday so its fun telling the tourist passengers why there are crazy people walking down the beach😂

Amazing!! It’s such an incredible experience! I shot on a Sony a7iv with a 24-105 lens on the front. I’m not sure if I did it again that I’d be taking this big of a kit (it was pretty heavy). I’ve got links to some of the gear I took in the description if you want to have a closer look. If you’ve got other questions feel free to ask! Very happy to share any advice I can 😊
