The Grounded shield LED did not come on when the XLR connectors were inserted ( at 2:50 mins of video ), isnt that an indication of problem ? why did you say the cable is ok ?

Good general tutorial. To check for an intermittent fault in cables, plug in both ends of the cable, press the reset button to clear the intermittent lights, and move the cable. I usually hold the CT100 up and use it to shake the cables. If there is an intermittent problem, the intermittent lights will come on and stay on. you can also just bend the cable where it comes into the connector, In test tone mode, the same reset button changes the frequency of the tone to either 1 Khz or 440 HZ. One less important test (to me) is for phantom power (I did not know about this until I did some research). Although it is plainly labeled on the face of the CT100. Two additional lights illuminate if there is phantom power coming in on a cable plugged tot he unit, at 9 volts and up.

Wow, a CT 100 that works... I saw the last days two, that doesn't work, because the battery compartment's screw seems to be glued. Return, money back, buying another cable tester from another brand, because the Behringer CT-100 was a Customer Tester.

I bought one mostly for my mic chords.... I have a whole tote of bad ones to fix. Thanks for explaining the lights. I wasn't sure when I plugged in a few chords, but now I fully understand it. The book is very vague.

I think the layout is a complete disaster. When I plug a guitar cable in . . . I should see ONE led for a working tip-tip connection . . . and a second led for a working sleeve-sleeve connection. INSTEAD I get TWELVE led lights and EIGHT are working. Bye have fun reading a manual which explains completely nothing. RIDICULOUS BAD ! (Haha, twelve times: RIDICULOUS BAD.)

Do DMX cables test the same as XLR since they have the same three pin connection?

You should learn to read the LED display.7.26 shows OUTPUT connected 3.5mm connector's pin 3(R) connects with INPUT connected Red standard connector's Tip and 3.5mm Pin1(S)connects with Red connectors Ring & Sleeve(RS).So labels on the RS connector's represent Mini jack's pins

It seems just a cable continuity tester to me, not a cable tester... Continuity is the easiest thing to control, instead cable attenuation is key. Bad solderings in most of cases results in attenuation problems, not easy to detect without a regular cable tester. I'm wondering if it helps also with attenuation (I'm looking for a cable tester :) )
