My Dad brought home 1968 220D. Very unusual for a Detroit Tool and Die guy to have back then. My brother became a Mercedes’ master mechanic. I have only driven W123 and W126 for the last 45 years.

Similar story, Dad bought a 59 220S Ponton, learned to drive it, next 63 220S I drove that all through school. Dad bought a 68 230/8...it wasn't fast enough for me, bought a 70 Dodge Challenger, drove for 10 years, not comfortable enough. Bought a couple of Volkswagens but, always marveled at the build quality and ease of mechanical works of the Mercedes. Plus they were beautiful cars. I especially admired the coupes. In 2000 I found a well l maintained 91 560 SEC....I drive it to this day and find great enjoyment in doing so. Always enjoy your videos!

This is the Mercedes of old. Nothing about them now is worth talking let alone bragging about. Toyota & Lexus have been making solid and reliable cars for decades.

Michael thank you for letting us know a little about the history of the Mercedes Guy. I am in need of some parts, I have a 1980 300sd. Main thing I need is a front passenger side window regulator. I saw your video too late about heating them up, and a guy I was trying to help out by letting him do some work messed up the one in the car beyond repair. Could I get your email, if possible. I replaced the alternator a month ago on my w123 240d after changing it the battery light never worked even with the engine off, today after a week that the car was left standing I turned it on to go to work and up to that point everything was fine, but to go home it didn't start I had to turn it on with a booster, and I noticed that with the engine on the voltage is 11.9V (I'll start by saying that the alternator is painted, could it be that it doesn't have ground?)

Hi Michael, I'm up in British Columbia CANADA, and it's 91 degrees today but I decided to put a new blower motor in my W116 this morning, get it done before winter LOL, original unit never been changed, 1980 300SD with 195,000 km, and thanks to your video it sure was easier than I thought. Great tip about which socket to use. THANKS !!!
