Regarding Shackles with screw pin: how much is the pin screwed in? Some loosen them a bit to avoid them getting stock after load - is this acceptable or actually even preferred? Why / Why not?
This is not acceptable. You must tighten the pin by hand and secure it by using a spanner or another suitable tool so that the bolt head rests completely on the eye of the shackle
kindly send the link of first webinar
This animation production from which software?
Thanks . Could you suggest where do I buy the magnetic test equipment?
Thanks

YOU are the weakest link!
This was the chain that kept Britain attached to the European continent for millenniums.
4fps?
Wow, that must take some seriously powerful machinery to pull hard enough to break that!
Force is equal to pressure times cross sectional area F=P*A. All you need is a diaphragm pump and a large hydraulic cylinder.
1200t pull - the chain breaks at 661t
My brother and I playing tug of war.
@@Carter-dv4hz And also machinery where its weakest link is stronger than the chain’s.
I wish there was a slow motion vid so we could where the failure occurred.
Same- Problem is where do you aim the camera?
Even when played at .25 speed it happens lightening fast.
It broke at the weakest link. ;)
THAT chain looks much bigger than 3.779 inch.
196mm i'd guess makes more sense....
ouch!!!
WOW ! that was exciting, is there a part 2
Good gosh almighty!
Wow! Wonder what load was on it, B4 it snapped. Glad I wasn't near it.
Can you not read? The description quite clearly states that it broke at 661 tons.......
@@nickmaclachlan5178 "Can you not read"? I can read English, sure. Have no clue what an "ankerkade" is. But thanks for converting it for me. You are very kind. And it appears "knowledgeable" too.
Woooaaaw!!! Ok test now!. How high can i fly and how low can i go?! Then you know the playfield between!!!
Every time a metal strand breaks, tremendous amount of stored energy released. Cable in extreme tension gets really hot. When it breaks all that energy causes sparks and hot metal to fly.
Very nice.
That cameraman was braver than I would have been.
I feel like it was on a tripod
More than likely the camera was set up to be remote. Tests like that where you can get shrapnel or other hazards are done in well-guarded, well shielded unmanned areas (test cells often with very thick walls) with all controls and video /camera links done via cable or wireless.

well this keeps poping up in my feed for some reason?
Same, I have no complaints lol. Very short and cool to watch
I'll use this video as a reason to get drunk again.
use this comment as another reason ofc
I now have PTSD
It didn't have a chaince.
Was that the weakest link?
you can see one deforming pretty badly in the middle right before you explodes.
I'm not sure. But, I think I found a loop (hole)!
It broke 🤷♀️
Should have made it out of passports.
under rated as fuck
🇳🇫🇵🇭🇵🇬🇵🇬🇵🇱🇵🇱🇿🇲
does it always stretch? or only when it's going to fail?
It will always stretch to some extent. All materials stretch when you apply a load like this, you just don't usually see it unless the load is relatively large, or the material has a low modulus of elasticity, or both.
Stupid comment
Stretches up to elastic limit where it will still return...after that it will stretch and not return until it breaks
Scared the crap out of me lol
Love short to the point videos.
Yeah no flashy intro with music and some dude that explains what this is all about for 10 minutes, and begs please to subscribe when you love the video.
Even just hearing that must cause you some damage, right?
So what was the break load?
Not a lot only 1200 tonnes. You might want something a bit stronger to stop your aircraft carrier from floating away.
Breakload was 661 tons. The test rig has a maximum force of 1200 tons.
@@arpec77 What fascinating jobs some people have. I assume you work there?
@@ScepticPJ Sadly not :-) Just wanted to fix some misunderstanding. I would love to work there indeed. You have a nice playlist btw. Greetings from Germany
Don’t buy that chain 🤣

That was incredibly fast

Thank you for such an informative video... Explained well in a simple manner...
Glad it was helpful!
Good basic principles for handling any rope, even soft fibre rope. Binding either side of the cut is absolutely essential for some wire ropes. Working as a lift engineer, we used to call that a seizing and it was applied tightly with a soft iron wire.
