Lick Of The Week Ep. 5: No thank YOU, Jimmy Page
They sound really cool is the understatement of the year my dude
I think I prefer these demo vocals? There’s this raw honesty in demos that is pretty incredible and unique
I go back and forth on that! It’s always hard to tell if I’m biased towards the demo just because I’ve heard it more
@@Dylan.Rockwell I so get it. I just recorded a song and my friend did the instrumentation and sent it to me with the temp vocals on it, and they gave me chills. Even though I flubbed a line in the verse and there’s no harmonies or polish it’s got THAT FEELING. So we are going to put it out as is, with the “rough” vocals and zero polish and the screw up, because, why not? Next song!👍🏼❤️
@@Dylan.Rockwell like when Kurt laughs at 3:15 into “Milk It” on In Utero? 😂😂😂👍🏼
This is much appreciated. I’m tryna learn this stuff
Snappy snip snaps! This is excellent ❤
Appreciate it!
Ahh ok so your just adding a bass note
I think of it more as just stacking the chord differently. It also sounds uniquely good on the guitar in my opinion. I didn’t care for the sound of the same notes on piano
groovin hard
must. groove. harder.
I dint know that trick..thanks
Hope it helps!
Bro, you've got talent. Thanks for the tips.
Thanks homie, glad to help!
And you can do all the Hendrix and frusciante stuff with the hammer ons and pull offs
Exactly!
Duane is so much better as a player
no argument there
I’m really glad I found your videos and I’m going to give hybrid picking a try as my picking fast lines can be a mess at times. This is such a cool lick too. Thanks for making these kind of videos. Great content.
Thanks man, not many people seem to dig these videos so far so it feels great to hear that someone does!
@@Dylan.RockwellI’m not sure why not. I learn something in each of them. I hope they keep coming.
good tone stupid video
Nice Video!
Thanks Sid! Congrats on the record release it sounds great!
🎶🧠🤯
And with that I say, HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA!
Solid video. Never thought about trying this before
Give it a go!
you either die an artist or you live long enough to become a music production guy on RUclips
Warmth of ur song
I’m a new sub. Great song Dylan.
Thank you man I truly appreciate it
Looking forward to this Dylan!
Thanks! Nice to know someone’s looking forward to it ❤
Sounds great and didn't Frank Zappa do this?
That guy could do anything so probably!
Great presentation of classic Frampton guitar playing! It’s always fascinating to me to listen to “I Don't Need No Doctor” (Live at the Fillmore East, 1971) by Humble Pie and hear the early genesis of his guitar style that came to fruition with “Frampton Comes Alive”.
the true greats always continue to change and improve and surprise you!
Dylan Rocks quite well
Lol better believe I’ve heard that one
Thanks for the advice. I looked over at my love seat where I strum my 3 chord songs from ultimate guitar and laughed. My couch guitar. But I have wondered before if the capo would bring it back to standard.
It sure will!
Strum some songs like basic ed Sheeran ones and create some covers please to understand better
just tune your own guitar down and start playing stuff and I think you’ll get it!
Sorry just from one creator to another, I think you have a good formula for shorts, especially the snappy intro, but cut that 20 second explanation. As a viewer I’m expecting much more energy and almost a comedic pay off. Instead it sort of meanders to your technique. Sorry for the unsolicited criticism! Only trying to help!!
Appreciate the tip! I’m still learning what works!
@@Dylan.Rockwell you got this! Keep it up!!
Go Dylan!!!! You have a GREAT channel!!!! 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽 Thank you for your lessons!!!!!
Appreciate you!
Are you also making shorts out of these? Shorts seems to have a better algorithmic reach for short form videos, the main site videos usually push longer time frames for creators not subscribed to.
I do post them all as shorts as well!
It’s pretty hit and miss for everything so far haha I’m learning though
@@Dylan.Rockwell I really just think it's a matter of time for you, just don't give up too soon. You doing Instagram? Reels also have a lot of reach
Who played it better? Casting my vote for Duane! (Nothing against Jimmy. He's cool, too.)
Gotta agree with ya
That must be the most popular pattern for musicians, mixers and 'producers'! The pattern behind you I mean, I've seen it in so many videos. Very popular for covering sound treatment panels and 'bass traps'. I guess because it sort of looks like a diffuser panel.🤔
Yeah it’s def the best GIK acoustics design
@@Dylan.Rockwell GIK acoustics? 🤔 The sax player I asked said it was just the material he got from Spotlight or something. Nothing labelled as acoustic related at all, just cheap fabric/material.
@@Dave-Rough-Diamond-Dunn I’m sitting in front of two GIK acoustics “vocal booths” that are flipped around. Usually I use them as acoustic treatment when recording
Glen Campbell was gifted. Played with the Wrecking Crew at Capitol.
The kids have no idea about glen campbell and it’s a problem
Glen Campbell was gifted.
Nice catch and presentation. And thank you for not comparing which was better. Both players were great live or in studio.
Of course! Music isn’t a contest haha
I’m embarrassed to say that I just rather recently discovered Doyle Dykes, one of the absolute, best finger pickers out there.. Guy just blows me away.
I’ll give them a listen!
that’s so easy!
Love pedal steel. Still miss Sneaky Pete, Ben Keith, Jerry Garcia, and David Lindley. They were all amazing.
What if… slide bass?
Fretless bass is the closest we got!
correct
sounds like a mix of jeff buckley and radiohead, pretty nice!
Two of my favorites! Thank you
Someone tell @zachbraff
lol thank you but why Zach Braff?
Dude this is something special.
Just put Major in I and minor in IV and there's black magic on it!!!!😂
you are too advanced for this lesson sir
@@Dylan.Rockwell I assure you I'm not. Just a little fake trick....😂😅 Love your videos. Keep on!!!!!! 💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
killing lick
Truly
Sounds killer!
thanks dude!
Sounds Mayer esque
Very much so
SRV more so….
@@OakLawnSpeedShop right you are, the flow chart goes Hendrix->SRV->Mayer
That’s neat man, need more of these tricks to fake being good lmao
Got em all over my channel! This is episode 12!
❤
Great trick. 💪🏽😎🤞🏼
Put it to some use!
Mans secretly teaching people guitar
Whatchu mean secretly
If you do this you’re no longer faking being good at guitar. At this point you actually are better than most people just casually playing songs they like.
Then my work here is done
