রুধিয়া রাখিতে নারি - এই শব্দগুলোর সাধারণ অর্থ হলো, কবি রোধ করে রাখতে পারছেন না। একটু ব্যাখ্যা করলে ব্যাপারটা আরও পরিষ্কার হয়ে উঠবে। কবি মনে অনেক নতুন নতুন ভাবনার উদ্রেক হয়েছে। কবি বুঝতে পারছেন না যে কিভাবে এটিকে প্রকাশ করবেন, ঠিক যেমনভাবে নির্ঝর তার সঠিক পথ কোনটি তা বুঝতে পারছে না। যেমন নির্ঝরের উথাল পাথাল অবস্থা, ঠিক তেমনই অবস্থা কবির সুকুমার মনের, যেটাকে তিনি আর নিয়ন্ত্রণ করতে পারছেন না। আশা করি বোঝাতে পেরেছি।😊

এখানে নির্ঝর - কবি মহাসাগর - বিশ্ব লোক, বিশ্ব চরাচর। হঠাৎ করে তিনি বুঝতে পারছেন যে সীমামার মধ্যে গণ্ডিবদ্ধ না থেকে অসীমের সাথে মিলিত হওয়ার মধ্যেই যেন জীবনের পূর্ণতা, প্রানের পরম তৃপ্তি। ঝর্না যেমন করে মহাসাগরের সাথে, মহা জলরাশির সাথে মিলিত হতে চাই, তার মন মিলনের বাসনায় ব্যাকুল হয়ে ওঠে, কবিও তেমনি সংকীর্ণতাকে ছাড়িয়ে -অসীমের সাথে, বিশ্বচরাচরের সাথে এক হয়ে যেতে চান।

কবিতাটির মূলভাব কবির চেতনার আত্মজাগরণ। কবিতার প্রতি ছত্রে ছত্রে এই ভাবই প্রকাশ্য। নির্ঝর যেমন বৃষ্টিপাতের ( থর থর করি কাঁপিছে ভূধর,/শিলা রাশি রাশি পড়িছে খসে,/ফুলিয়া ফুলিয়া ফেনিল সলিল/গরজি উঠিছে দারুণ রোষে।) ফলে নতুন চেতনার সাথে জেগে উঠেছে, রবীন্দ্রনাথের অন্তঃসত্ত্বাও ঠিক সেইরকম আত্মোপলব্ধি পেয়েছে। জলের প্রবল উচ্ছ্বাসের ফলে ঝর্ণাটি তার গতিপথ সম্পর্কে সচেতন হয়ে উঠেছে, কবিও সেরকম জীবনের লক্ষ্য খুঁজে পেয়েছেন। নির্ঝরের তার চারপাশের পরিবেশ সম্পর্কে সচেতন হয়ে ওঠা রবীন্দ্রনাথের সামাজিক সচেতনতার প্রতীক। রবীন্দ্রনাথের আত্নজাগরণ তার সাহিত্যকর্মে গভীর প্রভাব ফেলেছিল। সেকারণে আমরা লক্ষ্য করি যে তার পরবর্তী রচনাগুলিতে তিনি আরও বেশি আধ্যাত্মিক এবং সামাজিক বিষয়গুলি নিয়ে লিখতে শুরু করেন। তাই আমরা বলতে পারি নির্ঝরের স্বপ্নভঙ্গ কবিতাটি রবীন্দ্রনাথের আত্নজাগরণের ও আধ্যাত্মিক ও মানসিক চেতনার প্রতীক।
