The scenic bus ride adds a little variety to your trip. While not a good as the real deal I prefer instant coffee to those coffee bags, at least you can add another spoonful of flavour if you need a stronger taste. Lovely spot Ballina. Last time I was there I watched dolphins surfing the tidal flow from the grassy area near the skatepark. Very interesting photo of the old station, especially the device connected to the downpipe. The good thing about the early start is getting the sunrise. I was the only person at the bus stop at Broadbeach South, there weren't even many cars passing. It was a dead quiet Monday morning.
