I am doing my engineering in CS and i will be graduating soon but i am very much interested in doing 3d designs, so yes technical artist would be a very good role to ones who have knowledge of both technical and 3d , but what i find difficult is i don't know how to get into those roles or what to learn to get those roles and the competition for technocal artist role is very high i feel 😅
You would need to understand the whole game development pipeline generally speaking. And you would need to be able to develop functional and optimized tools to solve problems. At the end of the day it you need to be able to solve complex challenges that artist can't. So, learning about materials, vfx and so on is all part of it.
@@AmitGinniPatpatia What are the chances of a company hiring a fresher for the technical artist role? If the chances are very low then what do you think would be an ideal entry level role for me if I know blender for some extent and some coding, would you recommend me to apply for development role or design role?
@@prabuddh4873 Let us know if you need some career coaching to help organize your thoughts.
@@prabuddh4873 There are possibility for junior technical artist, or find a more common role to get an entry. It comes down to your focus, skills and consistency.
Would you recommend getting a bachelors degree in computer animation? or is it possible to land a job with no educational background.
It comes down to learning it the right way and showing a good portfolio. You could consider a couple of different mentors for perhaps half the cost and time.
@@AmitGinniPatpatia that’s awesome thanks. I feel like I’ve been set back from pursuing this career due to tuition costs. Any recommended programs or mentors?
@@Kozeeny Just get started for now and you will find someone suitable for you eventually. Go through webpages of softwares and learn from them if they have anything, and look around online for various sources.
awesome!!!!
"Dont give me more stuff to do" x)
You can do it.
thats sounds like coming from a very privileged position though
It is certainly something that requires a special attitude, perseverance, patience, and, in this case, maybe time to reach a stage where you can be selective. But, it certainly isn't privileged. A lot of hard work and sacrifice isn't privileged
@@LightingBotEducation Appreciate the channel, but also agree with @AllesLatte's comment. Attitude doesn't change job market dynamics. When "no one" is hiring, you definitely don't have the same earning potential. That's just supply and demand. There have been something like 11,000 layoffs in gaming this year, and in all honesty most artist positions are replaceable. Sometimes people will just have to take what they can get.
@@computron5824 Many things impacts these layoffs from recession, covid investments and wars. There are however work out there to find if one searches for it, specifically smaller contracts, short term contracts and lesser known studios who similar to us are not visible enough. So, we all need to get more visible to find each other.
would love to join the industry, but theres literally no junior jobs right now, no matter how good your portfolio is... super discouraging times for junior artists.
Remember to network more in that case.
WOWWWEW BERRRY NICE SIIRRRRRR

Thanks for this!
so good
Great vid! Wish I had been able to join. Keep em coming!
this was really nice!
Thank you.
The art fundamentals are the most important thing to wrap your head around if you wanna be a good artist. I'm glad we got them bashed in our heads since the beginning of my education. We also have drawing classes throughout our whole program and they're often overlooked by students because they are not 3d. But actually all the basics of color, composition and perspective are thought right there. But it's like that with a lot of things, people want to master something as fast as possible forgetting that anything great is always build on strong fundaments. Literally. Also thank you for all these videos and streams they are really enlightening... Pun absolutely intended.
True
Excited for any upcoming videos?
Love this Florent! Agree 💯

This is such a sweet, down to earth and very fun and informative podcast. It feels nice and relaxed - for learning but not in hyper node.
Thanks, we appreciate it.

Good one 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Wasn't able to attend the stream! But it was fun watching it back. Good to hear about how to approach the "first job". Deffinently something I'm keen to learn more about; the chances/approach of someone getting into the lighting business withouth a degree in it. Coming from a complete different background and switching jobs/fields. Looking forward to future streams! :)
Thanks for leaving comment and supporting us.

That was really helpful . Thanks
Glad you liked it.
Love Jeremy!
Thanks, he will be around more.
Good talk guys, well done !
Thank you.
At min 12:04 Amit was saying about somatic experience. It is when your body manifests something linked to an emotion you are experiencing at the moment, most of the time people experience blood rush, a lot of heat somewhere in the body, freezing, itching, shaking and so on. This is my understanding of it :)
That is interesting.
Nice work can you make day night circle for mobile
