Hey bro just wanted to tell you on your Texas rig hooks you can take a bobber stop and put the hook through it same place you would put the line but after you get it started and past the barb push it up the hook to the corner of the Z bend and it will act like a bait keeper and keep the worm from slipping down your hook. I found out about this and now every pack of hooks I get the first thing I do is put bobber stops on every one of them before I put them in my box, you will be blown away by how good they work

the reel is basically a tranx 300 with a better handle better gear ratio and micro module gears, had the reel over a year now and it is awesome would 100% recommend if using it for 2-10oz glidebaits

I like it! Man that is a beautiful place. Always a bass fisherman even though I lived in the outer Banks for years before I tried salt. I always thought it was growing some bottom bait and I'm not into it. Saw people slamming speckled trout on jigs with paddle tails when I came out from surfing one day. Ask them what they were using and I went back and got some jigs and swim baits out of my bass gear. Landed eight trout and a 28-in red drum. Been hooked ever since and put a lot of time into learning. Fish around others and observe what they do, ask questions and you will learn quickly. Salt and freshwater fish are very much the same. They like transitions and cover. They tend to not bite when it is a dead tide. When the tide is ripping look for and Eddie or tide differentials where bait fish might get caught up. I would have gotten in the water about waist deep on the right side of that jetty and tossed over there. A lot easier on your ride not to be coming from such a high angle. And you need much better gear in salt. We catch 30 plus inch drum on medium rods. Usually 7 ft or 76 and I prefer my stratic. Make sure to wash your ride off and give your reel a light spray absolutely every time you come out of the salt. If you dunk you're the reel dry it and clean it quickly or send it off to be cleaned out. Slamming big fish on a jig is so fun! I never thought I would sell fish more than freshwater but the fight is so much harder and it's nice to be able to go out and catch 20 or 30 fish on occasion. It's also nice to be able to have something good to eat like those pompano. The hour just before and after sunrise are the best times, especially in that clear water since the fish are so exposed with the sun out. They will usually retreat unless there is cover. With a little research and some time you could be killing it within a year, but you did a nice job today. I recommend a dedicated salt rod so you don't rust the guides on your good bass gear. Off the jetty I would use something more like a medium heavy unless there are some bigger fish around. Good luck my man
