I did swapped an ej20x to a wrx 2014. Swap whole intake and parts with the USDM that came on the ej255. I'm using the vf52 with the oem Unequal length header, 650cc injectors and I have good numbers on the accessport 2 months using it and feels very good. Now I am going to order a 340lph Fuel pump before tune it. My actual goals are 300hp +/-10. I have catless downpipe and custom exhaust. Cobb boost controller, custom Perrin inlet intake, and OEM filter box with Apexi dry freeflow filter. Do you think I do need something else to reach 300hp?
Highly recommend a protune the timing on the cobb maps are super spicy for the ej20 motor due to the compression like alex said in the video

Hello I have an ej20x in my 2011 wrx. What he's saying is that the regular ej25 timing assembly for my car should match up besides you needing a different water pump, correct?
Yes unless you keep the oil warmer. I recommend you put an oil cooler in place where the oil warmer to keep the oil happy.

I could compare that if you’d like, unfortunately now I have a dual oil cooler in a series along with this Mosselman thermostat as well, so it’ll take even longer to warm up haha
@@FOFRacing ah ok, no worries bro, this even shows more that this T-stat does nothing more than the simple cheap billet BMS or FTP T-stats. If now with dual coolers you need even more time to heat up, this means that the stat is constantly open even at low temp and oil circulating non -stop and this is not how a proper T stat should work.

I’ve heard to only Retard the timing by 1 tooth , from reputable tuners , why do you recommend 2 ?
Both of the tuners I used to go to recommended 2 teeth. It’s been so long since I’ve done any of this, but as far as I remember it gave extra degrees of timing adjustment for the intake cams.

I still prefer how the ej255 drives. I’m no engine torque expert. But. I have a 255 in my 2014 Wrx and a 20x in my 04 wagon. The 20x is great. But. I still think the 2.5 is better.
Great video! I ordered the same mounts prior to seeing this video but kinda on the fence to install them or return. I was wondering how the Anchor brand mounts feel so far on your car? They were very cheap on RockAuto vs. oem Lemforder mounts at FCP Euro.
They feel great in my opinion, not much different over the FCP option because it’s just rubber haha. But compared to the OEM ones off my E36 M3, they were exactly the same.

Maybe like 8 pounds just be careful not to over pressurize the motor with the pcv attached. You can push out the seals and cause leaks

Crank isn't nitrited and the rods are the same as the EJ205s, not STI rods. Crank isn't crossdrilled either, unfortunately. It's not a bad motor per SE but mine didn't last but 3 weeks. I tore a 2nd one apart to put H-tuff rods and updated 2L crank and found #4 rod was stretched and bearing was wiped clean.
I'm running BC272 non-AVCS cams and it drives better than the previous 2.1 stroker with stock 205 heads/cams. And I made better power with slightly slower spool.
I'm planning to do this swap with my 05 LGT and get a JDM ECU to use the exhaust AVCS. With this in mind, will I need to set the teeth back on it, or set the timing as normal?
Most people I seen only retard timing by one tooth.

great info here you are way more in depth than all the other videos I've seen, I'm wondering though if I should get the ej20 single avcs or the ej20 dual avcs since I'm swapping into a 2011 wrx usdm with single avcs, all I can find is people going from single to dual but in my eyes it would make more sense and/or maybe less issues sticking with the ej20 single but cant find any videos of people doing those swaps its always the single to dual. just not sure what to do, any feedback would be appreciated

I just did this swap for my 2005 legacy GT .. how do I get my check engine light off ? I brought the engine from jdmengine zone in New Jersey .. it didn’t come with a 02 sensor so my check engine light is on .. the engine fit in perfectly.. all my mechanic had to do was run the engine on 1 solenoid and leave the other unplugged like you said and he had to extend the crankshaft sensor wire to be able to plug it in .. also what gas should I run this engine off ? I put 93 in it and it started shaking a little at first
Should’ve swapped over your turbo/ manifold/ downpipe setup and kept your 02 sensor. There should’ve been no reason to extend the crank sensor. Run 93, it’s shaking because you don’t have a 02 sensor hooked up
Damn .. jdm engine zone was saying to keep the 2.0 turbo set up .. I had to buy a flank for a ej20x because my 2.5 flank didn’t fit around the turbo for the 2.0 .. so I brought the flank for the 2.0 and then welded a pipe to the mid pipe to close out the exhaust .. everything else is running excellent .. it’s just some times I start the car it shakes a little .. is there anyway I can fix this ? I don’t have my original engine no more ..
Did you pop a code prior to the fix?
For everybody who is swapping in a 2.0L keep the coil and wires because they can be mounted 180° backwards and you can swap cylinders 1-2 and 3-4 on the coil because it batch fires. It will save you 200 bucks and could last the life of the swap. Worked on my Subaru Baja. You use one bolt normally and make a small drop-down bracket relocation bracket for the second bolt.
