She needed some time away from Natsu and some help to come to terms with her own feelings. I mean they are old enough to get freaky. Well I was going with the idea that even if she did that place had far too many bad memories for her. She wanted to build a new home with the one she loves that's why she went and got a nice house for the two of them instead.

The one hundred years quest may have some problems like cutting out some stuff from the manga but it's still a good adaptation. So I think you should watch it just so you can relieve the great moments again.

I didn't want to change all that much, and I do try to follow the manga a bit more when it comes to the overall story with adding or changing some things to fit my story better, but Sherry did try to fight in the anime; she made a stone doll, then a tree doll, to fight Racer; in the manga, she just made a tree doll before getting kicked out of the fight. First off, Sherry didn't control the demon; she controlled the passed-out Racer to make him rip the demon out of his body and throw the bomb off the ledge. Gray's attack pushed the bomb away enough so they wouldn't get hurt, but Racer still fell down. Brain has never fought Fairy Tail, so he had no idea what he was getting into.

Well, I kind of wanted to add that in since Lyon and Sherry are not happening, so I wanted to make it a bit fun; it can't always be action all the time.
