The scans in the game tell you very clearly that these parasites were not originally anywhere close to this size. Or that they even would get that big with normal lifespan. These parasites were taken from Tallon IV's surface and experimented on with Phazon, rapidly growing them into the parasite queens in the tanks on the frigate. They then broke out of containment and attacked the frigate from WITHIN the frigate itself. Cause thats where they were grown. Do you just fucking make this shit up?
